  1. Hi everyone, In days I have talked with @Itms about a a real in-game encyclopedia for 0 A.D. In particular I worked to recreate an heroes information sheet regarding Pericles ( which in alpha 21 has only information about the gameplay) In this draft I have tryed to put together both historical and gameplay information Periklēs (c. 495 – 429 BC) Pericles was one of the most influential Greek statesman and predominant leader of Athenian golden age. Appeared in the political scene as the most active member during the trail against the general Cimon (463 B.C.), Pericles political activity lasted for about forty years during which he held the strategia for at least fifteen consecutive years. While under Pericles political predominance the Delian League (constituent base of Athenian Empire) reaches its zenith, however, the statesman is especially remembered for his building program which aim to transform Athens into the cultural capital of the Hellenic world. Pericles program of public works was in a first phase focused on defensive building with the construction of the Long Wall between Athens and the two demos of Piraeus and Phalerum Hero Aura: When garrisoned in a structure, it galvanizes its defenders, + 2 garrison raged unit To carry out urban planning works in Athens, Pericles summon artisans and artists from the cities of the Delian League. Monuments as the Propilei, the Odeîon and Telesterion are testimonies of the Pericles commitment in the public sector in order to affirm the Athenian supremacy. Builder Aura: Building construct 15% faster within his vision Anyhow, the major contribution gives to Athens was the commitments of temples as that of Athena Nike and the continuation of works on the Parthenon (completed c. 432 B.C) monuments symbol of the Acropolis restructuring program promoted by Pericles Acropolis Aura: Temples are 50 stones chipper during his lifetime Pericles political parable is that of a democratic leader able to control the dêmos but who over time he had to face a block of opposition that convinced the public opinion to condemn Pericles circle of collaborators (Phidias the sculptor appointed by Pericles to decorate the Parthenon will die in jail before his sentence). Though the opposition struck hard Pericles, only in 430 B.C. there was a real conflict with the dêmos who exhausted from the sacrifices of the war remove the statesman from the office of strategós. Even though he was re-elected already the following year, however, the plague which spread in Athens during 429 B.C. hit the statesman who would die in October of the same year. With the death of Pericles ending the so called the Golden Age of Athens which in the following years will face a gruelling clash against Sparta that will lead to the disintegration of the Athenian Empire. All advices, suggestions and corrections are welcome!

  2. Thank you, soloooyo. I have a list of reported rated 1v1 cheaters to hand to Hannibal eventually. He reported Slawek quitting host after being overpowered.

  3. Those actually look like/took inspiration from something a Samurai would wear... Well, unlike later periods, the "mandarin robe" had not been formalized during Han Dynasty, so the relevant researches are fewer. Best I could find so far: Below: Western Han, Military official Below: Western Han, civil official (yes, those are two-handed sword/jian. Even civil official carries it) Below: Western Han Aristocrat (Outdoors outfit during the beginning of summer) Below: Western Han Emperor (2nd level formal outfit during the beginning of summer) Emperor and aristocrat (and possibly other officials) apparently wear different color for different time of the year. Blue for spring, Red for beginning of summer, Yellow for end of summer, White for fall, and Black for Winter.

  4. @Sundiata I like the dugout canoes. There speed is depending on the length 5-7 km/h (length times two). Furthermore, they don't drift away easily by either wind or current. Both are present on the part of the Nile, according to this documentary:

  5. These robes are inaccurate. Drama costume probably.

  6. Uploaded the .blend file. It was saved with Blender 2.78c. This file contains initial camera+lamps setup from the original file by Micket and all new animations (made so far) as actions in Action Editor. Also there is a test action I could not get rid of. It serves no purpose. Notable changes to animations: Fixed a clipping issue with idle_01 I totally forgot to fix before rendering. Fixed interpolation issues with idle_02. cobra_animations_WIP_170714.7z If anyone wants to try animations in the game or make additional animations, please consider reading notes below. I am not certain I can spare enough time to complete idle_03 during this weekend. I will try to get it done by the end of the next week then.

  7. Here's what I'd do. I would focus capture on the Civic Center. Once that is captured nearby buildings then become capturable. Until the CC is captured you have to destroy the enemy buildings as per tradition.

  10. Altogether I found your article well informed yet still concise, which is a helpful thing for history articles for games. Two particular points I would make are that first, there are some grammatical errors that could be easily fixed with a quick reread of the article; second, the final sentence does not exactly characterise what happened with Pericles' death. If I were to offer an alternative, here is my take on it: With the death of Pericles, came the death Athenian Hegemony over Greece. Instead of pursuing his shrewd strategy of controlling the seas while depending her walls, Athens, at the urgings of demagogues, set out on a disastrous campaign into Sicily that led to her eventual defeat by Sparta. As a last simple pointer, if tense could be kept consistent, it would make the article flow better.

