  1. Found them! I had looked in C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\0 A.D. alphainstead of C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\0adlogs.zip
  2. I just started from a command line, there are no messages. I couldn't find any logfiles - I followed the instructions and found only an empty "log" subdirectory with a reanme.txt in it. One of the things that seems to be happening is that elements are still there after they should have been hidden or destroyed, e.g. the overlapping screen tips in the top right corner in the last screenshot.
  3. On the start screen, the backgrounds for the menus aren't drawn properly. I have the same problem when starting a game, but during the game, everything looks fine. The result screen is then screwed up again. You can see my graphics settings in one of the attached screenshots. 0 A.D. Alpha 19, Windows 7 64 bit, NVidia GeForce GT 540M
  4. I don't think that the detailed model would work here, because that would take too much managing time away from the military part of this game. I see 0AD's focus somewhere in the middle: It is part city builder, but the ultimate goal is to invade and defeat the enemy. /begin shameless plug BTW here's another example of a city builder, similar to The Settlers: https://wl.widelands.org/ /end shameless plug
  5. Glad to hear that you managed to solve the problem
  6. I also think we should have ESC for cancel and Return/Enter for OK. Confirming something with the "I made a mistake, get me out of here" button is counterintuitive IMO. Maybe you could use something like #ifdef _WIN32 to get the basic order of buttons?
  7. Is is generally used by programmers in FOSS projects. +1 means you agree, -1 means a veto. You can also use 0.5 etc to signal partial agreement.
  8. http://wildfiregames.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=15796 I'm not a developer, so I can't give you more detail on how far this has progressed. Since everybody is working on this in their spare time only, it is hard to say when the problem will be solved.
  9. It should be possible to end a pause early too - for when the person requesting the pause returns earlier.
  10. You could open a ticket so that somebody browsing Trac might stumble upon it in the future. Also, this way the idea won't be forgotten.
  11. Thanks! I think the risk of making a mistake with capitalization here is rather low, because it's the start of a sentence. I will leave that up to you.
  12. I used the installer downloaded from the homepage. ETA: I just did a fresh install of my whole system, so the culprit can't be an older 0AD version leaving crud behind We only got the language into ICU last Autumn, so this might be part of the problem. ETA: Found the announcement. Maybe you can uppercase the first letter automatically with some ICU function? It would make the menu look better.
  13. Here's a screenshot of my language menu: Some languages have their first letter in lower case and some in upper case too.
  14. This is how the diplomacy window looks in Scottish Gaelic (gd), with civilization names and whatever is in the "Theirs" column. The only solution I can think of is to make the window bigger. Another thing I noticed is that the language's name in the language selection is still "gd" instead of "Gàidhlig".
  15. I think video games are an edge case, just like crafts and design - the borders are fluid and not easily defined, and it also depends on what the game is like. I think that anything made by the creative impulse and that someone perceives as an art form is art. In this sense, coding can also be an art form - OK, all you do is logic and mathematics really, but then you create something new that gives you joy - isn't that art? In that sense, even translating the game can be an art form, when you hit a difficult string and get creative and then finally manage to find something that works perfectly, and even might be a bit different from the original. I find this quote from the Wikipedia page illuminating: I think it only becomes difficult when legal issues are involved - e.g. like free speech. This can be true for board games as well as video games - here's a satire, for example: http://www.waronterrortheboardgame.com/.
  16. 0Ad utilza C++ y não C. Puede tentar http://www.learncpp.com/ pero está em inglês. Desculpem o meu Portuñol
  17. Just a shot in the dark, if you still have a license for an old Windows version, you might try Virtualbox or VMWare
  18. For African civs, we could look at fractal designs http://www.ted.com/talks/ron_eglash_on_african_fractals
  19. No, but you posted it in the localization thread, so I asked the mods if they could please split this off
  20. It will probably be offensive to a lot more people who don't speak up I like the decommissioning idea - we could make them walk to a barracks or civ center first?
  21. I have a question regarding recent string changes. In this string: S or \[down]: Pan screen downis "down" to be translated or left in English?
