  5. GitHub downloads don't show size. It's extremely annoying, but it is how it is.

  6. Unfortunately, I cannot reproduce. I downloaded the ZIP from github intact. delenda_est-master.zip 3.7 gb I can open the zip and navigate the folders with no problem. I am sorry. It's possible that your connections are severing or timing out because the download is so large. IMHO, it's super easy to use Github Desktop or the comparable Linux app to download the mod. That way, after the initial download of 3+ gigs, any subsequent pulls will be very small and very quick. And if your connection times out, you can resume the git update where you left off. That's my best advice for now, as I really can't duplicate your issue. :/

  7. Still the same issue that I last posted above when downloading .zip file (only art folder is complete, no simulation folder, etc.). Looks like someone beat it to me posting this issue on GitHub.

  8. Hi all experts, can someone explain me, why the line "g_Map.LoadMapTerrain("sahyadri_buttes_5")" doesn't work anymore? For now i've to use the line "Engine.LoadMapTerrain("maps/random/sahyadri_buttes_5p.pmp")", but also this line does nothing but a flat, grey map. Before the new version of 0ad i got with the line "g_Map.LoadMapTerrain("sahyadri_buttes_5")" not only the complete heightmap, but also the terrain-textures. This is related to all *.pmp files i've made in the past. None of them is working for now. Also the renamed file "sahyadri_buttes_5p". Using the line "createArea( new MapBoundsPlacer(), new HeightmapPainter( translateHeightmap( new Vector2D(-12, scaleByMapSize(-12, -25)), undefined, convertHeightmap1Dto2D(Engine.LoadMapTerrain("maps/random/sahyadri_buttes_5p.pmp").height)), minHeightSource, maxHeightSource));" gives me the heightmap, but not more the terrain-textures. Also it was a big surprise that none of my triggers are working now. The new art of creating triggers is, for me, difficult to understand. So, i have problems to rewrite all my triggers so that they work.. Another, and for me the biggest problem, is, it's not possible for me to get the excellent of my fonts in Windows 10 and so also not in the game. This is not related to 0ad. In Januar i've destroyed my Windows-Partition and so i must create a new one with Windows 10 Pro. From that time i have no more the same, clear Fonts on my Windows. And also not in the game. Maybe someone has a similar problem and, perhaps, a solution for that.

  9. Hi everybody, Even if I never post here, I have been playing 0ad for quite a long while: I think I started playing with a17/a19. I was mainly playing with a real-life friend against AI for short periods and then quitting because we felt it was boring. A couple of time we tried to play in lobby, but, since our skills were quite low, we ended up badly losing. This was the main reason that kept us away from joining the lobby more often. During 2020 we started playing a bit more constantly and ability improved (many thanks to @causative for the a21 guide: it is a big help for people starting to play). Some real-life friends joined us and since then we started being online quite often. Getting smashed (without understanding why it is happening) could prevent many from joining the lobby. Now I know the nicknames of many good player and I feel like many in the community know mine, so we normally play more or less balanced matches, but for a long while we couldn’t guess if the matches were balanced before starting. This limits the growth of the community (a smaller number of active players in the lobby means that less people will be interested in the game and, I believe, its development). In the lobby there are often private games of people playing against AI: many players start playing with some buddy and won’t play much of 1v1s. Sometimes I got caught in troll-games where skilled players enjoy smashing noobs (sometimes I have been part of it even in the trolling team). I understand some could get fun from it, but I don’t think hazing helps the community. Making the lobby a bit more noob-friendly would help the community to grow, and the solution is easy: introduce ratings for multiplayer games. I know that ELO rating system does not adapt well to multiplayer games, but IMHO it’s more important to have some rating that is not precise than not to have it at all. Having some will help to understand how to improve its precision. I think it could even be temporary (and reset after some period), before a better implementation is found, hoping that the community will take it as a big tournament, and some will try to hack it or find some loophole how to increase it. In the forum I found that some attempts have been made. I do not have programming/statistical skills for implementing it. To me, even summing up the ratings of the players of a team and the ones of the other, calculate the ELO as 1v1 and then spread the difference between players would work.

