  1. Would you be interested in designing efficient build orders to take the following challenge? (1) Use Spartans on a small mainland map (subalphine biome) with low starting resources. (2) Don't take any extra berry beside the starting berry (but you can take extra hunt). (3) The maximum woman population is 50. With the above setting and requirements, please try your best to reach 100 pop in the fastest time. The 100 units need to be on the map (units in the queue don't count). You may make the pop exactly 100; once the 100th unit comes out, you may stop and record the time. Please post your time and your replays here. Leaderboard (standard setting with no team bonus; only players with replays uploaded are listed) 1. 7:01 Player of 0 AD (weirdjoke) 2: 7:10 Feldfeld 3. 7:20 Philip the Swaggerless 4. 7:27 ValihrAnt 5. 7:30 ISlan 6. 7:40 Freagarach 7. 7:42 Grapjast 8. 7:45 cl2488 9. 7:58 Vrayer 10. 8:08 Letswaveabook 11: 8:15 alre Additional note: 7:16 Player of 0 AD (weirdjoke) (using multiple team bonuses, a revealed map and a hero to help kill the hunt).

  2. You would get several good players without a prizepool, it is not needed in my view. A good number of high rated players would probably just join for either having the honor of: 1: Beating Vali in the finals. 2: Being Vali.

  6. Extended from this thread: Github Repo: https://github.com/JustusAvramenko/0ad_terrains_overhaul @maroder, myself, and others are looking to build upon the biome and map work we did for Alpha 25. We will post discussion and progress reports in this thread. We will also entertain suggestions, bug reports, and criticism here. First thing Maroder is working on is improving Gulf of Bothnia random map. First thing I am working on is improving the India biome. I'm making wider spaces to build and removing the obscene amount of grass props. ------------------------------------------------------------------- In addition to improving the existing new biomes from A25, I'd like to add a few more for A26: Hispania-North Africa Italia Persia ------------------------------------------------------------------- We would also like to work with the team to extend and expand the biome code to allow for more flexibility and interesting maps. Wishlist. Note: Not all random maps are required to use all options available in the biome files: Additional Gaia options fish1 fish2 treasure1 treasure2 treasure3 bushForest1 So, these are bushes, plants, and saplings that line the edges of forests. 7. Maybe I am too old and stuck with the slow paced old school RTS... But 100 pop in 7 minutes is one of the reasons why I don't actively play 0 A.D. anymore...

  9. I tried something and to be the first to put a timing on the mark, I had 8:08 and 100 population out (91 trained) against a sandbox AI. As it was my first try, improvements are certainly possible. 100popchallenge.zip

  10. Hi @Moser Bear, if you did not manage to solve the issue yet please check following: 0.) if you have crashdump please upload that one as well, it will be very helpful (dont press continue on exception, do break or exit) 1.) check antivirus software if it is not blocking pyrogenesis (0ad), therefore game cannot load properly and crashes 2.) issue might be your computer switching to wrong graphic card (you may have 2 of them), try to force the better one in its settings @Stan` @feneur could you check his post limit and lift it if needed, thnx

  12. I have found a link to a scanned part of the book "Armas de la antigua Iberia" writed by Quesada Sanz, the most important expert on pre-Roman weaponry in Spain, and illustrated by Carlos Fernández del Castillo... Only one problem, it is on Spanish: https://www.academia.edu/35385190/F_Quesada_Sanz_2010_Armas_de_la_Antigua_Iberia_De_Tartesos_a_Numancia_Madrid_La_Esfera_de_los_Libros

