  1. That should only appear when playing in windowed mode though So I'd say Alt+F4 is more generally useful
  2. Ah, I don't really see any reason to give people that kind of power. Reporting should be enough. I meant the same when I said block as you mean when you say mute
  3. What's the difference? Well, if someone does things often enough to warrant being on a default block list, I'd say they should be banned rather than blocked.
  4. Good call. I'd say the best long term solution would be to include some kind of Report function in the lobby itself. (Say, you right-click on a username and click Report and get a dialog where you can optionally enter a few words of explanation. Then the information is sent to the moderators who can deal with it.) Maybe also a "Block" function that allows a player to block seeing another player entirely (whether in chat or see their games in the list), just to avoid people having to see this kind of abuse if no moderator has time to deal with it right away. That's probably something that needs to be properly considered though as I guess it can be misused. For now maybe encourage people to report any offences either in #0ad-dev, or here in the forums. Mentioning the offending player's username (and possibly the time in UTC? Though I guess that's not as necessary, just would make searching through the logs a bit easier I would assume.), but we should also be clear that there is no need for people to copy what they said as there are logs (maybe just mentioning logs will make some people calm down a bit, one can always hope at least).
  5. On Windows just use Alt+F4 to close the application without any confirmation screens etc, I don't remember if there are similar ways on other OSs, but I would assume there are.
  6. You just need to register and be logged in And the wiki is meant to be updated by anyone who has got something useful to write there So please go ahead and keep improving it when you do have something new to add/update
  7. The short version: the development version of the game. For the more in-depth: see the first link Lion posted for how to access it. As for what it is in more detail: a way to access the development version of the game. Not only are some things easier to access (many image files are in PNG rather than DDS, the data for the game is directly accessible rather than in a ZIP file etc), but perhaps the most important things: it's an easy way to always have the latest new things added (and only have to download the things which have been changed) as well as be able to access old versions of existing files and old files.
  8. This page has got some useful tips as well: http://play0ad.com/community/participate/
  9. It is already linked in the Learn to play Hmm, I will have to look into adding videos, it's not easily possible right now at least. You can add links to videos of course, but from a quick look it doesn't seem possible to add a video directly to the page right now. There might be a plugin for the wiki software that allows that though, so I'll take a look at that.
  10. It would be great if guides etc were posted in the wiki, that way more people can help out adding to it and improving it. Creating something and posting it in a thread is harder to keep up to date in a thread as the game changes (and the original poster might not have as much time to keep working on it as before).
  11. You contributed enough to be in the Donator group (but didn't answer the survey so we don't know whether you want to be included in the Twitter list/forum group etc).
  12. They have not been sent out as there are still a few administrative things left to be done (basically investigate and decide on a shipment provider, order addresses in groups, and order things -- and since it's taken such a long time since the survey we should also ask people to send us an email if they have changed addresses since the survey), which I will try to get done soon. The trouble is that since it has to be done in my free time it has to compete with other more fun things, and since it's boring I'm sad to say it has often lost out to other things. Now after halloween and Christmas etc are over I think I should be able to put in the time required time.
  13. Please don't post the same thing more than once. More civilization phases are unlikely, but we will definitely add more technologies before the game is done.
  14. Because Sanskrit is closer in time to the period the game portrays.
  15. The advice given to the user who made this topic applies to you as well Read through the most important pages of the wiki, compile the game on your machine, and talk to the programmers in the IRC channel
  16. 0 A.D. is voted into the Top 100 in IndieDB's Indie of the Year 2014! Thanks to the votes of you and many others 0 A.D. has been voted into the Top 100 in IndieDB's Indie of the Year awards for 2014. We are of course grateful for this support. Thank you everyone who has voted so far! Please head over to check out the list of game which are in the Top 100 and vote for the ones you like (including 0 A.D. of course ). To find 0 A.D. click on Real Time Strategy Games under Upcoming Games.
  17. True, thanks for the heads up. I'll take care of it.
  18. I'm sorry if that was how that came across, but all I meant was that if you were no longer going to be able (due to a lack of time) to use those permissions there was no reason for you to have them. It was all about keeping things tidy, and nothing about mistrust. And as leper writes above, there's no war/treating you differently from our side, so if you feel that way it's certainly not intended. What we do want to make clear though is that we will not treat you differently from how we treat everybody else, neither negatively nor positively. The programmers try and review patches as soon as they have time, regardless of who submitted them. We do want to try our best to make sure the code is as good as possible though, and that means that even the programmers who have joined the team sometimes do things separately (whether as a patch or as a GIT branch or however they choose) to make sure bigger changes can be tested/reviewed before being included in the main SVN. Now you may agree with that in theory, but with posts such as the ones in this thread it's hard for us to get that impression of you. In other words, so far your words and your actions seems to speak of an attitude of getting things done and getting them done quickly. And there's certainly good things about that, but when it comes to a project of this size it's practically impossible for one person to fully grasp all the consequences of changing some pieces of code or other. Which is why we want to be a bit more careful than that. True, it might be slower at times, but hopefully it means both higher quality code and quicker development in the long run (if less time has to be spent fixing things later). If you want to do things in a different way and commit things as soon as possible that's something you're free to do in a fork, but please understand that it's not how we want to do things for the main repository.
  19. In a way that's already simulated via the "loot" system: i.e. when you kill an enemy unit you automatically get a small amount of resources as loot. Currently this is what you get for a trader: <Loot> <xp>10</xp> <food>1</food> <wood>1</wood> <stone>1</stone> <metal>1</metal> </Loot>We do hope that we will find a way to make it more obvious that this is happening, but it's a bit hard to find a good way to do it as it can't be too "in your face" (say having large floating text every time a unit is killed as that might get in the way of actually interacting with the units in-game), but still needs to be obvious enough for you to notice it. It can of course be done in a more direct way as well, but at least for now we want to try and not complicate things unless we are certain that they improve the game significantly.
  20. Or right now as I enabled it already Real people can be given these benefits sooner, spambots should hopefully never get them So in other words: Genrih -- feel free to send PMs (private messages) if you want to
  21. No, you were not, you were told that it would have been better to do that in the first place, but I split your post out into a new thread already I'm sure I could have phrased it better though. In either case I'll close this one and add the relevant information there.
  22. I'm assuming you mean the loading screen? (See the attached screenshot.) It usually lasts a bit longer than less than a second, but since it depends on how long it takes to load the map it can vary a lot. There is work being done that will give you the choice to have the loading screen stay until you click an "I'm ready" button (so you have time to look at the images/text, or so you can go grab a drink or something before the match starts), see http://trac.wildfiregames.com/ticket/2087
  23. Please create a new bug report for new bugs, and also please provide a bit more information. Judging from you posting in a thread where OpenSuse has been mentioned I would presume 13.1 means OpenSuse 13.1, but it would be nice to have some more information. Is this installed from an OpenSuse provided binary or compiled yourself? If you haven't tried searching for libicu in your distro's software manager, that's probably a good start (though I would have thought that it would have been automatically installed when you installed 0 A.D., but then again I'm not an OpenSuse user so I don't have any knowledge of that software manager).
