I prepared a bunch of mods for you to test and to share with people to find the best alternative :)
Can you guys test them and share them to figure out if any of them is better ?

Sorry about that, I guess that means I got the expected effect though :D People complained the old one was too easy to miss :D

I'm not sure how to reduce to that number though, do I need to change a file?

public\audio\interface\alarm\alarm_attackplayer.xml

I believe is 
    <Gain>0.75</Gain>

May I suggest we make the alert positional? Also, Spacebar (or configurable hotkey) can focus the camera at the alert position.

is over -6 db is obviusly loud.

or click with middle button from mouse.

Believe that's extra code :) If you make it positional you won't hear it?

I'm thinking quasi positional; I'd just want to hear it from the direction it came from, like unit commands and other such sounds. So, directional, not positional and not omnipresent.

I was confused, I thought I knew even less about sound that what I did.  Can you check if the gain is better so I can fix that? I remember it not working for me, but I haven't been playing with sounds for a while.
