  1. Hey @gameboy This will be fixed soon. @wowgetoffyourcellphone is right that it's related to deers and elephants. However, you might notice after the latest auto build that deers are working correctly now (haven't checked elephants but they should be too). I still need to commit some things before whales work correctly again. Thanks for your patience

  3. So, I just buy both AssCreed: Odyssey and Titan Quest: Anniversary Edition for my "son." Actually for both of us. Anyway, the graphics of these games are incredible, as well as the art direction. They can really provide inspiration for 0 A.D. Rural horse stable:

  4. Lol, I made 10 of those + the textures When I said "it barely differs for any other standard roman building." I meant the following: This is a villa: This is another villa: Another villa: This is... Here's another: So what I meant is that: It may be 100% accurate a real used barracks but it doesn't communicate at all visually what is for, lacking both aesthetically pleasing design (cool) and lacks visual communication of what is used for (gameplay) I'm not saying to re-invent the design completely, but discarding artist touch on the designs (even on a blocking unfinished state) and go for 100% accuracy will reduce the final quality of the asset IMHO Let's see what Stan comes up with

  5. This one looks great: and it seems to satisfy the criteria: aesthetically pleasing, historically accurate, and conforming to the layout of barracks of other factions.

  8. Some insider(no me) leaked ...images. The logo is kind of exaggerated big. @wowgetoffyourcellphone What about the icons, some , is there a single or many we can... Adapt to your purposes?. (top bar) The emblem side is interesting. Too much asymmetrical design.

  9. Well, yes. Duh. But that is not possible to depict in the middle of a skirmish. Hence the most distinctive and useful element is depicted.

  10. Well, I don't know of any authors describing the temple in question, therefore I highly doubt we'll be able to find any attested form. As for a way out, I see two options: ignore the interpretatio graeca; Ὧρος Horus is attested in Plut. De Iside 50: i.e. ἱερόν τοῦ Ὦρου hieron tou Hōrou “temple of Horus” name the “temple of Edfu” after its location, as Herodotus does for those of Ephesus and Samos (ὁ ἐν Ἐφέσῳ ἐστὶ νηὸς καὶ ὁ ἐν Σάμῳ—Hdt. 2.148.2) and Buto (τὸ ἐν Βουτοῖ ἱρόν—Hdt. 2.156.2), i.e. ἱερόν ἐν (τῇ) Ἀπόλλωνος πόλει hieron en (tēi) Apollōnos polei “temple in/at Apollonopolis”

  11. Oops, I really should look more critically at what I type; thanks for pointing it out. What shall we do with the Ptolemaic wonder? Leave it as “Temple of Edfu” until something better is found?

  12. Fair enough, let's consult Pausanias; because it's a lot of text I'm simply linking to the Perseus version: book I (Attika), Greek: http://www.perseus.tufts.edu/hopper/text?doc=Paus.+1&fromdoc=Perseus%3Atext%3A1999.01.0159 book I (Attika), English: http://www.perseus.tufts.edu/hopper/text?doc=Paus.+1&fromdoc=Perseus%3Atext%3A1999.01.0160 book III (Laconia), Greek: http://www.perseus.tufts.edu/hopper/text?doc=Paus.+3&fromdoc=Perseus%3Atext%3A1999.01.0159 book III (Laconia), English: http://www.perseus.tufts.edu/hopper/text?doc=Paus.+3&fromdoc=Perseus%3Atext%3A1999.01.0160 Apparently there are dozens of Athenian sanctuaries of Athena and Spartan sanctuaries of Artemis, too many to list here. As for the Athenian wonder, there is Paus. 1.24.4-5: ἐς δὲ τὸν ναὸν ὃν Παρθενῶνα ὀνομάζουσιν “As you enter the temple that they name the Parthenon”, so I suppose we could simply stick with Παρθενών Parthenōn. As for the Spartan wonder, there is Paus. 3.16.7: τὸ δὲ χωρίον τὸ ἐπονομαζόμενον Λιμναῖον Ὀρθίας ἱερόν ἐστιν Ἀρτέμιδος “The place named Limnaeum (Marshy) is sacred to Artemis Orthia (Upright)”, thus ἱερόν τῆς Ἀρτέμιδος Ὀρθίας hieron tēs Artemidos Orthias would work. (I'm assuming this is the most important Spartan sanctuary, because Pausanias spends five paragraphs discussing it and its statue.)

  16. It's basically the same issue with wandering animals. Whales use the same wandering code as deer and elephants.

  18. I have Ruins that players can capture on maps, and I want a little detailed ruin icon to appear on the minimap instead of white dots. I also have Dust Storms that move around the map and I want a little lightning bolt icon for them on the minimap. There seems to be no documentation on where to put those texture files or how to get them to show up in game.

  19. Also, add that class to <RestrictedClasses> in the unit template parents so that units don't stand there continuously attacking an invulnerable target.

  20. Icons like at minimap (trees, stone, iron) currently that are just dots of some colour, c++ changes Icons like that one around minimap for idle workers and diplomacy, possible.

  22. Hi @wowgetoffyourcellphone Please see https://code.wildfiregames.com/rP22197#inline-3121 That is cause animal walks differently. I am not sure with which patch is @wraitii going to fix it but he will eventually Anyway I think it would need to be edited animation speed in actors after that change.

  23. Despite of the direction you end up following with the layout, here are some suggestions with the structural parts: Use thicker wall wood beams. The wood beams on the walls are currently too thin. Making them thicker will provide a sturdier feel. Also use the "X" pattern which is very characteristic of romans: For the "boringness" of the walls, you can throw some "indent" arches. I think Pureon also used them in some roman houses. Banners and shields hanging on walls: I think it is a great eye-candy catcher to spice up walls and give the military feel. It is a decoration element used in several of the barracks in-game that works pretty well. Investigate adding different roofing levels: -Except few exceptions (Persians and Seleucids) the barracks often have roof elevation variations to spice up the shilouette, while keeping the "U" shape layout: For further structural inspiration, you could take a look at AC:Origins and AC:Odissey cities screenshots, or fire up the game if you have them. You can get very nice ideas and keep the historical accurracy. cheers!

  25. Why do we have to have smoke coming out of every house? I'm still confused on this point. A random dude on the internet says he wants every building to have smoke coming out of it? Why? The blacksmith has smoke coming out of it because it has a visible fire and for recognizability. I agree that villages, towns, and cities were likely very smokey places, but they also had animals everywhere and raw sewage in the streets and people walking to and fro and actual roads ( ) and stuff. Why add smoke particles that affect graphics performance? Let's add poop particles too. I'm being mildly facetious. But still, maybe analyze this a little bit first. I can think of a hundred different (and more interesting) things you guys can use your awesome talents on than this.
