  1. I wonder if the "Goths" were the "Scythians" of old.
  2. Xiongnu, Scythians, Huns. I've created preliminary versions of each in my Delenda Est Git repository here: https://github.com/JustusAvramenko/delenda_est Obviously the nomadic civs should have some similar attributes. No territory bonus or restrictions Consequently, their buildings have -50% health and loyalty Raiding and Looting bonuses A focus on cavalry Cavalry units can build Livestock bonus, called "Pastoralism." Packable buildings Some kind of raiding/loot bonus Mobile "cart" dropsite that can upgrade into a storehouse or yurt Starts each match with a free Yurt (house) No stone walls, they get Palisades in City Phase instead. Uncovered battering ram = 4 armored dudes carrying a log around Some female military units, either as actor variations or standalone templates But each should have its own civ specific traits. Xiongnu Team Bonus: ? Xiongnu battering ram can upgrade to a covered battering ram More armor techs? Falcon Scout special starting unit Falcon Huntress special hunting/scouting unit Anything? Scythians Team Bonus: Goldsmith Mastery: Allied gatherers +10% metal gathering rate, allied technologies -10% metal cost A "settlement" option Removes packing ability Adds a territory effect and health bonus to 75% of standard? Unlocks Fortress and Stone Walls Bosporan "Greek" mercenaries Headhunter female champion cavalry Royal Scythian heavy champion cavalry Anything? Huns Team Bonus: Winds of the Steppe: Allied Cavalry +10% speed and +1 pierce armor No "elite" rank? Starting structures are all in the "Packed" state, meaning they always start in a quasi-nomad mode A wide variety of "mercenaries" based on their subject peoples: Goths, Alemanni, Alans, et al. Traction catapult? Anything?
  3. Delenda Est has the same problem, because each civ has male/female citizens and slaves in the same unit. I feel like audio stuff should go in the actors, but there's probably a good reason its in the templates. Just need a way to differentiate male/female voices for the randomized actors and I think that would need to go in the actors. Anyone else have any thoughts? Is there a ticket for this?
  4. Am I the only one who doesn't want AOE4 to be a "classic" RTS? "Classic" RTSs are supremely clunky in today's age. The world of gaming has moved on. RTS has moved on. Give me something new and interesting. Take the AOE style and continue to push forward.
  5. Maybe issue with "gaia" in the template name.
  6. I am more likely to believe the original oral tradition meant literal days. Only later did apologetics attempt to add a non-literal nuance to the story. Sure, the far ancients were capable of nuance, but they literally believed there was a God who created the Earth, so why couldn't He do so in literally 6 days? He's God after all. The Ancient Greeks literally thought Hades existed below their feet. It wasn't metaphorical to them (there was the Necromanteion in Epirus where they literally believed they could enter Hades or commune with it). It's true that it's not clear cut, but I really think that in ancient times it was meant to be clear cut. Human settlements were quite isolated for thousands of years. Most people were born, lived, and died within a 5 mile radius.
  7. Oh... I thought this could help 0 A.D. I guess not.
  8. https://hacktoberfest.digitalocean.com/ Support open source and earn a limited edition T-shirt.
  9. Not as many icons as you'd think anymore, but some. As far as work goes, wouldn't be much. Not much would be "broken" per se since you're just overwriting a bunch of stuff. The most broken thing would be the AI. Mostly facetious anyway since you'd have 2 dozen highly ranked players coming to the forum to loudly complain.
  10. To jumpstart gameplay (and annoy all of the top-tier players) you could merge DE into the dev branch (well, minus all the new menu backgrounds and stuff like that). Gotta get the art all-stars back in the game too, @LordGood @wackyserious @Alexandermb New music from @OmriLahav would definitely be encouraging!
  11. In many ways I think a grand/strategic campaign would be easier to achieve than a narrative campaign.
  12. Interesting that the other myths "confirm" the Bible's telling, instead of the other way around? Floods are one of the major natural disasters which plagued early mankind, especially since we have the habit of building our dwellings on or near floodplains. It is not surprising that the myths and legends of many ancient peoples include large floods. There's also, as @Sundiata mentions the massive sea level rise after the end of the last glacial period, which contributed to the flooding of the Mediterranean basin and later the Black Sea basin.
  13. Looks nice on my bookcase, along with my Indy hat and Excelsior class Enterprise-B.
  14. I feel like the Huns are better for late antiquity. Mongols feel better for Millennium AD. That's up to them though of course.
  15. Making a Huns faction. First things first: Was wondering what references we have from which to base a civ emblem. Google images doesn't offer much for me.
  16. I'll see if I make a fix release for this (and of course include other new stuff I've been working on), mainly adding the nomadic civs (Xiongnu from Terra Magna, Scythians, and Huns; they'll all use primarily the art assets from TM for now; having 3 different nomadic civs allows me to try different gameplay stuff for each).