  13. I have thought of the idea of an 0AD Alpha 25 tournament with prize money recently. Personally, I really enjoyed the series of games in the 2018 Championship, especially the final games between borg- and feldfeld. Even if it is likely that borg-, Vali and feld will win the top places in the tournament, it is still interesting to hold the tournament to let many players to push their skills and show the excitement of 0AD games. It is particularly fascinating to see the top players trying their best to push their skills to a new height. Also, most of the players just play the mainland maps. A tournament that involves a wide variety of maps can encourage them to expand their skills on different maps. The money prize would be a good incentive to raise the skill level of the games. I think finding $1000 for the prize money is doable. As long as we allow sufficient time to advertise the tournament, it should attract quite some good players to participate. Below is a proposal that I write for the tournament. You can have a look and give some feedback. If many players support the idea, we can proceed. --------------------------- 0 AD Alpha 25 Championship Tournament with ~$1000 money prize Champion $500 Runner-up $250 3rd place $150 4th place $100 5th place $80 6th place $60 7-10th place $40 To make it a decent-level tournament, you need to fulfill either one of the requirements below to enter the tournament: (1) Rating > 1400 (2) If you rating is <1400 or you have no rating, you may post one game here, in which you defeat two very hard AI. Then you can enter the tournament. ALL of the matches will be posted in the 0 AD forum. And we seek to broadcast the matches on the rounds of 8, semifinal and final on Youtube to let people know the excellence of 0 AD. So, please take the tournament seriously. This is a double-elimination tournament, in which every player is eliminated only after losing two rounds (each around is best of 5 or 7 games). All players will start in the winner bracket and do 1 v 1 matches. The winners will proceed, and the losers will go to the loser bracket. A player is eliminated after losing in the loser bracket. The winners of the two brackets will meet in the grand final for the championship. For each around, the two players should make time with each other to finish the matches by themselves (please finish them in one week, so that we can finish the whole tournament in two months). The winner needs to report the results and post the replays here. This tournament requires the players to know multiple civilizations and different maps. Below are the rules of the matches: (1) For each round of matches, the two players will play 1 v 1 matches in the format of best of 5 in the round of 32 and 16. The matches will be the best of 7 in the around 8, the semifinal and the final. (2) In each round of matches, each player cannot use the same civilization twice. (For example, if A uses the Ptolemies in one game, A cannot use the Ptolemies again in other games.) (3) The grand final will be best-of-7-game matches between the winner of the winner brackets (WW) and the winner of the loser bracket (WL). If WW wins, WW is the champion. If WL wins, they will conduct an additional round of best of 7 games, in which the winner is the champion. (A player is eliminated only after being defeated twice; so, WL needs to beat WW twice to knock out WW). (4) All the games will be played on standard 1 v 1 setting (small maps, 300 pop, low resources, no relics, random biome, unrevealed and unexplored maps, etc). For each around of matches, the maps will be: Game 1: Balanced mainland Game 2: Lake Game 3: African plain Game 4: Islands (naval map) Game 5: Unknown land Game 6: Rivers Game 7: Continents We reserve the right to modify the rules before the tournament starts. If you have any suggestions that may improve the tournament, please feel free to leave your comments. We will wait until there are 32 players to start the tournament. The anticipated starting time is Feb 2022. If there are more than 32 players, we will host preliminary matches among the low-rating players to select the strong ones to enter the around of 32. After the 32 players are determined, we will select 8 top players to be the seeds and position them in the eight major branches of the bracket, and randomize the position of the other players. We hope to arrange it in a way that the strong players will meet later in the tournament. If we don’t have 32 players before Feb 2022, the tournament may be canceled. So, please help promote and advertise this tournament. Can you help the tournament? We eagerly welcome sponsors and volunteers to help this tournament. Below is what you can help: I. Finance a. Can you donate money (e.g. $20, $50, etc) to the tournament prize money? b. Can you help us to find sponsors? c. Do you know how to efficiently collect money from donators and send prize money to the players? II. Before the tournament – Website, advertisement and promotion a. Website: We would like to make a website for the tournament, in which the results are reported and the Youtube video of the matches are shown. Can you help make the website? b. Advertisement video: Can you help us make an advertisement video clip (about 1 minute long) for the tournament? c. Youtube: If you are a Youtuber, can you post an advertisement video of the tournament in your channel? d. Warm-up matches: We want to promote the tournament with some high-level warm-up matches for the tournament (top players play each other on the various selected maps of the tournament). Can you play some exciting matches and post them here? We will select some to be posted on Youtube and the tournament website. III. During the tournament Youtubers, can you broadcast the matches and invite top players to make commentary? IV. During or after the tournament a. Can you help design and make the certificates? b. Can you help summarize the tournament and post some review videos on Youtube? c. Can you help contact some news agents (e.g. game magazines and websites, BBC news, ABC, NBC news, etc) to let the world know the tournament? We want as many people as possible to know the tournament.

