  1. I can tell them apart; I can also recognize cav and pedestrians, but to efficiently select a group of units the same as above applies.
  2. @aymericfbI believe one of the most common tips is to disable VSync; did you try that? That's also in line with what @Angenwrote:
  3. Hm. I guess they might be a unit's finger's width closer to the building in the 2nd pic. I still think it's fundamentally wrong that it is possible to not see a building you're working on.
  4. That's interesting. And feels very wrong. I got the words the first time, I just didn't want to believe it. And it also doesn't make it clear to me why my women would have more vision on the object while hammering on it in the second pic than while hammering on it in the first pic.
  5. @AngenSorry, I don't get it. I also fail to see the difference to the second try:
  6. I do my best to keep my soldiers away from warships because of that. On the other hand I think it takes really long to sink an enemy's warship, even when I attack with several warships; I wouldn't want it to take even longer...
  7. My Theatron won't build: My women are hammering their best, but there is no building progress; you can also see that there's no numbers beside the hammer. I had to delete the building and do it again, then it progressed fine. There was some kind of flash on the screen when I first gave the order to build it, but I don't know if that got anything to do with anything; also the logs didn't register anything. savegame-5362.0adsave
  8. I guess the sandy beach is supposed to look like at the very top; all those rectangular areas below don't look very natural. (Pyrenean Sierra)
  9. So, let's talk about ships (and everything wrong about them). Naturally, I do as @Yekaterinasuggests! ;P Eventually my warship killed that fishing boat, but I watched at least five consecutive missed shots in a row which seemed to be a lot of misses. Frankly, I can't say anything about 'elevation bonus', 'launch height' and 'gravity'; so before the more knowledgeable people sort those out I start with two more basic things. First, this Quinquereme looks a lot more like a Trireme: Second, currently the projectile materializes out of thin air behind (!) the mast. On a quick look around the internet I didn't find anything reliable about the ranged capabilities of the (cart) quinquereme; maybe it's possible to add an onager on the ship's deck like in RTW? Hoping for fruitful discussions!
  10. Besides that my warship can magically materialize projectiles, it is also a total stormtrooper. Looks like it always aims at the head of that poor fisherman, naturally that would be hard to hit. (I assume the inner circle shows the minimum range, so that shouldn't be the issue?)
  11. I would think so. Jein (yes and no). I couldn't efficiently pick units by sight, so I either have'em in control groups or I do an area select and take it from there.
  12. Athenians were famous for training wild animals and using them in warfare! Did you do some scouting? In a25 the wild cats won't stop tracking you down if they ever spotted you...
  13. @CeresJust seeing the previews of your posts on the forum's start page brought me to never consider trying it myself... It's a shame that nobody seems to be around who can help you with that.
  14. Nice tools! Total Commander has been the first thing I install on a fresh system for decades; my license probably goes back to when it was called Windows Commander. (And for decades I mostly was too lazy to retrieve the license from my backups and just lived with the nag screen...)
  15. I wish the cursor would return to its original state after using SHIFT+garrison. Currently (and since ~forever) the garrison command 'sticks' to the cursor after using it with SHIFT, meaning one has to do some ~dummy right click or whatever to return it to its standard behavior before selecting another unit or building. I encounter it quite frequently, usually when I release a tower guy and order him to first repair the tower and then garrison inside it again.
  16. Yes, or if it was at least a possibility to order the repair (for example by pressing CTRL).
  17. I had the feeling that a lot of featured maps were designed before someone(s) decided to make the ships ~10x bigger for 'realism'; that, combined with their earlier stupidness, made me really hate them.
  18. Is the two-gender-citizen-mod already too woke for you?
  19. And I also wasn't able to save a game (=>crash). Deleting the fake save file I clumsily tried to manufacture seems to have solved these issues. If someone gave me a more detailed instruction to merge replays than 'do it manually' I might try it again.
  20. What I got from my extensive research (=quick look around the internet), I don't know if a change in stats would be appropriate. For example wikipedia states that dromedaries are prized for being able to outrun horses in the desert; so as long as we don't have terrain differentiation, the speed disadvantage for camels might be a bit one-sided. Also I don't know if size/weight would justify different health values. I saw that Total War Rome has melee cav for the Blemmye faction. So how about making camels CS and giving the Blemmye camp melee cav?
  21. Turns out I can't figure it out ad hoc. One example I found might be a border case: My women were lured from 1 to 2 and kept chopping in that area although 3 was nearer to their original storehouse and right beside another storehouse. I remember a more annoying example from that game, but it seems I broke the save by opening it a couple of times; or so it seemed, actually the game now crashes with a similar error message every time I want to open the open saved game dialog: I would look out for examples, but since my laptop is in the process of dying I might not play too much in the near future. I don't think so; they're clearly trying to get off the site but are (sometimes) too dumb to actually manage it. Although admittedly the last example I'm thinking of it was a large building and the units in question had a moving order which seemed to throw them in an unsolvable confusion.
  22. @FreagarachHow do I merge replays? I needn't go back further than my last played game.
  23. It sounds true for a25. I've had problems garrisoning eles, maybe it was because of a corner. Can't judge on the Athenian dock or the MP issues, but units blocking a construction site and gatherers making terrible decisions on where to go are definitely majorly annoying in a25.
  24. I always hated it. Just let the merchant do his business; instead when I scouted sth with my warship I had to send the commercial nutshell after it. Which is especially annoying when you have hostile ships & fortifications around. But I hated ships anyway and often wouldn't play naval maps because of that. Now ships are less stupid & annoying, but naval maps don't seem to come up with random random maps & default filter.
