5 shield patterns not enough? 5×5×5 possible variations not enough?

I was thinking of just limiting a unit to 5 body textures, 5 helmet varieties, and 5 shield patterns. This is still a lot of visual variation, I just want to tighten it up a little. Some units have 10+ body textures for instance.

I was actually going to go through and reduce some of the body texture variants in a lot of the actors. For readability and it would also "open up" a bunch of the textures for new units.

Just remove the cost increase feature, then set their auras to "stackable": false, until the Minister cost feature can be properly implemented (I'd like to see this feature implemented for DE's Cult Statues, actually). The only reason for the increasing cost of each Minister is to balance the stackability of their auras.

So, I will release a hacky version for Alpha 24. I didn't edit any of the unit counters, so the soldier stats should be similar or identical to Alpha 24. However, the classic mode of building anywhere, having scouts, and 2-gendered citizens who do all the work are all there. Release Candidate: classic_mode_a24_1.pyromod -

It's really not bad. But it goes against the prevailing wish of making the UI more complicated by showing more stats. I prefer as simple a UI as possible, so I really like it.

That's certainly true. But I had trouble understanding what was happening without corresponding new art. It's early of course. The modder could put years of his or her life into it and turn it into a Pirates of the Caribbean RTS.

Pausanias makes mention of the "Persian Stoa" in the Spartan agora. Called "Persian" because its construction was financed through spoils from the Greco-Persian War. When it as built, I am sure it was quite simple, similar to the "Painted Stoa" in the Athenian agora, but by the time of Pausanias the stoa had been embellished and enlarged many times so that it was covered with statues depicting the famous characters from that war. Also, the remains of a stoa from Archaic times was excavated in the Spartan agora during the 1924-1925 season by the British School of Athens. A Roman building was later built over part of it, but apparently the original size and shape is known.

A "pirates" mod is a fun idea for sure. We need more modelers and animators in the community tho!
