2nd semester has just started, I'm quite occupied again. I'm currently experimenting on the Achaemenid Persian infantry textures, while trying to add minor improvements on the other texture source files.

The bulky and hard-edged lambda looks too modern, IMO. We need to research more about it. No problem with the sun-rays and other motifs, the aspis asset has it.
-
The pegasus emblem that I found in the art/resource is actually quite good, I have tweaked and re-used it, as you can see below.

Which ones?

I believe this is the reference that was used for the Spartan champion's aspis (shield) design. https://stefanosskarmintzos.wordpress.com/2011/12/16/spartan-shield-devices-episimon/

Ahh, I was wrong, it was Stan's Chalcidian helmets which looked like Corinthian helmets from a distance. -

These are really some cool stuff. I'm looking forward to see these in the game soon. By the way, @wowgetoffyourcellphone who made the Corinthian helmet in DE? Is it also @stanislas69 that mesh was also quite nice. -
http://www.larp.com/hoplite/ This page has a very analytical approach when it comes to hoplite re-enactment. It even criticized Peter Connolly's interpretation of the linothorax.

Petasos (Greek staw hat) needs to have a pelt variant, same with the Pilos. The Kausia (Macedonian hat) needs to be adjusted, the top part should be more rounder and prominent.
-
Ahh, the pteruges. Got it.
-
I haven't added edge details yet, I'm still tweaking the muscle thorax (making the bottow edges rounded and adding areas where the front and back armor divides, plus others)
-
Do normal maps work on the body meshes? I've read somewhere here in the forums that normals aren't supported in animated meshes in the game. IIRC? Enrique does have something more promising though. If only we can acquire his muscle thorax textures.

===[TASK]=== Greek Unit Texture (General Thread)
wackyserious replied to wackyserious's topic in Official tasks
I think this image will work, I will just clean one side of this image to extract the abdomen pattern, then copy the layer and flip it horizontally. Thanks I will then set it to multiply and apply it to the leather material texture in order to incorporate it into the current .psd -
@stanislas69 @LordGood Should I downsize the textures to 256x256 when I upload them? I remember Enrique requesting me to upgrade the textures to 512s but he also mentioned that he will downsize them in-game, he kinda wanted a high resolution source file.

Do not upload the ones that I made, those are outdated. The current source file has undergone a lot of change.

I do not want to open a new task yet, since I'm already working on least 5 tasks at the moment. Maybe after we finish working with the Celts and the Greeks. -

Also, according to the design document, they should be wielding the longsword single-handed while wielding a shield on their other hand. A quick search online about the Kirkburn mail tunic, most of the samples found in illustrations and reconstructions depict the kirburn mail tunic as something very similar to what the Republican Roman army have copied to their Celtic neighbors.

It has a clasp, I forgot unhide the layer for the clasp. Regarding the torques, I agree with that.
