  2. Hi , Im working on .... Carthage : 7 players of 50 pop limit --> 6 districts + 1 army of 50 mercenary champs VS Rome : 1 player of 500 pop limit mostly invading by sea (like survival of fittest) + nubians troops coming from desert I'm using the elevation terrain hack to put some buildings on top of others and make them look like merged in order to have unique structures (below, the 5 houses produces those 5 females with no evacuation problem) Rome will invade with RAMS, but will not be able to crush the Carthage walls everywhere (terrain elevation as unbreakable wall and platform for bolt-lozaa ) If Rome is in the walls .. Some places will be used to make good retreats for those 5 noobs Gauls, Athenians, Iberians, all different but their HATE of Rome on their face Even if the map could be used to be playable, i want to go into the new camera function in 0ad22 to make great cinematics in the narrow streets of carthage during invasion action . (to make a SUPER promotional trailer of 0ad) Also, for the sake of global interests, it would be nice to have a 3D map of carthage which could be used , i.e , for any TV documentary For this, Carthage has to be fulled with contents to give it a living appareance. FEEL FREE to WORK on it and make updates on this thread the pmp https://ufile.io/6vgn1 the xml https://ufile.io/xwqlc

  3. (We're still in feature freeze and the changes since then were basically fixes we never had the time when focusing on new features. (That player grouping should be considered a fix because some player being isolated / surrounded by enemies was reported in almost every match as a bug of the affected maps). I'll be happy though when we can change strings again and do real things)

  14. Other games have the random team feature. Thought it would be nice for 0 A.D. to have it. Seems something "missing" when I drop down the team menu. It's not a big deal. It's not something radical I dreamt up out of thin air though.

  15. No no, didn't thought that, just was curious about the track timeline, adding new features, balance changes within a feature freeze.

  17. Hello, I have resolved the issue. For some reason the errors I was getting didn't even matter. When I click ignore and just keep installing it, it still goes through and I'm able to play the game. Hopefully there wont be any glitches. Thank you everyone! Sorry for being newbie.

  20. I'm not sure it might be related, but just seeing as you are installing on another drive than C:\\, do you have at least a couple of GBs free on the C:\\ drive? Even if you install the game on another drive the installer requires there to be enough free space on the C:\\ drive.

  23. Offtopic: in 22 days we have 2 choices we become slaves or we are free before that day and the internet is getting worse and worse everyday. About the zip files, i found a bug with the template of the anglo fortress wich i've already fixed, it was related to the obstruction. I will upload a zip file only with each topic files, when its done and approved like the norse longhouse. so its more organized.

  24. I like auto-scouting, but problem is that a scout unit shouldn't behave itself like it knows a map. Because it'll allow a cheat for an obvious reason. So we need to calculate really accurate, to prevent self-breaking. I have some ideas about it, but it's only ideas with some drafts, need to find some good sources. Also it'd be good to have options for auto-scouting, i.e. follow only beach/shore line to find water borders.

  27. Are there any non-hard (hard is a telephone number verifying) ways to avoid or minimize fake accounts, which we could support? Captcha stops/minimizes automatic registrations by bots, but don't prevent manual registration. E-mail linking - the same as captcha, but costs more time for a registration, so it could filter some lazy spammers. Also we could introduce some in-process verification things, i.e. send verifying email in 2 weeks, to see, that account is accessible. Mostly tmp-mailers do not store emails so long. P.S. Is there any suggestion about a registration security?

  29. The only noticeable difference would be is that a modern computer with a good CPU and a decent amount of RAM (I think most in Gimp is not GPU-accelerated) can do your processing (say image filters and working with high-res textures) a lot faster...

  32. Persian Stables xml don't have the Barracks class, it's replaced with Stables. <Entity parent="template_structure_military_barracks"> [...] <VisibleClasses datatype="tokens">-Barracks Stables</VisibleClasses> Maybe both classes sounds better. Anyway, if we have temples and monks, I don't see the point of this tech. Could be removed from the stables and barracks. (Sorry for my English)

  33. IMHO, each release should have a couple of BIG showcase items, supported by a plethora of small things. This is how you keep the interest high and momentum going.

  37. The different grids (terrain, pathfinding, territory, etc) don't have the same resolution for technical reasons (performance but also by technical design) so I'm afraid it would be difficult to improve that. Alternatively, I think it would be possible (a tad difficult too) to just detect the issue is linked with map boundaries and display another message than "invalid terrain", which is not accurate. I'd suggest creating a ticket, maybe somebody in the future will have an idea so this works without bugs. Backlog, Should Have, UI and Simulation.

  39. Kandake “Candace” of Meroe A very famous Kandake was “Candace” of Meroe; she was the queen of Nubia at the time of the conquests of Alexander the Great. According to legend, Alexander encountered her when he invaded Nubia. However, Alexander never attacked Nubia; but keep reading anyway. The story unveils that when Alexander attempted to conquer her lands in 332 BC, the Kandake arranged her armies strategically to meet him and sat regally on a war elephant as he approached. Talk about showmanship. Having assessed the strength of her armies, Alexander decided to withdraw from Nubia, heading to Egypt instead. Another story claims that Alexander and Candace had a romantic encounter, there has to be a movie here. The whole story of Alexander and Candace’s encounter is unfortunately what legends are made of. The Western name “Candace” is actually a form of the title “Kentake”, try explaining that one in Small town, USA to a bunch of Candy’s.

  40. If you can't find the time or effort to draft an entire civilisation proposal, at the very least present us with some references or links so that the community can explore this idea more fully. I, personally, would love to expand my world view and learn more about early african civilisation and culture. Tell us, show us, describe to us, provide the community with resources so we can get some idea of what Africa was really like, and no doubt someone will be inspired. As serveurix said above, "tell us more". Edit: The wikipedia link to an article describing the ancient city of Meroe is a good start.

  41. See, this is kind of why I jumped the gun. It's the insinuation that most people apparently believe that Africans are a primitive sub-species. Bringing social/racial/historical issues into something which is supposed to revolve around developing a game kind of gets my goat. We're really all here to have fun discussing the game 0 AD. The game's design, its historical aspect, the coding in the game, all that fun stuff. Whereas I don't necessarily disagree with the notion that it would be interesting to see under-represented civilizations included in the game, I do disagree the angle from which you're approaching the problem. You come with the idea that Europeans are evil because they disregard African history and because they had slaves hundreds of years ago. That is why I felt like reminding you that Africans themselves participated in the triangular commerce. Slavery itself is a terrible, terrible thing. NO ONE is questioning that. NO ONE here is pro-slavery (even though it still exists today, mind you). Historically speaking, no country or culture is really innocent of slavery, it's important to remember that. History is history, it should not be forgotten and it should be respected. However the actions we take today shouldn't reflect what happened in history. "He hit me, so I hit back". That sort of thing is silly. I'm French yet I have very good relations with German people. Yet France and Germany have historically been at each other's throats for centuries. Hence my reaction; it might seem distasteful to you or others, but I don't believe I'm completely in the wrong. Nor am I trolling, I am serious when I post my views. This post turned out longer than I had originally anticipated, sorry about that. tl;dr a new civ might be nice and all but I think the civs we already have need some working on either way.