  11. It depends what the line-of-sight radius is supposed to represent in the gameplay metaphor, which in turn depends on what units are supposed to represent. If a unit's LOS represents a person's individual sensory perception range, then it would not be desirable as it is quite possible to come under attack and not know what is attacking you. On the other hand, if this is what LOS wants to simulate then it does a pretty poor job of it. In the real world vision range is primarily limited by obstruction and secondarily by resolution. There is no absolute limit on an individual's vision-range except in rare atmospheric conditions. Alternatively, perhaps each unit represents an entire company or brigade and their LOS represents their command-level region of awareness. In that case I think revealing attackers in the fog of war is desirable. A company may not know the disposition or intentions of all the other units in their vicinity, especially if recon is not part of their battlefield role, but the whole company is likely to catch on pretty quickly when lead and iron starts flying. They may not know the exact details of where each attack is coming from, but they'll still have a general idea of where and what the enemies are (so long as we are still talking about ancient warfare). Likewise, you could say each unit represents an individual and their LOS is their actionable region of awareness. In that case revealing attackers in the fog of war is desirable for the same reasons. A spearman might easily be able to see an enemy archer walking around 200 m off, but there is nothing he would reasonably do about it. He might not even inform his chain of command if his job is not to be a sentry. Thus the archer is invisible for all practical purposes. Once that archer starts shooting at him though, you can bet there will be a response regardless of if he can actually see the enemy's position.

  12. 0 AD has TvTropes page analysing popular tropes found in the game. https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/VideoGame/ZeroAD Feel free to add or edit the page as I think some of the tropes are outdated.

  13. I think the dev team has things quite right. I think only small stat changes are in place. From what I´ve seen in AoE2, small changes can have a drastic impact on the preferred strategy in RTS games. I am more the type of boom player and I think booming is advantageous against turtling opponents. However I can understand that the meta currently might not be the best it could be. I think it would be solved with a few small stat changes. If melee cavalry and infantry swordsmen(for infantry swordsmen maybe also +10% speed) would get +1 pierce armor and towers would take +50% longer to build and upgrade, I think the meta would be fine.

  16. The stats of all units and structures in DE have very little in common with EA (the base game). A24's rebalancing had no effect on DE. Delenda Est's civs are very unique from each other and play a lot different from A24. A big change you'll notice right off the bat is the hero selection screen when you launch a game. Most civs give the player a choice of which hero to have for the entire match. These heroes have a large effect on the game with auras, bonuses, and special technologies. Some heroes even change the unit composition of the civ. For instance, as a Spartan player choosing Leonidas the player has access to hoplite units, while if the player chooses Cleomenes they gain access to phalangite units instead. DE A24 adds the Scythians as a playable civ. They can build their buildings anywhere on the map and have no territory effects or restrictions. Consequently their buildings are cheapest and weakest in the game. Their hero selection screens aren't done yet and their tech tree is in flux, but they're playable. Suebian Germans are also included in DE A24. They have Axemen and Wolf Warriors and cheap wooden structures. As with the Scythians they are still a WIP, but very playable.

  17. Yoda - Jedi Master Yoghurt - a food produced from the bacterial fermentation of milk Yogi - an anthropomorphic cartoon bear. Who liked picnic baskets. Yellow Bile - a humor believed in medieval physiology to be secreted by the liver and to cause irascibility Yellow Fever - an acute viral haemorrhagic disease transmitted by infected mosquitoes. Yellow Weather Warning - Lowest level of warning for extreme weather conditions, below amber and red. Usually means there will be flooding in parts of Wales. Yowsers - a slang amalgamation of 'yikes' and 'wowsers!' Popularised by the cartoon series, Scooby Doo. Yowsers, I just made a mess of my trousers - someone exclaiming in reaction to a recent unexpected/scary event that they may have soiled themselves as a result*
