Hi there, due to the DOS problems getting more and more during online games, I am thinking of hosting a game (as spectator account) in my Azure VM. And I am joining than via my real account from my normal PC as Player. Is this even possible? (Hosting as spectator). What I HOPE that will help, is that Azure recognizes the DOS Attack and tryes to block it. So I tryed to create a VM and download/install the game and create an Account. Everything worked fine, until Account creation: I get the Message "incorrect User or PW", but this is the Account I created seconds ago from this client! Is it some kind of connection Problem? can you tell me, what kind of Ports/ Settings etc. must be ok to make it work?1 point

@Nesciorevision 122 han_china_mod breaks the actor "civil_centre" and "civil_centre_no_towers". The "construction_dust" always appears, missing the variant "alive".1 point

Confirmed. I went to go make something awesome and incredible, but instead was thwarted by this dastardly Fatal Error. (And if you read the error, it doesn't make much sense)1 point

but keep in mind logs override themselves with every application start1 point
-
there will be only logs from 0ad net traffic itself, what is relevant for it, like messages and such, nothing outside of 0ad application and certainly not everything from 0ad, sorry if I was misleading, but if anything it would be there and not in replays.1 point

replays contain only commands for the game. any network traffic is logged in mainlog file.1 point

u can use this way 1 - make a group in discord (or other messenger) and use it as lobby. players need to be online there if they want to play. 2- lets suppose there r 8 online players in the group and they want to play. then the host first must change his ip by a vpn ( there r many free vpns like hotspot or psiphon), after that the host should host out of the lobby. other players can join him by the ip.1 point

If host joins the lobby with a second 0ad process the game disappears, a player needs to know your ip to rejoin if he leaves game1 point

I'd be up to making a mod to help with this, but I'm not sure I understand your tips.1 point

Had a lot of experience with this around late August and early September. Only time I get DDOS/latency/connection issues is after/during launching 0ad. It had happened when chatting aggressively with other players. Either DDOS person was reading/policing chat or on receiving end of aggression and didn't like it. (Edit: Aggression was a response to being ddosed multiple times previously and trying to figure out if it is a player element or a 0ad element. It's definitely a player/griefer and not the game.)1 point

New map, Magadha, is inspired by some gameplay videos I saw on Youtube. I noticed that people play 1v1 matches that tend to be on smaller maps, that kind of just spread resources out over a relatively open map with few choke points. So, this is potentially what an "India" biome map could look like in EA, minus cool stuff like mercenary camps and farmlands of course :1 point

Metal mines for the India biome. I think I will use these meshes and textures to improve the metal mines for all biomes.1 point

> imagine thinking someone capable of doing succesful ddos is not ingenious enough to download free/paid vpn to avoid ip block btw, DDOS is illegal, so he shouldnt at all show his real IP1 point

Indeed it is not. Since you seem to have information on that person, maybe @user1 @Hannibal_Barca may do something. Would be nice to know if his IP was used to create a DoS on your router. Maybe he didn't use a VPN. Any fix of the sort on the actual lobby @user1, @Dunedan ?1 point

To be pedantic it cannot be a DDoS (distributed denial of service) if there is only one computer doing the deed. It would be nice to have actual proof someone is trying to cause denial of service. Do you have any logs on your router to support your claim ? I'm not saying you are lying, but not much can be done without proof unfortunately.1 point

I believe @ffm has a fix for the network lag maybe he even recompiled the game with some more fixes. Due to the netclient not being threaded if there is too much timeout it might freeze the game and cause disconnection. @elexis has a patch for this.1 point

Hi everyone, Like some of you know that I used too be hosting most of the games every single time before I had huge break from 0ad. Today, I have joined several times Lodbrog hosting as I never had issues joining his or even hosting myself. Each time lodbrog hosting had full list of players, drop. Again, drop and drop. 3-4 times like that. Every person in the host had "losing connection". So I decided to host as I had no issues with connection (strenght of the connection: excellent) . Ofcourse once all joined i lost connection. That isn't issue with my or lodbrog broadband's. Magically fpre comes with his host no-one has any lags, no issues with the connection. Issues with connection to anything has stopped. (my broadband was still working while ddos was going on just really bad connection to people or disorc. Everything else was working perfectly) Before someone claims: "it's just issues with broadband or it was one time ". I suggest too block checking someones IP even for some "dev's" like or especially fpre.0 points

It's every single TG on regular hours on every single day of the week! Really, nobody can play a TG on regular hours anymore. It's not a sporadic issue.0 points
