  1. Yes! I checked and I forgot to release one guy from a captured fortress. (For if I'm past my towers, my 8 is responsible for securing captured buildings.) I let him out and the group salutes again! I still would like my group to acknowledge me even if one member is garrisoned. I have no idea about this 'first entity ID', but I guess it's a technical necessity? And the silence was like a lottery 'win' because I garrisoned that exact 'first entity ID' guy?
  2. Thanks for the explanation, but single Sparas acknowledged normally, so I guess that can't be the reason. Also what I get from @Freagarach and @maroder is that for them those groups also said something. I just went back to my 00:00 save of that game, made a group of the starting Sparas and when selected, they acknowledged. I opened the save I uploaded, but my group 8 still remains silent.
  3. What would they edit? Isn't a new file generated when the old is deleted?
  4. Probably not. I'll have an eye on it, but if people can't reproduce it, I expect it to be futile...
  5. I didn't even look at the models. Just because of personal preferences I don't want those colors. If people get a use from it, good for them, and I hope they thank you for that.
  6. Don't bother too much what exactly they are. Just kill'em all! Get your meatshields upfront, have your dps behind that - I like to then have a pack of healers - and if you're fancy flank with your cav. And don't neglect your forge upgrades!
  7. Hey @Sp00ky, welcome to the forums. You don't happen to be Sp00ky from BfW Sp00ky's forest? I hereby claim it's natural not being able to make out which unit is what. I either have units in control groups to select them, or I do an area selection and then pick what I want. Personally I think the resources look hideous (sorry), but StarGUI for example makes the projectiles more visible:
  8. Guess it depends how you're playing/what your settings are. I like to turtle until I can start my decisive 'world peace & unity tour', capturing critical infrastructure on the way. When my AI ally attacks early/mid game it always ends with their army being wiped out; even if they successfully destroy the enemies' eco, they have no understanding of pulling back or pulling out. So the enemies' soldiers garrison, my ally pokes at fields or something and gets shot up; and for me it's no fun trying to capture fully garrisoned CCs etc. If my ally gets mighty and attacks late game, they just destroy everything; also no capturing fun for me. Basically, I prefer my ally to hold their flank, be a viable trading partner and to not get in my way otherwise. (And not declare themselves neutral or even allied with my enemies! )
  9. lol, yeah. I was so tired of double checking on them that I didn't double check their spelling.
  10. Whenever a unit or units are selected, they acknowledge it: 'Yes?' (Or whatever they say.) The only exception seems to be groups of Sparabaras; single Sparabara: 'xxx', mixed groups: 'xxx', group with only Sparabaras: nothing. I find that very irritating. Always had to double check I had them actually selected. (Didn't check if other civs' spearmen behave the same.) savegame-0829.0adsave Example: if you select my control group 2 (mixed): 'xxx', if you select 8 (only Sparabaras): nothing.
  11. @Freagarach Does asking for an attack on someone have an effect with the AI?
  12. Yeah, sometimes my AI ally sends help without a flare, although I wouldn't say 'often'. Would be nice if someone with actual knowledge of the code could tell us. @Stan` Do you know, or knows who knows?
  13. 1. There is the flare (in the minimap box); sometimes when I hit it when I get attacked after a while my AI ally will send some units. 2. In the diplomacy panel you can ask your ally/allies to attack a certain enemy. I never used that, but if you ever had them ask you for an attack on someone and watched how after that they slowly gather their units and eventually move to attack, that's what I expect them to do then also.
  14. Don't know exactly what you mean, but before the actual launch there is a phase with release candidates which include all accepted changes even before the RCs you can test the development version you can test every patch by applying it to your version
  15. Me neither. As stated it was a wild idea, to maybe broaden the approach a bit. Not sure if it would be wanted or could be implemented currently. And naturally it would need to be balanced.
  16. I think it could be logically defended. I can see how a workshop is needed to assemble something with moving parts and aligned measurements; for picking up a tree trunk not so much.
  17. This. Just a wild idea: order a couple of guys (2 or 4 inf) to batter (like a special formation); for the price of 100 wood and with a setup time you get a handheld battering ram. But: the ram takes damage while dealing damage; it should be good to take down a sentry tower and then be useless. The ~formation could be released at any time, it would be destroyed when the units are killed.
  18. It probably would. I don't know if there might be a language barrier, but again: there are hotkeys in vanilla. Also for actions: https://trac.wildfiregames.com/wiki/HotKeys
  19. You can select whatever, hit ctrl + a number and then that number is your hotkey.
  20. AFAIK all researchers working on decision making include for example the point 'evaluating alternatives'. Naturally more perspectives and ideas are brought up when several individuals are involved. ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Decision-making#Steps ) I find this idea of one single person making all decisions without any communication not only objectionable, but also totally unrealistic for a project like this; would they take on the complete workload and do everything themselves? Furthermore I doubt that any term based on a fixed number of months will do any good; it should be based on releases or milestones imho. Devs could become unavailable for any reasons, new devs could appear, each having an effect on the progress; likewise unexpected problems, as we are seeing right now.
  21. Corruption is a problem all over the world. (New Zealand again places pretty well.) But I don't think you should always expect the worst of people working on a FOSS project, especially if they already have for years. Whatever authority might be installed, they definitely should consult and explain.
  22. btw Did AoE3 have any impact at all? I'm barely aware it exists, because there's AoE4 and bc it's the new shtuff there's talk about it. But if I'm not mistaken 2 is still much more a thing than 3.
  23. @Fabius Persians also have a unique building with an extra benefit.
  24. @vladislavbelov RC1 would be early enough for me. My friend.
