Freagarach
Dear artists, for a diff of mine (https://code.wildfiregames.com/D4241) I need an icon to indicate that an item in the production queue is paused. I now use the "Halt" icon as a placeholder: This does show the point, I guess, but I know it can be improved. So please, share your ideas and images, that I may use them. ^^
Lion.Kanzen
Use the halt icon only. it looks weird like that.

maroder
I would say just grey it out (inclusive the green progress bar) If you want to use an icon on top maybe this one could work: https://github.com/0ad/0ad/blob/master/binaries/data/mods/public/art/textures/ui/session/portraits/technologies/clenched_fist.png Or take something like this:

It's not an icon, but it might convey the message just as well.
wowgetoffyourcellphone
I think the hand actually looks good.

Expand mhh yes, I agree. How about yellow? Is a bright color so easy to recognize and its intermediate between "green" <- can produce and "red" <- can't produce. And you can still see the item that is paused. Edited October 6, 2021 by maroder
Freagarach
Fine by me. Is it easy enough to recognise for the colour-blind?
maroder
Iirc the problems for them are mostly red and green. So yellow should be fine Edit: No they aren't. Here is a tool to simulate colorblindness: http://hclwizard.org:3000/cvdemulator/ But they actually already have an hard time between the red "you can't afford that" buttons and the green "this is produced" buttons Mhh not sure how to fix this. SDM
As someone who is mildly red-green color blind (the most common category of color blindness), I would prefer having symbols instead of colored highlights in every case, but I also acknowledge that accomodating for me may not be a priority in all cases. 2
wackyserious
@Freagarach Is this task still open? What are the resolutions needed for the icon?
Freagarach
The patch is still open (https://code.wildfiregames.com/D4308) but @Langbart had used a different icon, currently 40 by 33 pixels. I guess you can take a look and see whether you want to improve the icon and else just leave it.
alre
what about just leaving it half green without any symbol at all?
Freagarach
It gives the impression that it is still being worked upon. Especially when selecting multiple structures with queued items. Instead one wants to see in a blink whether an item is currently produced or not. wowgetoffyourcellphone
The current hand, at any rate, is confusing. There's no indication as to why the hand is there. "This item is paused," means what to the average player? That it is in the queue and no progress is made on it in the meantime already indicates its "paused" state, right?
