For what's worth it, Herodotus gives a detailed description of the various elements in the Persian army, which might be useful: XerxesArmyAndFleet.txt3 points

Hi, fellows! I am glad to help, and I'm sorry I wasn't that clear... You have to edit source/ps/GameSetup/VisualReplay.cpp . You have to 'cut' these 2 lines: static OsPath tempCacheFileName = VisualReplay::GetDirectoryName() / L"replayCache_temp.json"; static OsPath cacheFileName = VisualReplay::GetDirectoryName() / L"replayCache.json"; Then 'paste' them twice... One inside this function: bool VisualReplay::ReadCacheFile(const ScriptInterface& scriptInterface, JS::MutableHandleObject cachedReplaysObject) And another inside this function: void VisualReplay::StoreCacheFile(const ScriptInterface& scriptInterface, JS::HandleObject replays) Paste them just after the opening '{'. This way we are changing the scope of these variables, the same way they were back at version 0.0.21. In 0.0.23 they are globals, and are created before the execution, but g_args is still not filled. After these changes, they will be created only upon function call, after g_args was filled. I've tried to comment at the bug tracker, but I haven't permission. Maybe I will have to become a developer to send a solution. But maybe @andy5995 could manage this for us? Please, Andy, may you help us? Thank you very much!2 points

Hey there ! First i want to be sorry for my english i come from France I discovered your game recently and it's so good ! But well that was hard to play a game in 2v2 against IA with my friend cause the game was freezing every 10 second, maybe cause of my computer and some other game problem, but as i told that was a really good experience. I Tried to get some information on the forum, but there's not a lot of recent big update, so i woul'd like to know how the project feel ? Is it so long cause you need money ? Or cause the game required so much time ? Maybe because you're not enough to work on...? Well i understand that a lot of people probably already asked you the question a lot of time, so i'm sorry to be curious ^^ And i also can understand if you wouldn't answer some question. When you (someone, anyone) make browser narrow enough or you use android or something similar, when you browse topics you can notice that last button page gets to the second row and dramatically changes its boundaries. (I think it is not desired, but might be wrong )1 point

I feel lately there have been some work on new features rather than polishing or solving bugs, and that's nice. Some questions now that we're asking... Finally what will happen to persian voices? Wraitii is working in the improvement and implementation on big changes on pathfinding? (or was only a small fix)1 point

My solution is more like "Proof of Concept", not a definitive optimized solution, as I am not a very experienced coder. I prefer to wait for the outcomes from 'audit' first rather than to send an 'ugly' solution, as I believe the coder staff can provide a much better one. Well... Unless this 'audit' option is not really for real usage... But if this, I think someone will answer that very clear. And then I will post a diff as you pointed out. I've edited https://code.wildfiregames.com/rP19674 and added that I can send this diff anyway, if ok. Thanks!1 point

Can you create a differential to fix that ? This way we can add inline comments and review the changes more easily If you are using svn svn diff -x -U5000 > file.diff or git git diff -U5000 > file.diff Then upload the file there https://code.wildfiregames.com/differential/diff/create/1 point

Hi @Angen! Reading that page, I think 'audit' is the way to go! I will sign up, search that commit and try to post an 'audit' first. Thank you very much!1 point

I am pleased to hear @Weber K. figured out how to get the game running in Slackware 14.2. I am displeased to realize that I do not understand how to implement this solution. Does it require editing a file? If so, which file and where is it? And do I do it before or after compiling? Please forgive my ignorance.1 point

Unknown_Player is our host. This league fixture is something different. Unknown_Player will suggest players before 5-10 minutes before the game. He chose the players who are in the room already. Medium players can play too if there is a spot. This event will last for 8 weeks. At the end of the event, those points will determine the best players who joined the event.1 point

Hi all! Thank you @Weber K. Hopefully, your solution would allow planty of joyfull hours of playing this game. Cheers!1 point

Yeah the guides take a weirdly long time to make for simple text and image documents, I'll probably not get back to making them until all the factions are done.1 point

Locking this topic because it seems like it won't produce anything useful. @gameboy I honor your motivation, but we can't do everything at the same time and people might have other things to do. And everytime you ping a dev they use precious time to look at that ping instead of investing time into the game. So please use that measure wisely and careful.1 point

Hi all, I would like to invite you to our Week#2 live-stream event. There will be a 4v4 match at 18.00 (UTC) on Sunday with dual-commentary by Alistair Findlay and Feldfeld. If you want to convert UTC time zone to your time zone you can visit this website. You can Play/Watch/Contribute/Ask questions during the event. It's only one match once a week. So, Players who want to play should be in the room a little early. Players who want to Spec/Contribute/Ask questions should watch the event on Alistair Findlay's channel: Here is the link. We're playing on desert/mainland this week. There will be more maps during the event. We're thinking this is like a league for players. Currently, we're limiting the event as 8 weeks. There'll be a league fixture too (coming soon). Rule Breakers get yellow and red cards. If you brake no dancing, no wonder rule during the match, you get a yellow card. 2 yellow cards mean 1 red card. If you have a red card, you are banned for the next event. If you're curious about what is going on with the league fixture, you can visit this topic. Please let me know If you have any questions. Have fun,1 point

And the Athenians have slingers too as do Ptolemies and the Carthaginians, and the Iberians so do you turn them down to or just the celtics?1 point

There are few problem that I want to discuss:- 1. We knew that Darius, Alexander or Romans all were successful because of their superior infantry. But, in 0ad gameplay we can constantly observe that skirmishers and slingers are the determining force rather than infantry. If someone make 30 skirmishers and employs them to kill 30 spearmen or swordsmen then he/she will loss only a few troops whereas the infantry side may lose all of his/her troops. But in reality it won't happens. I think the main problem of ranged unit lies in the idea of unlimited ammunition. A skirmishers can throw javelins constantly. But he needs to refill his supply after sometimes. But it won't happens. Maybe a 3 seconds gap would be sufficient for refilling. I think it can be solved by limiting the number of projectiles for skirmishers, slingers and archers according to their damage. 2. Secondly, a pikeman and skirmishers working speed is same but not their walking speeds which has a large impact on economy. We know that pikemen are slow unit in warfare but when it comes to working he is equally capable of working as fast as a skirmisher. So, I would prefer a common walking speed during doing some job for both of them. Maybe there would be some arming time(i.e. 2-3 seconds). During that time he would have a reduced armour, health and attack. As we know no one carries weapon during working. 3. Thirdly it was widely discussed topic, whether ram needs man power to move or not. I think it needs. Maybe a ram should costs 2 population. But it needs additional 3 men to move it on. On the other hand elephant have a crush damage but it won't applicable for fortress. But a herd of elephants can destroy it. So, I think a elephant would cost 5 population and it have a health of 750. But on the other hand a ram should be only a siege rather attacking units and can be captured. That's all.1 point
