  1. This might be related: when playing "Peloponnesian Wars" the load screen created errors regarding the other/unfinished_greek_temple and gaia/special_ruins XMLs.
  2. In vanilla the Syrian Archers are native mercenaries recruited from kleroukha. Delenda Est has them recruitable in faction mercenary camps, and the neo-Cretan archers are recruited as citizen-soldiers in the Archery Range and kleroukha. Here's one proposition if a Royal Stable is implemented: Barracks: Thureos Spearman, Chalkaspides/Chrysaspides, Hypaspist? (swordsman), Arab Javelineer (Thureos if Arab is a mercenary), Polis Cavalry, Dahae Horse Archer Archery Range (mod): Arab Javelineer, Neo-Cretan Archer (Syrian if no Mercenary Camp; Neo-Cretan to be placed in kleroukha), Chariot/Elephant Archer? (Edit) Camel Stable (mod): Camel Spearman, Camel Archer Mercenary Camp (mod): Thracian Swordsman, Syrian Archer (if not in kleroukha), (Edit) Galatian cavalry, Dahae Horse Archer, Tarantine cavalry Stable: Polis Cavalry, Hetairos, Cataphract, Scythed Chariot Royal Stable: Hetairos (if no Stable in mod), Cataphract, Scythed Chariot Fortress: Argyraspides, Romanized Thorakites, Chariot/Elephant Archer, War Elephant (if no Elephant Stable in mod), Gastraphetes Kleroukha: Thureos Spearman?, Thureos Javelineer, Thracian Swordsman, Syrian Archer (Neo-Cretan Archer if mercenary camps are in mod), (Edit) Galatian cavalry?, Macedonian Settler Cavalry? (Hetairos if you don't want to hire from a Royal Stable) Should a Seleucid Royal Stable be captured by another faction, as a special building, it should train chariots (regardless of class) and champion cavalry. Found out that Stables are standard in Alpha 24, so no Royal Stable may be needed.
  3. @Nescio: thanks for your thoughts. There should be some options open, such as a Royal Stable for recruiting both the Scythed Chariot and Cataphract. Or the chariot can be built in the Workshop. and the companion cavalry be placed in a Barracks/Stable. With this, kleroukha can recruit settler cavalry (with different statistics, since they have shields) instead of hetairos. As soon as turrets (or similar garrisoning code) is implemented, the chariot archer (armored, "champion" or "elite citizen") can be (1) upgraded from a mercenary Syrian archer through an upgrade in the Barracks, or (2) recruited directly from the Fortress. In @wowgetoffyourcellphone's Delenda Est there's this Neo-Cretan archer which in my opinion a settler like the Macedonian "settler" cavalry? This would leave the faction with the most champions (or units altogether) though. Chrysaspides can be the elite/fourth promotion of Chalkaspides (or the other way around) given that gold was a symbol of status.
  4. The new Athenian cavalry images look great. Have the images of the Carthaginian siege engines (ballista and oxybeles) been updated in the main game for next alpha? Currently they're not unlike the other factions that have them.
  5. How about spearthrowing (in that slow motion scene)? Something like a re-modeled/textured Iphicrates.
  6. Quick design question: what's with the small black stroke below the chin of the top four snakes? Edit: Any plans for arrow curtains (aprons) for the Athenian marines?
  7. Of course you're misinterpreting: what I mean to say is, the Skiritai, Triarius, and the imperial pilum thrower (former in main game, latter two in DE) were already in Elite rank at recruitment. They should have had their chevrons already removed before (technically, they can be called "citizen champions"). But that is not the issue. The issue is that scouts and mercenaries have chevrons but no experience bar, and therefore cannot promote. If they are intended to never rank up, the chevrons should be either removed or replaced by differing icons. My suggestion would be to allow them to be promoted like normal soldiers (by experience or manual upgrade).
  8. Absolutely. Recalling correctly, the only unit in the base game with this issue is the Skiritai Commando, which has already at three chevrons at recruitment. Delenda Est also has Triarius (Republic) and that pilum thrower (Imperial) starting at the same rank.
  9. That's for the main game; this discussion is for the Delenda Est mod, so a different system in place. There could be an integrated Successor faction with differing heroes (Edit: and technology), but probably the same units and structures and with some minor alterations in between. Edit: @wowgetoffyourcellphone: the armor textures of Philip and Alexander on foot and mounted do not match with each other, are these intended or will be re-textured from one to the other in the future? Same with the Craterus' helmet using different models.
  10. Looking good. How about a later Macedonian faction (elephants, Lysimachus, Altar at Pergamon)? Unless the Epirotes have the exact same units. Edit: Regarding the Argyraspides, suggest that they should be unlocked if there are Mauryas, Successor (Ptolemy, Seleucid, Epirotes, etc.), or Roman factions present since they were formed as veteran hypaspists when they invaded India. As @wowgetoffyourcellphone said in the opening post, all other factions will follow suit. Would suggest if some heroes use elephants or chariots, their mounts would be unlocked when they live, and the heroes can garrison them (with a few units that can join in).
