  1. Honestly, I think they're using the method I mentioned.
  2. I think the top of the body would be the "turret", while the lower body sitting on the horse would be a separate prop attacked to the horse actor. We'd then need logic that limits turret rotation angle.
  3. Speaking of turrets. AOE4 has cav archers that fire while moving.
  4. Thank you, but this doesn't work right. Hmm. Flames should billow out of the front and it should almost work like a ram, melee. If it can be hacked to look good with a ranged attack then we can go with that, but I always envisioned it like a melee attack.
  5. I am attempting to do exactly that, but I am hitting a wall of errors. I asked @Freagarach to assist me with the template.
  6. Alright, the only think I think that's holding them back from official release on mod.io is their Fire Raiser. It throws an error. Once I figure that out, it might be all good to go, unless someone finds another bug.

  11. I like the God Ray thing because it can be nice and subtle. It literally points at the hero. I am familiar with the "hero glow" from Age of Mythology. It's not bad. Perhaps an Option item to turn off and on.

  13. Teehee, I work quick! The parent cavalry template didn't have an attack specified, so I had to do it in the scout template.
  14. I liked the "God ray" effect from Rise & Fall: Civilizations at War.
  15. The projectiles just look so weird. Straighten those out and it immediately looks a lot better. If I look at it as a kind of 3D update for AOE2, then I like the look of everything.

  18. I'll give this one 1-2 weeks for testing, then I'll bundle it and post it up on Mod.io. It's a small mod, so if you guys test it out for me and give me feedback I can quickly make changes and finalize everything. For those who know how, feel free to submit pull requests for changes and fixes. Otherwise, feel free to ask for changes here in this thread or to report bugs.
  19. Scout Cavalry mod repository is UP. https://github.com/JustusAvramenko/scout-mod This standalone mod adds Scouts to Empires Ascendant. Based on discussion here and elsewhere: Features: Starting Cavalry now replaced with Scout Cavalry for all civs (a couple civs get Scout Camelry for variation). Scout Cavalry cannot hunt, but they can build Outposts and, well, SCOUT. Outposts removed from Infantry and Female Citizens and given to Scouts exclusively to emphasize their scouting nature.
  20. 1. That Scout cav bringing back the entire deer carcass is pretty darn cool. 2. I like the dead/depleted berry bush. 3. I love the gold "veins" on the mines. 4. Cliffs and mountain tops are pretty awesome. 5. The grass actors are very nice. 6. The farm fields changing colors is something I've wanted for 0 A.D.
  21. DE's Libyan, Bedouin, and Arabic units (some textures taken from MAD) might work for inspiration?
