Athena's owl, the Little Owl (Athene noctua), often doesn't have a specific name in myth but is called Glauca, Glaucus, or Glaux (meaning "gleaming" or "bright-eyed") and symbolizes wisdom, insight, and the city of Athens itself, appearing on ancient coins and associated with her epithet Glaukopis. Species: The specific bird is the (European) Little Owl (Athene noctua), common in Greece. Symbolism: It represents wisdom, vigilance, and the ability to see hidden truths, reflecting Athena's own attributes as goddess of wisdom. Names: It's often referred to as the "Owl of Athena" or "Owl of Minerva" (her Roman counterpart). In Greek, Glaux (or Glauca) refers to the owl and is linked to Athena's "owl-eyed" (glaukopis) epithet. Mythological Connection: Some Roman myths mention a woman, Nyctimene, transformed into an owl by Athena for protection, but this is a later story. Cultural Significance: The owl was a powerful symbol for the city of Athens, appearing on coins and pottery. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Voila: My birthday gift to myself this year: My first tattoo. I chose Athena's owl, Glaucus ("bright-eyed").

Some things to think about for release 29 or 30. 1) Only buildings that can be captured are production buildings and Civic Centers. Any other building cannot be captured, including Houses that have "Fertility Festival" researched and Fortresses. 2) To compensate, introduce three levels of building armor classes. "Civic" or "Civilian" structures will have ~30% hack resistance. "Military" structures (Barracks, Stables, Arsenals, Elephant Stables) will have ~60% hack resistance. "Fortification" structures (Walls, Towers and Fortresses) will have a highest ~80% hack resistance. Pierce and siege resistance doesn't have to be changed, except for structures belonging to the "Civic" class. This should massively simplify game balance and solve the Capture and Delete meta once and for all.

Good catch @yeager! I created a PR to fix that, however we'll have to see if it'll make it into r28: https://gitea.wildfiregames.com/0ad/0ad/pulls/8668

This. Fights necessarily involve attrition. There's a place for formations, especially at the start of fights. But fights shouldn't be determined by on player clicking their fighting units into formation and the other player being slow to hit H before their units try to chase enemy that ran to the back of a formation. As a related note, I don't think units going into formation should be able to run. There should be a cost associated with having a disorganized army and calling them into formation. Right now, going into formation is mostly a gimmick to get kills similar to how dancing heroes used to occur. ---------------- I think the voting options are overly limited. I would want melee in front and range in back, regardless of whether those units are cav, inf, champ, and/or CS.

Still, it is phantastic with all this atmosphere!

petrabot Hidden map and "fog of war" for Petra AI
CheckTester replied to CheckTester's topic in Applications and Contributions
It would be better if Petra AI weren't an all-powerful know-it-all, but instead mimicked the behavior of a real player. It would definitely be more correct if the bot built scouts (land and sea) and scouted the territory. Or did so with any available unit (as real players do). And then, having found something, it would choose tactics to attack or contain. I'm sure it's not that difficult to get a bot to scout the territory. Many new players complain that Petra AI is too strong, even on easy difficulty. And the open map and lack of fog of war are precisely the unfair advantages of the "computer player." If you're unsure whether the bot will be too weak as a result, make it optional when creating a match, using a checkbox like this: [V] "Computer player simulates real player behavior" (slightly obscured, not explicit) or something like that "Petra AI can see the entire map always". Or, in other words, explicit options: [V] Map explored for all Petra AI Bots [ ] Fog of war for all Petra AI Bots -

Problem with User-created Maps and LAN Multiplayer Game

https://gitea.wildfiregames.com/0ad/0ad/issues/7682 There was a problem in 0.27.x with so that it erroneously loaded "Acropolis Bay (2)". It's related to the filter. Removing the keyword of your map should solve it. When i read correctly, you edit the map between the save and the load. That isn't supported. -
petrabot Hidden map and "fog of war" for Petra AI
Perzival12 replied to CheckTester's topic in Applications and Contributions
Yeah, the reason Petra currently needs to see the entire screen is because it decides when to launch an attack based off of the current number of buildings, units, etc. that it's target has, as well as where they are. The hard part would be naval maps, where it would have to sail around with a ship (which it currently only builds fishing boats unless it is attacking) until it found your base. And, on maps with large islands where you are not visible by a ship sailing around you, Petra would have to be coded to land on an island, send soldiers to find you, then get back in then ship and sail back. Another reason Petra can see the entire map is so itcan change it's plans based off of what has happened since it launched an attack, i.e. to make sure it doesn't just walk past new buildings that weren't there when it ordered the attack. -
Yes. It's an exact search, looking for the text, could probably be improved yes. Could you take a screenshot? I'm not very good with responsive design, so things can definitely be improved Yeah it's running on a small server, so I didn't load too much at first. An advanced search could be nice yeah. Do note that not everything is indexed though, so I cannot search everything

Is there a way on firefox to make a clean copy-paste of a picture between browser tabs? I am tired of this unintelligent system copy-pasting the url link sneakingly, making you believe you have copy-pasted the picture itself while you didn't. I really don't want to download every pictures before uploading them, nor using powerpoint as an intermediate app.- 1.042 replies