  11. The question is : Why should it be necessary to have a delete feature in the game in the first place? Are there necessities to delete entities or structures manually because they are required? From what I've seen it's just unnecessary - UNLESS you're capturing enemy structures. There it's super useful to just delete it after capturing.

  12. the place Tian'anmen . At this point i wish so much 0ad to have more buildings and structures Still lot of finitions to do

  13. Dude you_can't_use_the_structures. Because there is no converted territory next to 1) Towers, 2) military buildings and 3) most importantly next to Civic centers. Which makes the system obsolete. Just delete while they loose capturing points before they turn neutral. The reason why houses should have more population and cost more instead of being cheap and spammable buildings in the first place.

  15. Oh, I see, I kind of agree to not having large vessels, as I don't think they ever navigated the open sea. In that case: - fishing boat: dugout canoe (no sail) - Merchant ship: modeled on the traditional falucca, with a long triangular sail, but with a steering mechanism modelled after the ancient examples on the petroglyphs. - light warship: Modeled on the typical Nile valley boat. Essentially an adapted version of the Ptolemaic merchant ship. For the dugout canoe, only the clothes of the fisherman, and perhaps his fishing net/equipment can be used as player color, as the boat is just a hollowed out, undecorated log. The merchant ship should just have a white sail. Small strips of cloth tied to the ropes, as well as some minimal geometric paint designs along the length of the boat could be used for player color, as well as the clothes of the trader seated in the vessel. Decorated rudders also seem to be popular (see below). The light warship could be fully decorated, following classical Egyptian designs. It should have a rectangular sail, that could potentially have the player color, or religious designs and motifs like an image of the ram-headed Amun, the Eye of Horus, or Apedemak, in the player color. There is enough room with this ship for choices regarding player color and designs. Here's another good (Egyptian) example of what a light Kushite warship (or trade ship, in fact), could have looked like: And some basic idea's for designs:

  16. Could this model be reexported with a projectile and garrison prop points? Can be good fora Kushite light warship. We need to come up with some common designs or patterns for flags and sails and such as well. @Sundiata any insight for that?

  17. See GameDataPaths for where to find the logs with the full error messages, which does include the first error (which in some cases is the reason for the others). Still not sure if you fixed all errors, since that last post of yours does not tell.

  18. The advantage in capturing structures like barracks, fortresses, civic centers and towers is quite obvious. You can expand your territory influence or simply train units directly from enemy barracks. You could even use the "converted" territory influence to build a civic center or a military colony which builds even faster than a cc and start to invade enemy territory . By the way when you capture enemy barracks, you know where enemy units can be trained from, thus 1 unit garrisoned per barrack will keep them captured with no risk. I must agree that capturing without suiciding houses makes no sense unless you bring women into fight and garrison them into houses (still the pop gained from a single isn't worth the effort). Indeed capturing is much faster than destroying them with sieges or elephants, matter of fact most of the times units just clear out stuff like storehouses and houses and clear the path for sieges. Still one can't pretend rams to one shot buildings (perhaps they could have slightly more damage) and most of times the buildings loot is not reclaimed, especially the really low wood loot that houses and such provide or the exp bonus that basically makes no sense since rams can't get promotion. On the other hand, having units able to capture buildings makes the life of a catapult much easier, otherwise a catapult has to destroy any single house in order to reach the "main" building which is actually bad due catapult accuracy.

  22. Security through obscurity isn't very efficient for an open-source project in any case. I found the methods I linked by searching a not-very-familiar-to-me part of the codebase for 10-15 minutes. If someone would be able to find a flaw after such a small time / effort investment, then it may have sense to improve the validation, and raising awareness about potential issues helps.

  23. The new technology changes have make capturing more interesting. Thank to the team and contributor who got bug in the ear and inspired and wanted to make something happen quickly and efficiently. The next alpha reallly need to have some gameplay improvement and the tech change is a step in the right directions. In case some do not know, now you can research some of the techs from captured building. This is a cool development but will take some gameplay thinking and design to determine what should be allowed to be research and what not allowed. Right now, the tech trees of the civs are almost identical, but for mod like Delenda Est (and even the vanilla game if they code the civs to be more unique) it open a lot of possibility since the civs tech trees are so unique. It's a small, but exciting change that also makes Mercenary Camps nearly 100% feature complete (still a few minor bugs or changes need to).
