  1. @Carltonus See if this one tickles your fancy! Fixed the names and then added the DE Athenian Battering Ram actor fix. theban_greeks_a24_0_2.pyromod
  2. Check out what DE does with the Macedonian barracks and Stables. You can upgrade them to Royal Barracks and Royal Stables, which allows you to train Elite citizen-soldiers and Champions.
  3. Thank you for playtesting. I will fix the naming issues as well as maybe including the Athenian ram fix.
  4. How about just removing one or more of their carry capacity techs? That way microing the elephant becomes more important.
  5. It's actually because the dev team doesn't want to hear whinging from a loud vocal minority. The vast majority of players would adapt just fine. I would think you'd want to learn new build orders and strategies based on a changing meta and evolving gameplay, but apparently not. "Fortune favors the Mundane."
  6. Indeed. I wonder if the complaints about the worker eles are off base, as you indicate. The "real solution" may be a slight nerf of archers and adding in some new unique benefits for other civs.
  7. Another thought would be to give her "exercise" idle animations. Spartan women were the only Greek women allowed ritualized exercise as the men did.
  8. Can you see if this fixes the problem? theban_greeks_a24_0_1.pyromod
  9. darn! Good catch! I'll fix now and re-upload the mod.io file. I don't think @Itms has looked at it yet. It's not a huge bug (it only appears once), but if I can fix it under Itms's nose, then I should.
  10. Oh, basically if you research the tech the Corral would spawn (at no additional cost) X number of chickens per minute up to a maximum amount, and these could be slaughtered for food by the player. Such a gameplay feature could even be used for the Persians, for example, to spawn a number of free Immortals champions per minute from the Apadana to keep the number of Immortals alive at a certain number.
  11. I did struggle at first on how to distinguish her actor from the others. This is what she looks like next to the standard Spartan female citizen: If it was more historical to give her a shield and spear, I would, but that's more the realm of Hollywood, sadly. Boudicca, Tomyris, and Amanirenas are really our only good bets for martial female heroes. Artemisia, a naval hero for Persians perhaps.
  12. If we're making an historical game about building cities and fighting wars, then building farms in the middle of town doesn't make "gameplay" sense anymore than than having triremes fire cruise missiles, even though that might be "better gameplay" to some people. Good. The game is still in heavy development. I know you're a good player and you like the way things are in the game, but frankly this game's past and future development is measured in decades. The developers need to build a game for the future, not for how some people liked it in one of its past alphas. You're just going to have to adapt to change.
  13. Hero selection for Sparta. Need techs for Lysander and Cleomenes.
  14. Queen Gorgo, now trainable if you choose Leonidas as your hero. She has a number of "homeland" benefits and can only be trained once (as opposed to 5 times for your selected hero).
  15. I kind of agree. A couple goats and sheep could easily replace chickens and be better for gameplay. I was thinking chickens could be cosmetic anyway, or perhaps a "Chicken Coop" tech at the Corral could spawn a number of free chickens.
  16. Indeed. I wonder if EA should make Temples increase capture points of buildings.
  17. IIRC, @OmriLahav has a busy professional career now. We might be able to beg him for a couple more tracks though. With 'Upkeep' being a new feature for A25, perhaps we can add that for mercenaries where they cost X amount of metal every Y minutes (I'm going to experiment with it for DE using the coin resource). The feature makes the mercenaries unresponsive to the player if they run out of metal (or whatever upkeep resource they require). https://trac.wildfiregames.com/changeset/25191 https://code.wildfiregames.com/D1323
  18. It's not just historical reality, it doesn't make any sense at all.
  19. I wonder if I should change the Stoa aura to one that increases building loyalty instead of health, since capturing is so important in EA.
  20. Indeed, and if there were fewer resources parked right up next to the starting CC, it would behoove the player to scout out the nearby resources.
  21. Thank you @Stan` for help fixing the problem. THEBANS ARE NOW ON MOD.IO AWAITING APPROVAL https://0ad.mod.io/theban-greeks
  22. My original idea with 'Cultures' is that each 'Culture' came with a set of features or bonuses, and that a civ could be a "member" of more than one culture. So, Seleucids could be of the "Greek" culture (Theatron structure and "Hellenization" aura, plus a set of armor techs in the Forge and spearman bonuses) and the "Persian" or "Eastern" culture (a trading bonus and cavalry bonuses). It would show that cultures can and do meld. Carthage would have a "North African" culture (North African War Elephants) and a "Semitic" culture (Mercenary and Naval bonuses), each culture bestowing a set of techs, auras, buildings, or bonuses. A civ with only one culture would then be allowed 1 or more unique bonuses to that civ.
  23. I'd think then it would be better to load up a list with check boxes so you can check (or uncheck if checked is the default) which biomes you want.