  11. Basically, all units with chevrons should be the ones that can promote after some number of experience points. Imperial centurion should have a star instead of three chevrons as their icon. Edit: Centurion and other commander-related units. The scouts, mercenaries, and a few other units (with icons but do not promote) should have their chevrons removed or must have the ability to promote. If the scouts can be promoted, they could be like the Athenian hippeus or other mounted swordsmen.
  12. Sorry for the long wait, but here are the first sketches! A mix of the city stadium statue (left) and Wikimedia bust (right) with the model already in-game. First image was uploaded at night so yellow lamp was used. (Edit) The second one is the same but uploaded during the day. If you want more whiteness, could re-upload in the daytime. Feel free to use these in your editing programs. Do you need more sketches of King Leonidas, or how about other heroes (Brasidas, Agis IV, etc.)?

  14. Game crashed again with no dialog box tonight 8:22 PM PDT. Only the interestinglog and system info files are close to that time (almost 4 hours of opening the game at 4:43 PM). The crashlog is not recent. system_info.txt interestinglog.html mainlog.html
  15. Just another crash today, same with previous post: no dialog box opened, forced closed.
  16. @Stan`: other than the lack of snakes and studs on the rim, nice try on the re-texture. Hope someone can do better.
  17. All right, here's the situation, @wowgetoffyourcellphone: 1. Currently the Leonidas hero portrait mixes Butler's face and helmet (in the film) with the accurate traverse crest not extended to the shoulders. If the 300 Leonidas actor is to remain (for example, as a scenario asset), the helmet's crest position should be fixed. That can be the new spart_hero_leonidas_300.png. 2. For the proposed new portrait, the Spartan helmet extending to the chin (from the statues and the one from the Spartan bust) will be used; totally different from the hoplite helmets which extends to the neck. Other than that, expect a sketch from me in probably a few days.
  18. The remade aspides look great. The arrow curtains (that you so called shield capes) remake would be an interesting addition since it would require to be animated. Suggest that the Spartan hero shield (Leonidas) to be re-textured to match the statues in Thermopylae and near the city stadium in Sparta:
  19. That Spartan helmet (name?) is different from the Athenian hoplite helmet already in the game? I see. Will make one in a few days or more since currently on classes.
  20. Just checked some other threads. With the current Alpha 24 models in hand, the remade hoplite helmet (preferably the last guy in the yellow teamcolor) would be close to what is expected from the statues: The only re-textures needed are the dots between the crests of the zigzag (holder for horsehair) and that deerlike(?) carving on the cheek. If the Butler actor and portrait are to be kept, the hero helmet should be replaced with the helmet as seen in the film (suggest that the horsehair remain black instead of teamcolor, the latter reserved for the cloak and optionally another part of the helmet). Would be happy if you want sketches to help with the hero portrait improvements.
  21. Isn’t the Leonidas portrait still using Butler’s face in the film 300? Atlas still has that barechested actor. No offense to a game striving for historical realism. Would also want to suggest a change to the helmet (in the portrait and actor) since it does not match the Leonidas statues. Or if there are passages from historians that the king wore a helmet like that as in the portrait/actor. The shield as well, based on the Medusa texture on one of the already-made Hoplite shields (aspis). Thermopylae monument (could not find one with a better close-up of the head and face): Statue near the city stadium in Sparta:
  22. This thread was an interesting read for me. Now that the Mausoleum is out of the way, what is the plan now? From the earlier posts, the decisions are either the palace at Pella or the tomb at Amphipolis.
  23. Before registering on this Forum, had to see some interesting threads such as this one. Has work already been done on garrisoning troops into elephants or chariots (Hyrule Conquest already had such a function mounting a pair of archers into a chariot, what faction was that?). That would add an Archer champion to the Seleucid list. It would be interesting to see pikemen on the walls. @Nescio, you said there are 3 champions (2 extra because of an upgrade) for this faction but someone said it does not historically make sense because the chariots augment the pike formations (frontline) and cavalry (hammer and anvil). borg-'s mod removed the Traditional/Reform upgrade so all four can be recruited, but will the upgrade choices be removed on future releases?
  24. Got them. Turned the overlay on in-game, when I got back to the main menu (after a game or crash), it is still there. My only concern was that the clock (or even the frames per second counter) may not appeal to the eyes appreciating the menu art. Suggest putting them somewhere else (still on the menu like within the menu bar with the buttons), but during a game they can stay there?
  25. Another game crash today. This time it forced closed without a dialog box being opened. That's it. Another crash (no crashlog or crashdump again), this time the application stopped responding and had to force close it manually. This is what happened: commands.txt
