  1. The article about the the Macedonian phalanx in Wikipedia, also states that the successor phalanges where more heavily equipped and had longer sarissas (5 meters vs. 7.5 meters) in order to counter the opposing phalanx formation of other successor kingdoms. This sacrificed the mobility of the predecessor Macedonian phalanx. The article cited Polybius' The Histories in the references. Although the article also had citations that lacked references. For example, the article states that Plutarch compared the 5 meter sarissa and the 7.5 meter successor sarissa, giving his point of view that the longer ones are heavier and drained the stamina of the users even more The article also stated that according to Livy, the successor phalanges where hardly capable to turn around, comparing it to the previous Macedonians phalanx, citing the Battle of Guagamela as an example.
  2. "Ancient Macedonian soldiers, from the tomb of Agios Athanasios" Estimated to be dated around 4th century BC https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Ancient_Macedonian_soldiers,_from_the_tomb_of_Agios_Athanasios,_Greece.jpg
  3. @wowgetoffyourcellphone What about the length of the Hellenistic tunics? Did the tunics remained short during that period? (m_tunic_short vs m_tunic_long mesh) If the tunics were still short, then I will have to re-adjust the textures of the Diadochi Greek settlers
  4. @Lion.Kanzen Thanks! Can you upload the .psd or .png files of the cleaned patterns here? That would be very useful
  5. Mail and pteruges combo seems inaccurate according to this historical toy model site, I guess I will not include it anymore. http://www.hat.com/Curr/AnciCAf.html According to the author of the internet article, Carthaginians only acquired chainmail armors through looting dead Roman infantry.
  6. The progress so far, greaves will be replaced with the ones from the art source. The top connective part of the armor will also be a adjusted.
  7. Carthaginian General The African Spearmen Poeni Citizen Lybian and Numidian light infantry
  8. A baseline for the enhancement of the Carthaginian unit textures in the game Work in progress Please post useful references about ancient Semitic clothing and military equipment here.
  9. Anyone who's knowledgeable about the hellenic linothorax? I have a question about pteruges (armor flaps or strips) Particularly about shoulder pteruges. The Macedonians were depicted to be wearing them and even the Romans. But did the Athenians or the other Hellenic groups also used shoulder pteruges?
  10. I have backups in my flashdrives, I have also provided wowgetoffyourcellphone with some of my recent WIPs from last month. I'm planning to upload some of the textures which I think are already finished in the following days. I'm just double checking if there are mistakes in the textures, I tend to rework the textures alot, I often see mistakes in my works and try my best to correct and improve them. That is the main reason why I don't often post the textures with my progress reports.
  11. Progress. [ Quilted linen armor ] Cretan Mercenary Archer above uses the Epilektoi variant (With boots) A variant with sandals should be the proper one (according to the design document) A lighter toned quilted linen armor will also be made.
  12. Blend file link:https://opengameart.org/content/bearded-viking-axe Viking Bearded Axe 136 triangles 2k and 1k textures CC BY SA 3.0
  13. I'll replace those, with the ones from the PSD files that I've found in the art source. I haven't tried to manually draw the leg armor yet.
  14. Opinions regarding iron lamellar plates for the Greek hoplites? The current texture for Iphicrates has, what I believe to be lamellar armor (which could be based on the armor worn by the Mars of Todi statue)
  15. Awesome! You just need to adjust the dirt decals, to make the house look unified with the fence as a single entity. Great job, I really like the 3rd one.
  16. I'm currently producing .png textures using a netbook which has a very old graphics card, so that I can work on textures even if I am at school. My question is, would there be a difference in terms of the quality of the image which I create in graphics software if I make them in a computer that has a low quality graphics card (built in) vs. making them in a computer with a regular or better graphics card?
  17. Some progress. Also, @wowgetoffyourcellphone will be incorporating my textures to his overhaul mod, Delenda Est
  18. It would look even better once the fenced houses are done
  19. The sleeves in the reference image are too wide, even wider than the Celtic druiid mesh's sleeves
  20. I'll see what I can do on the weekend It won't look as accurate as the picture above though due to the meshes limitation (The wide sleeves)
  21. I am also reworking the Thracian peltast textures.
