More Updates on the World Rising Mod: Units and Technologies! Hello everyone! I'm pleased to share further progress in the development of the World Rising mod! The focus of this update was to further enhance the troops and technological progression: Units with New Textures: I bring you new images of the units, now featuring completely redone textures! They are more detailed and faithful to the historical period. New Technologies: I have added 12 new technologies to expand the options for development and strategy in the game. My goal is to finish all units by the end of this week. I hope you like the work! Please take a look at the images below and leave your comments!2 points

Game Mode Concept: In this mode, the player starts in the Stone Age and progresses until the fall of the Roman Empire (for now). You can choose from various civilizations across the globe, including peoples from the Americas, Europe, Asia, and Africa. At the beginning, the player leads a nomadic group taking its first steps toward settlement and the development of early tribes. As you advance, you’ll face challenges such as animal domestication, agriculture, the rise of cities, and the emergence of empires. The goal is to survive, expand, and evolve your society through the ages, dealing with wars, alliances, and technological revolutions. Building and Unit Evolution: Each building evolves uniquely as new technologies are developed, granting players progressive benefits. These changes are visually reflected in-game through detailed graphical upgrades that showcase your civilization's technological advancement. The same system applies to units, which undergo distinct visual transformations with each upgrade—whether through weapon crafting, armor development, or clothing improvements. This allows players to visually track their society's progress, from primitive tools and garments to sophisticated weapons and attire. Resources and Mod Objective: This mod introduces an expanded resource system including hides, bones, water, clay, and other essential materials, adding depth and realism to the gameplay experience. Each resource will have strategic value for both development and defense of your civilization. While focusing primarily on your people's growth and empire building, the experience integrates combat elements. Our vision offers: Hours of strategic societal development A comprehensive cultural and technological evolution system Tactical combat that impacts empire growth The satisfaction of building a lasting civilization Challenges of governance and territorial expansion The experience balances construction and conflict, where the ultimate goal transcends mere enemy conquest - it's about creating a civilization that survives and dominates through the ages, through both development and strength when necessary. I am currently working on the Jomon culture that will become Japan in the future.1 point

So there won't be resources that only certain civilizations have? Like Native Americans having a Bead resource or Chinese having a Silk resource?1 point
-
Wow, there are a WHOLE lot of resources. Are there any civ-specific ones, or just generally tons of resources?1 point

Nice work! You seem to have some normal issues. If you're using Blender you might use the reset vectors tool while in edit mode with everything selected. This might fix some buildings/boats looking dark.1 point

If anything goes they can just receive "gift from the gods" and get on with it.1 point

I think it looks good to include a bit of their equipment. They are not screenshots of the actor units, but they do have components from screenshots. In fact, they are so fit into the "norm" that they are long lost cousins of other heroes! The fact of the matter is nothing gets done unless someone does it. I am no artist and I don't think we should wait years for artists to deliver stunning portraits just for the GUI.1 point

At the end of the last decade, for one or two years Track 1 'Honor Bound (0 A.D. Main Theme)' was my alarm clock song.1 point

Ok. I will start from mod guide and Millennium A.D. first. Thanks for the info!1 point

There should be other ways to win, such as a victory through trade influence. You initiate trade with a neutral faction (it doesn't need to be on the map), and the more resources you give them, the faster you achieve victory. There could also be a fifth resource, something like glory, where the player achieves victory if they reach a certain number. Glory could increase with a number of kills, territory size, etc.1 point

You mean, re-introduce? They were available briefly in Alpha 16, but every civilization had them for specific unit classes only. It's a good idea.1 point

I'd honestly like to introduce the promotion upgrades as seen in DE. Probably double the base XP needed to promote, then introduce techs that promote them all to the next rank for a cost. That way you don't lose auto-leveling, but you can have the techs that introduce progression. Perhaps standardize it thusly: All C-S classes get the Advanced Rank promotion tech, but each civ only gets the Elite Rank promotion tech for one C-S that's their signature C-S unit. Hoplites, for example, for Athens and Sparta, Archers for Persia, Swordsmen for Republican Rome, etc.1 point

(Insert Pepperidge Farm meme) I was already here to remember a different version of the tracks that were later remastered. And then when some of the now "old" songs were brand new. It's hard to believe there are this many of them. And I wonder how many times I might have listened to all of them. I remember playing them outside of the game too, but I was already doing so like 15 years ago. At this point I got quite desensitized to them and it's harder to focus on the music (which makes them even greater background music). Btw, @OmriLahav was here recently, so I guess he'll like to hear our appreciation here too. He really gave the game a major part of its soul. All seriousness aside, imagine if The Player Of Many Names downloads the songs and after a while he'll be like "Oh wow, that's a nice beat, is that something new?". And then he'll check the song name and it says "You_are_Victorious!.ogg".1 point

Despite the danger of revealing my preferred civilizations, my favorite tracks: Eastern Dreams: all time favorite, even my wife plays it in the car Sands of Time: so fun to listen to Forging a City State: i just want to grab a hammer and build something... The Road Ahead: same as above, the start of a magnificent city Harvest Festival: such a happy feeling In the Shadow of Olympus: takes me on an Aegean island The Hellespont: same as above Water's Edge: just the calm feeling of being near water From the new ones: Bandit Country: unleash the power of Africa!1 point

Cool @Vantha, I was missing the Chineses song. And about the Carth's song, Peaks of Atlas, I love it!1 point

Me too. And the game actually has even more soundtracks than those 26. A lot of new ones came with A26, they only haven't been added to the website yet. Here's a zip with all of them (61 in total): 0ad-soundtracks.zip1 point

At Wildfire Games we try to create a safe and welcoming space for all players. As everywhere on the internet, this can be challenging. While we try our best to do so, we also rely on volunteering moderators from the community to help us to enforce our Terms of Use. While enforcement of rules is always subject to interpretation, there are some principles which guide the work moderators do: Moderators are expected to be role models and follow the Terms of Use. Moderators must not engage in conduct that would be considered harassment, coercion, or intimidation. Moderators must treat all players according to the same standards. There must be no arbitrary preferential or punitive treatment of individual players. In their role as moderators, they must only use official channels for communication, in particular only the official multiplayer lobby server, the official 0 A.D. IRC channels and the official 0 A.D. forums. Moderators must internally document the reasons and details of corrective actions they take. Moderators must not share details about corrective actions with people other than the involved parties, other moderators and members of Wildfire Games. Moderators must not share personal information about players they learned in their role as moderators with anybody who isn't a moderator or member of Wildfire Games. If you feel a moderator violated these principles or if you'd like to support us with moderation, please send a private message in the forums to @Dunedan. Aside from members of Wildfire Games the current community moderators are: @rossenburg @Palaiologos @MarcusAureliu#s @Chasca1 point
