  1. Done proof of concept, it is a behemoth of complexity and brute force, but should cover all biomes. It makes some assumptions on gameplay for each biome (e.g. huge food is possible in some biomes but much rarer while savannah, desert and snowy have greater amounts) so feedback is appreciated. It also introduces the concept of straggler fauna, which is close to cc enough to be usable but not in quantities to make farmstead worth. It exists to help with fauna calculations but may also may be an interesting factor in gameplay. I also allow for the possibility of a single patch of berries or small hunt to exist but it also has a 50% chance of having no extra food at all if food to be placed is 600 or lower. I also slightly reduced the distance from ccs in mainland so that small has a bit of backside and made mineral positions vary more widely. cc @ValihrAnt @Feldfeld balanced-maps.pyromod
  2. Awesome, it works! Thanks for the tips! Is there any documentation on how the image should be generated? I noticed I have to make some gap on the bottom side but I'm doing trial and error.

I am packaging my mod as such: `pyrogenesis -mod=balanced-maps -archivebuild=/home/badosu/Code/balanced-maps -archivebuild-output=balanced-maps.pyromod -archivebuild-compress` When I do that, the `wrench.png` preview image is converted to `wrench.png.cached.dds`. This is my `wrench.json` file: https://github.com/badosu/badmod/blob/master/maps/random/wrench.json#L6 When I try to select the wrench map on gamesetup I get the following crash: tex_dds.cpp(446): Function call failed: return value was -120102 (Invalid/unsupported texture format) Function call failed: return value was -120102 (Invalid/unsupported texture format) Location: tex_dds.cpp:446 (decode_pf) If I change the map preview reference to `wrench.png.cached.dds` it also fails. Any ideas? This is my preview image: https://github.com/badosu/badmod/blob/master/art/textures/ui/session/icons/mappreview/wrench.png Strangely enough I noticed some of the community-maps preview images are not converted into cached.dds, however if I package community-maps on my own machine, they are all converted and fail to load the preview when selected on gamesetup, no crashes though.
  4. I just looked at the code for generating food and I am amazed, that's exactly what I wanted to do but wasn't aware how. In particular the use of `BorderTileClassConstraint`. To do something similar I created an `arcPlacing` function that's overly complex for similar functionality. It will still be useful for some of the current maps on `balanced-maps` but I'll definitely steal your food generator and perhaps even extend it to stone.

Yes, after looking at @Feldfeld's Brittanic Road I'm definitely porting the random food generator as soon as I'm able to figure out how to balance the fauna for each biome (it only works for deer biomes currently). With regard to the trees, these maps were optimized for very specific settings on competitive gameplay (mainland small; cross, wrench and hyranian medium). The wood generator is still the default one, the reason why the trees seem to be few is that some maps have boundaries which prevent them to be spawned. I also had to get rid of straggler trees in cc range to avoid the fig/apple trees to provide additional food. That said, for small sizes I increased the wood multiplier. Unfortunately given the random nature of the default wood generator it still can provide a lot of imbalance that can not be fixed by it, fixing that is beyond my abilities/priorities at the moment.

  8. I'd be in, of course choosing buckets is not that easy but the idea might work though the more complicated it gets the less feasible it becomes. I'd like to see a tg with no restrictions (well, maybe feld and vali not same team XD), make a team to kill spanish team once and for all.

  15. I mean, I don't think we have a hard limit here, upper bracket still has lots of unresolved matches. I recommend posting available schedule on a separate post as prove that you're trying to play the match. If @Dakara does not respond then it's win by absence, otherwise you both sort it out. Stop drama
