@wowgetoffyourcellphone, two words: Eagle Hunting I think it took out a fox in the video, but I've seen video's of these babies taking out wolves as well!!! Would make for a very unique specialized hunting unit. Wouldn't be simple to implement I assume, but sooo epic. Perhaps even as a scout unit, although I'm not sure whether they outfitted their eagles with go-pro's in the BC era. Might have to check up on that. Also, why is throat singing so freakin' epic?!?! Some Turkic folk music (that flute, so simple, so perfect...): Top random youtube comment: "These people usually hunt wolves and foxes, but occasionally they conquer the world"2 points

Well it obvious that Slingers are on if the best units but you will have to maintain 1:3 ( 1 meele : 3 ranged ) ratio for better combat strength and better food gathering rate and costing only wood not stone are the main reasons for Celts to be told as the best Civ as they are the best(and Ptolemies) for booming and finishing 1v1 eaisly.2 points

Visiblegaarrison for archers on top of ships instead of just adding extra arrows, would make for more interesting marine warfare.2 points

I mean, that's what a formation would do. A phalanx of hoplites wouldn't just split up under arrow fire. This would encourage players using their own ranged or cav to take down the ranged. EDIT: And players don't HAVE to use formations. I'm just trying to find ways for factions that need formations i.e. all the successors and greeks, to have formations that work. Obviously, phalanxes and syntagmas are both vulnerable to arrow fire in their nature.2 points

I usually scout early game my enemy's position and also the he resources in the map for late game. And enemy's Civ tell most as Britons or Gauls are mostly used for Rushing. And Civs like Roman's and Persians are more deadly in later game. So they give you a basic touch of the Civ's capablity but the player's strategy is unknown. You can use your enemy's territory to scout the border buildings and if any walls to break. So scouting is basically very important in early, middle and late game.2 points

Hi guys, just wanted to announce that my series of videos on the 0 A.D. Champions Cup is finally finished. So we have a nice archive with all the matches of the championship in this playlist below. I remember that before starting my channel I searched for some videos of competitions of 0 A.D. and found none, so now I gladly leave this as a resource for the future players and the community as a whole. The spoken language is Portuguese, but there are English subtitles for all videos. The most important matches (final, semi-final, etc.) have commentary, but most videos don't (except in between matches, when I make a short summary of what happened in the previous match). Hope you all enjoy, thanks for all who watched and @PrincessChristmas for the great initiative!2 points

Idk if work has already been done on this, but I had an idea on kinda how to make formations attack in formation. Hopefully its also simple to implement too, but idk because I'm not a programmer, I'm studying to be a game designer/artist. When units are put in formation, why don't we just change the stance? For more rigid formations like , battle lines, phalanx, and syntagma; units could be put in a "hold ground" stance where they attack anything in their combat range, but cannot move. For more flexible formations like general lines and columns, they could be set on a defensive stance with a very short leash distance. This could simulate formations for the time being so we can test how using formations on the maps actually might work. If this is easy to do, could someone whip this up, and sent me a copy to try it? If it kinda works, then possibly we can figure out how formations bonuses would work.1 point

On a side note (since we are wishfully thinking about formations) It would be amazing if phalanxes and syntagmas behaved how they do irl in combat. I'm talking specifically about the pushing. (I'm lumping both formations into the label "Phalanx") Phalanx combat isn't truely about stabbing the enemy, its about pushing the enemy. Hoplite on Hoplite combat was a pushing match between the two phalanxes, with Hoplites stabbing each other to try to lessen the pushing power of the other side. It would be cool if we could emulate this in 0ad. Although I'm not expecting it because it would be hard to do, hard to balance, and I only know one game that's ever done it. Total War Arena.1 point

Replacing with the hardest aggressive AI is much better than nothing if the player is irreplaceable by human player. This would at least save the game if it’s team game and should be fine if done between the earliest to middle phase.1 point

Cielo you could have just have just reported that name of the player and banned him to @user1 in the game itself and not wasting time and posting it in forum ( sorry if rude) but reporting in instance is the best and some people quit if losing.1 point

The Xiongnu is a very difficult culture to gather information about. I tried to access to some academic articles translated from chinese but even with the accreditation of my university nor the website sci-hub, I don't success to get it. The Scythian supracultural group seems to be the easiest to get information about. I think it should be ok to put the Sarmatians and the Alani in the Scythian faction. The Greco-Scythian emblematic kingdom is the Bosporan Kingdom: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bosporan_Kingdom https://periklisdeligiannis.wordpress.com/2014/01/08/τηε-bosporan-kingdom-cimmerian-bosporus-part-i/ http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?636049-PREVIEW-The-Bosporan-Kingdom1 point

I know it would make the player loose, but it is better and smoother then an insta win, and if the player leginimately had bad connection they can come back before poop hits the fan. If they just left for bad cheaty reasons like listed above in the OP then they will loose. The whole point is that it would make the quitter inevitably loose if he does not relog.1 point

Is there any difference in buildings between Gauls and Britons ( in health) as both are weak and irreversiblebly not useful while defending against raids if 2+ rams any building falls.1 point

very new to 0 A.D. - original fan of Age of Empires. Happy to find it! In an effort to play multiplayer on a mac I downloaded the fgod mod. When I launch the mod the screen appears offset. The top inch is normal but then it looks like a duplicate screen is layered on top. The mouse click is off about the same. I tried another mod and same issue. What am I doing wrong? thanks for your patience. Trying to play multiplayer with my daughter. Failed at local network game so trying lobby and keep hitting road blocks. I also tried using mod on imac and macbook pro. same issue....1 point

