This isn't a suggestion or argument for any specific issue. Rather, it comes from thinking about the game's original design and how the current Alphas have diverged from it. For those not aware, there were initially six civilisations in 0 A.D: The Persians, Carthaginians, Hellenes, Romans, Celts, and Iberians. The Celts were eventually split into the Gauls and Britons while the Hellenes... kind of went crazy, going from just that one simple option to five: the Athenians, Spartans, Macedonians, Ptolemies, and Seluecids. The Iberians on the other hand have remained untouched when they could just as well be divided into the Celtiberians and the Lusitanians just to give an example. Why was this decision taken for the other cases and not for the Iberians? Granted, I don't mind the current civilisation lineup, but on principle, I think that it is a valid question to answer. Do you think that the Iberians should remain as one civilisation or not?2 points

I would like to see a weather simulation in 0 A.D. It would be nice to have weather events such as rain, dark clouds, bright sun, snow and desert winds. This would produces an entirely different feeling in maps. However, weather simulations can become annoying if they influence the map or game play to much.1 point

When you ask JC what level he is and he answers "silver"...1 point

If you're playing Wondiws against Linux, you should also make sure that hey are both on the same network (in a common setup, the first 3 blocks of numbers in your IP addresses need to be identical, and the last block different from each other)1 point

Maybe heroes could have some sort of Tyrian purple halo behind them? This would keep the uniform signal to the player that it's a hero, while leaving more freedom for designing the hero's appearance.1 point

I would really love me some Etruscans in 0AD... It's true that they peaked just before 500BC, but they lasted as an important power into the 3rd century BC, the last Etruscan cities being annexed by Rome around 100 BC. They were full on Iron Age, not Bronze Age, and belong in Vanilla, in my opinion. The Chimera of Arezzo, one of the finest artefacts of the ancient world, Etruscan bronze (c. 400 BC): I've been collecting some visual refs for the Etruscans for a while, so I thought I'd also share what I have so far (mainly architecture and some frescoes):1 point

I had to install net-tools but I now have my broadcast ip adress, so that should help. I'll do a STUN test this evening. Thanks everyone. Really cool game by the way, well done!1 point

If you just want to play against someone who is using the same internet connection, don't use the lobby, but click on multiplayer -> host, the other one clicks on multiplayer -> join and types the LAN IP address, something like 192.168.bla.bla, not the internet IP. Then most likely you don't need to forward. For internet games, only the host needs to forward the port, not the client. STUN allows joining for some but not all remote players if the host failed to forward properly (so you can test if you forwarded correctly by hosting with disabled stun and seeing if anyone can join).1 point

It would be complicated, but not a bad long term goal... Currently the Iberians are an amalgamation of the entire Iberian Peninsula. The Wonder and Temple are Tartessian... The rest of the architecture seems Celt-Iberian (Numantia). The units are a mix of Lusitanian, Iberian and Celt-Iberian... To date, nobody on the forum has been able to provide a full set of architecture- and unit-references for any one of those 4 distinct cultures (and there are other candidates as well, all minor players on the international stage). Separating them would make fleshing out each civ very difficult and make any semblance of historically accurate balancing nearly impossible from what I can tell. Tartessian architecture could potentially be done (there's a few interesting archaeological sites). Units are impossible, I think. Lusitanian units lack diversity, architecture would be underwhelming, and they lack a navy. Celt-Iberians and Iberians are more doable, I think, but would also be the least distinct (Without those iconic Tartessian structures, and the addition of Celtic, Phoenician and Greek influences, they would be rendered a little generic looking, compared to the already existing civs). And then we haven't even mentioned siege, and language..1 point

This is important as well as lack of someone to come along and create 2 distinct civ profiles (Celtiberi vs. Lusitanians).1 point

I guess artist manpower as well of lack of interest added to lack of references that would have made them significantly different.1 point

Fish and other species can be hunted with spears the same as our forebears hunted, but it is funny you got the sarcasm How about in the far north we have fishing and hunting, and in areas like plains, and flat land without winter we can have the berry bush gathering.1 point

Hunting landsharks, now we talking business, @stanislas69 Wise folks around can think of an applicable idea to weather simulation, maybe "seasons" can be bound to specific maps have different means for food gathering. Berry bushes can still stay for other maps.1 point

There is a solution to this "collecting food from berry bushes during winter",and that is to add a feature where you have to gather your berries when in season, and when winter hits your next two options will be to fish or hunt.,and than you will be able to feast all winter. You can still just eat the berries you gathered before winter because you have them stored in the farmstead, and we can still enjoy these beautiful winters, and remind us of good memories Did the Vikings not produce a mass army, and also fight a battle during winter ? So wars are only fought in the summer and spring ? Wars are fought anywhere from desert to plains to winter wonderland. Ever hear of Alexander Nevsky ? If we are in a winter setting you are going to produce a mass army in a light snow fall or even a blizzard. What about the battle of the bulge ? What about operation Barbarossa ? What about Napolean ? All fought in the winter.1 point

Its just problem of displaying garrisoned units. Thats said player with more types of garisoned units cannot see their icon and cannot ungarrison just certain type of unit but still can ungarison them all. Its kind of bug since do not have scrollable left part of gui for icons nor right one. It will happen also if unit can build more buildings as actually can be displayed. So it is some limitation which should be resolved somehow.1 point

That would be great If you added the aurora I love going North of my nation just to watch the lights. I used to snowboard under the lights in the middle of the night, than after my workout grab some hot chocolate, and just watch the sky. Great times, and one amazing experience.1 point

If implemented to a full extent textures will change. And maybe the ground too. It can also be imagined that water level would be replaced with icy terrain. Adding a snow variant for unit and buildings should be doable too. I'd like to add Aurora borealis to the game but it should be done with shaders.1 point