  16. Having the blend files or blender files is also important. In any project from 0 A.D For example, editions are made, when the artist is not available or someone wants to copy a design. Conserve los blend files también. Algunos props me interesan. ------ @Lopess Don't you have screenshots of what the whole mod looks like in the game? That gives the mod good publicity. @Yekaterina Thank you for your work.

  18. It's already pretty good. In the lategame you can use it for a food production which doesnt require women but a smaller number of cav. It's hard to use corrals early in the game, but if it would be easier then fields could become totally useless.

  20. First, maybe you haven't found all of the maps that are already available in the game. When you start a new game, change "Map Type" to Random, then click "Browse Maps", and you will see a lot more maps than with the default "Map Type" of Skirmish. Second, the way to install new maps is to install mods. In order to install mods, from the main menu, click Settings, Mod Selection, Download Mods, Accept, (choose the mod to install), Download, Back. Click on the mod at the top, click "Enable" at the lower left, then click Save and Restart. Now you should have some new maps when you next play the game. But in order to play in the game lobby it is probably necessary to disable the mod. Unfortunately, the only mod that would contain new maps currently is "delenda-est". The maps that it adds are: "Britannic Road (2 players), Caldera (3), Miletus Peninsula (2), Treasure Island (2), Two Seas Redux (6), White Cliffs of Dover (5). Acropolis Bay heavily altered. Autymn Fields is a reskinned Gallic Fields, and Alpine Valleys reskin. New sandbox scenarios for many of the civs. Started on Corinthian Isthmus (8 players), Blue Nile (4), and Scythian Steppes (4)." (From the description of Delenda Est here.) Sometimes the community-maps or community-maps-2 mods are signed for in-game installation, but they haven't been signed recently enough to work with the current version of 0 A.D. Installing mods with the in-game interface is the only way that is recommended for new users. Mods available there have been verified to be free of malware.

  22. I agree to an extent. But also, isn't 0ad just a simulation, therefore a fantasy, of historical units? The princess isn't so much of a "fire breathing dragon" but more of a simulation of han diplomacy that is implemented into 0ad in a unique way. This "unique way" is something that has been yearned for in civ uniqueness so that not every civ is a cookie-cutter civ with just a different variety of units.

  23. If we could just have basic tournament or/and leagues going, that would be already great

  24. I'm skeptical that with the small multiplayer base you would get anywhere near 1000 in donation and even if you did I'm not sure if this would be the best purpose of use. Secondly you have to keep in mind that the game is not really cheat proof. There are ways to get an unfair advantage that are not detectable and such an high prize money would just be an incentive for people with bad intentions.

  25. Not a bad idea, but I think there's a "catch-22." A large cash tournament like this would bring a lot of new interest and expand the multiplayer community, but at the same time, since the community is so small, there is already a small group of top players that would more than likely monopolize the top 3 cash-winning slots.

  26. I've seen quite some videos on A25 already and what I noticed is that (not very suprising) no-one uses the new ability to push an order to the front of the order queue, hence I thought I'd make a forum post about it. Since https://trac.wildfiregames.com/changeset/25020 it is possible to push an order to the front of the order queue for a unit. We all know how to use (by default) <Shift> to queue an order to be executed later. However, one can also set a hotkey to let a unit execute an order NOW and then continue with the previously set orders. An example: You are gathering wood with a few ladies, but are close to getting housed. You could select the ladies, task them to construct a house and <Shift>-click them back on wood thereafter. Or you could select the ladies and task them to construct a house while they automatically go back to chopping wood. That saves a whopping 50% of your clicks! (The name of the hotkey is "Push order in front" and it is not set by default.) For the people being curious about what happens when using both hotkeys: You can keep constucting houses but each is pushed to the front of the queue (so Push order in front takes precedence). Please tag anyone you know who could benefit from this. At least I know @ValihrAnt could.

  27. Healing fountains/wells/hotspring. (yeah, like in AoM) Ruins (for the Lulz) It seems to me that we should be able to capture pirate ports and when the Siege workshop is captured, mercenary siege machines can be created.

  28. The Han in current master use the game templates for crossbow, but I added a slight crush damage to the damage, because it is powerful bolts, no arrows. This should be default in templates for bolt projectile weapons, thus shoushe also has a slight crush damage scorpion, and equivalents should have too. Overall, Han do in tests very well with infantry, mass bolt weapons and Ji(halberd) in front, and mixed in some archers.