Hello dear devs and players, My story: this week i wanted to write a small review about the game 0a.d, now personally i love the game but the ai becomes predictable after a certain while. So i tried playing online. At first everything was fine with my username but 5 minutes into the lobby i got banned. Now I know i shouldn't have picked my standard username (uranusdigger69) but it would be nice to have a second chance, like getting a warning so you can change your username to something more.... acceptable. So now im in a situation where i cant finish my review since i cant make a new account or get unbanned by changing my name. So here i am, just some guy that made a small mistake, asking for your help to at least make a new account. This time i call it mr.Frodo or something. Thanks allot Simon1 point

gameplay. wagon defenses except Huns they must be Faster Rush kind. instead outposts; camps.pack / unpack unit, unpack increases LoS. stun and enslave abilities to Lasso units. capture the unit and make them their bodyguard. high loot bonus. team bonus for Huns you can access to their Auxiliars cavalry (Alans) and Lasso units. Scythian females can access to be upgraded to Hunter cavalry but they need kill at last a male soldier. Scythian female Hero can have bonus vs Male Heroes.1 point

Ticket exists since 7 years #1088.The feature bounty is recent however https://www.bountysource.com/issues/5689352-multiplayer-saved-games. I think this payment is a very noble gesture, but Im not sure if amounts in the range of 1$/h and less are really incentivizing (at least when considering how long people actually end up working on such features in total).1 point

Cool! They should have a bunch of female warriors. The Xiongnu and Scythians probably more so than the Huns? For Xiongnu, the women can be embedded in the regular troops, but it would be nice to also have a dedicated "Amazon" unit for the Scythians. I guess that's what you mean with egalitarianism? I've read somewhere that an estimated 1/3 of Scythian warrior tombs belonged to women and there are apparently Xiongnu female warrior tombs as well. Xiongnu should have access to walls of rammed earth, stronger than palisades, weaker than stone walls. Scythians should indeed have access to the most impressive type of fortifications for the "nomadic" civs (heavy stone walls, Greek influence in the Black Sea area), forming a sort of in-between civ with a "settlement" option as you indicated (Scythian Neapolis) and can even have a wonder: "The mausoleum of the Scythian rulers of Neapolis", also known as the "tomb of Skilurus": (or we could just pretend it's a castle? ) Scythians should also have access to the most elaborate armours (extensive use of scale and leather, and even Greek influences). They should look like the most opulent "nomadic civ". Their team bonus could be trade related ((proto-)silk road). All three could have heavy loot bonuses: Sounds perfectly appropriate!1 point

So we'll it looks like you can save your game but we'll your opponent doesnt in it as he isn't online and doesn't do nothing so well boring and waste.1 point

Huns don't try have their own Empire Kingdom near of Roman Empire(Eastern) at last with Attila. And give great loot advantage to sack cities (CC) what about steal % of enemy stockpile (?) sounds funny and frustrating. Later you need some kind of semi nomads style gameplay. with Germanic refugees like the Vandals.1 point

Hi Amadeus, I would like to share my opinion about the strategy you propose: I don't agree at all with this: britons have one of the strongest army composition in game: mass pikes + slingers + rams Set rally point to wood it's much better, then you train 3 women to go on berries (total is 7 women on berries and 6 on wood) Mistake: the dog is a very important unit. You can use him to scout much the enemy base and also to slow enemy economy. If you keep going/run away from enemy berries you produce a bigger damage in economy for the player (1 women is practically nothing) This will make you waste wood for an unuseful building: 1) berries are already in cc range, so you don't need to protect them so much (the women take a little time to run away) 2) a tower deals not much damage if not garrisoned, and remember that the men are taking wood, not berries I would say that 9 fields are too many for your strategy game: they are good if you project a long game with more than 400/500 unit for player lost. If you want a quite early game don't make more than 8 fields (if upgraded they can be more than enough for all your game) 3-4 barracks are useful for a long game. If you want this type of strategy use just 1-2 barracks or you will finish your resources too fast I would leave at least 20 to mantain a good wood economy This is your project: if you are talking about the third part of the game (14-15 mins) calculate that a good player can have something like 250 pop + fort, and he can counter you very very easily Maybe the attrition war is what will make you win with a strong civilization like britons xd Slinger attack: 9.5 every 1 second. Skirmisher attack: 16 every 1.25 seconds If you don't consider dancing, that is very useful Never fight combats where your opponent has more upgrades than you. The number of soldiers is not what makes you win (a player can win a 2v1 even with dancing Also, you forgot the most important thing to say: fight and do economy with upgrades. If you have upgrades and the enemy not you can win a fight with really less soldiers than the enemy CONCLUSION: If you like to attack in the early game to win, I wouldn't advise you to attack around minute 14-15, cause the enemy can have P3 full pop. Maybe try to use a strategy (that I usually copy from borg- xd) for a 8-9 minute heavy attack with britons. This because there are many ways to counter your strategy1 point

There is also the Cretans archers during the battle of Trasimene in 217 BC. There is also 2000 Ligurians, Cretans and Numidians called auxilia in 171 BC under Publius Licinius Crassus. But the Treaty of Apamea is an example of political restriction of the mercenaries use in 188 BC.1 point
