@Helicity it’s also possible to repair rams in the middle of the fight, get ram damage upgrade and hack armor upgrade. Pikemen are great for repairing rams because their damage contribution is negligible, so anything else they can do while tanking damage is quite significant.2 points

sorry but no. turtling almost does not exist in 0 A.D. and we are not going to remove logical coherence just because of that. and putting a horse in a tower is not logical either. -when soldiers defend a tower it is also an abstraction of other attacks made by infantry, such as throwing rocks or boiling oil. if they hide swordman they mean they are smart. and it's perfectly logical, besides you can use infantry inside the Rams. it's not going to accommodate personal preferences. not without a strong logical-gameplay argument. it's not going to accommodate personal preferences. not without a strong logical-gameplay argument.2 points

If you want to alleviate "turtleing", which does exist and can be a little annoying although not hugely problematic, directly address the problem: slightly increase ram hack armor. change building arrows behavior and/or damage. just addressing the symptoms as you have suggested would result in inconsistencies and further problems.1 point

You just need to have a lot of your own units guarding several rams. Then the swordsmen will die before they can kill all the rams.1 point

Have you already discovered the hotkey for "idle unit"? I use that one in 99% of cases and cant really remember any case where I used "idle worker" recently. I think it works as intended and selects also champs and worker eles. I think that the numbers near the minimap shouldnt show the number of idle workers but just the number of idle units in total1 point

As is tradition, Delenda Est already has this cool feature. https://github.com/JustusAvramenko/delenda_est/blob/master/simulation/templates/template_structure_economic_farmstead.xml#L13 And it works pretty nicely. Try it on the Miletus Peninsula skirmish map in the mod, since there's a nice free Farmstead nearby you can capture or the new Isthmus of Corinth skirmish map, which also has 2 nearby capturable Farmsteads. As an aside, the mod makes a distinction now between Granaries and Farmsteads. Granaries are built by the player, while Farmsteads are gaia objects you capture to get the Farmland aura. But of course "under the hood" "Granaries" still use the Farmstead nomenclature to not screw up the AI.1 point

@Yekaterina we should not call them idiots when it comes to choice of games or Operating Systems, If a lot of people find value in one OS or games, I believe that inherently it has some value, For example most software companies will only trust Linux more than windows in their servers because Linux is superior to windows when it comes to managing servers. Big tech companies are investing in Linux and they are kind of premium members of Linux foundation and linux is getting big money due to this companies. but desktop linux is divided into different distros and each distro is nothing more than a glorified repo to host OS and application and one different way to install linux. I felt like the leading Desktop Environment like gnome is kind of a copy cat of MacOS. also for general users using even a windows machine is hard I believe a lot of people use windows because the people sell them their machine don't know much about Linux. When I bought a laptop from a local shop they know how to install windows inside but when I asked them to do a dual boot and install linux in it. they kind of talked like superstitious people and said that is impossible to dual boot that laptop so I came home and installed fedora myself but I had to get help from online resources on how to do it and in the process I was able to learn some thing about the machine I am using. what I am asking is what choice does a non technical person have if the sellers won't support linux. It's plain simple like Linus torvalds said they have to do it themselves. most people are interested in using this sophisticated machine to do daily tasks and don't want to get in trouble by tweaking it or changing it because if they do something wrong all that the machine is going to show is a black screen. but I won't call them idiots just because they cannot change OS in their system. I own a motorcycle I don't change oil in it or change ABS liquid or try to tweak then engine. I take it to the mechanic and I will never try to do that myself because it's a life and death problem and I am not a mechanic Even if I can learn it I don't want to because I am not interested in it, I just want to ride my motorcycle from point A to point B. without marketing people won't learn about product I think we have to face the reality that not all people are technical. and technical knowledge varies from person to person not every 0AD player is a doing development of 0AD only a few people developing the game and I think they don't get much time to play the game at all. I also want to talk about AOE and 0AD comparison but I am ending this post because It seems like I wrote too much in one post may be readers will loose interest if I put everything in one post. I will continue If you want to hear about it and if you agree what I write makes some sense.1 point

Hi all, I would like to propose some changes to garrisoning units, please hear me out: 1. Allow cavalry to garrison in infantry barracks and vice versa. This would be useful and perfectly reasonable. 2. Allow cavalry to garrison in towers. The rider can tie his horse under the tower while he climbs up. 3. Do not allow Sword units to garrison in fortresses and towers. To prevent turtling, especially considering that many civilisations do not have catapults. 4. Melee units don't increase arrow count of defensive buildings. Again, to counter turtling.0 points
