What advantage do you think this modified attack move provides? Just out of curiosity. It seems to me that whenever a modification is made to "reduce required apm" it always just gets used as a cheat.

As I am the reference to consult in therm of cheating according to few loud people so, i can tell you this is absolutely cheat, any modified or enhancements of a feature should be banned and we should stay away of it for the sake of unplayability. This is the only way we can be sure the game doesn't get too fun or too easy to new players. Rewarding old players who learned the workarounds of playing without good features in the n°1 priority.

Can you package this cheat @Seleucids for use as standalone mod? I'm sure some cheaters would be interested in cheating with such cheat.

The idea is to focus on relevant units more. In a even fight this helps to get the upper hand.

 

I also just found that she had weird 9 unqued walk-custom commands in one turn.

I checked my complete data base and no one else had 3 or more walk-custom commands in one turn. Some have 2 like here .01. I don't see any benefit as it's the same units and only the last command should take effect. As I see it she just tested something weird and dropped it as it's only from 01.12.24 to 03.12.24.

I don't care too much to look further. My main take away is just not to get upset when losing to her.

I'm not going to distribute questionable features, as it won't be welcomed. Atrik, you are the one who first proposed changes to unit_actions.js, I think the auto snipe topic has explained quite clearly how to edit the file, so no need for such a "cheat mod"

@ffm2 I don't know what is walk custom, but I remember that game very well. I and aslaug did an early p3 push on ijavadev and there was huge lag (for me). The likely cause is dancing. At the end of the game I came under archer fire so I danced my pikeman to buy slingers time to chase up to archers.

I think this topic has attracted enough unnecessary attention and should be locked. The nature of the topic has already violated the TOS by inciting public harassment towards an user and spreading false accusations with the intent of defame. Not all of Norse Harold's claims about me have been verified, especially regarding the YouTube part where it is off-WFG and someone has already admitted to owning the 0ad expert channel.

The nature of this topic suits his own description perfectly. Everything (or mostly) was calm until you started this drama. 

I don't want drama, but I also don't want to be insulted or have trolls / spammers ruining my games. 

I just wanted to play and enjoy a few games with my new and old friends. I'm not planning to nor willing to do any kind of attacks or be toxic ( and I haven't). The entire lobby has been watching me closely in the past month of my active time. I've had 0 arguments, not even directly with Geri. If anything, I have diffused a few quarrels before they got serious. Yet Norse and Geri still won't leave me alone. So who is the problem here?

Furthmore, Norse Harold, you created this thread not for improving 0ad, but to target me personally. You have named AInur, so we can all look at that user's posts: it's mostly programming and technical discussion, with a few suggestions on changing gameplay. There is no sign of malice. You have a record of driving helpful users away: I still remember NitroVicky and  Inzhu.

No matter whether Vicky is actually me or not, they were helping 0ad with developing a superior AI. If you didn't ban her from the forum, all of the single-players could be enjoying a more advanced AI right now. Same for Inzhu. They claimed they can implement parallel processing to 0ad. If you had encouraged him on that instead of stalking him around in the lobby delisting games, we could have said farewell to CPU lag since long time. All 3 of the users are positively contributing to the 0ad community, and all you can do is ban them based on your subjective suspicions. Now I ask: How have you improved the AI? How far did you nudge the engine towards multiprocessing? How many bugs have you found workarounds for? who is the real threat to the community that's constantly pushing players and contributors away? You created this thread to drive me away once again and prevent me from contributing. For what? What are you trying to defend, and against what? 

 

You can survey the lobby userbase's  opinion towards Ricci-Curvature and you will see. Meanwhile, Shyft has also returned. He is a reasonable person now and I could get along with him, despite the occasional inappropriate language from him. You have made no effort to hunt him down, you only target me.

I do not oppose the other lobby users challenging me, nor am I manipulating anyone into anything. I just play a few TGs and test out the historical patch with Leif. Simple life.

When you were moderator, you had the absolute power to delete people's posts so that nobody could speak against you. You blamed many things on me and I was denied the right to speech. Now you have lost that power and it's time for you to be held accountable for your transgressions.

However, as I said, the past is past and I don't want more mess. Let's put the history aside and seek for coexistence in the community. That's my proposal. If you decide to still take on unreasonable measures such as harassing manhunts, IP monitors, enslaving restitution, unjustified sanctions and bye-laws, etc against me, then I will simply leave.

Obviously i wouldn't think having increased control over unit behavior with a simple hotkey is a "questionable feature". You basically enhanced a pr-existing feature, potentially fixing a big shortcoming of having to use alt-clicks 200times for your units not to make an undesirable action.

I do not believe this was Norse' intention. Rather, I think he was just trying to be cautious because he can't really know whether you will start creating a lot of duplicate accounts again or not. If, as you stated, you do not intend to make any more accounts, Norse' post will be useless (as it is a "guide" to identify you), but also harmless.

I think your hatred towards Norse is clouding your judgement. I don't feel incited to harass you by anything he said. Regarding the false accusations, can you say with certainty that one of the three points in Norse' first post is wrong? Which one?

Norse wasnt even the one to bring up any youtube-video.

 

You both know that you left off on a pretty bad note, making each others lifes worse. As I am too young a member of this community, I am not going to make any judgement about the things that happened in the past, as I just dont have the necessary information. But you should be able to understand that Norse will be very cautious if you "rejoin" the community, as you have undoubtedly created a lot of work for him in the past (whether it were exclusively justified actions or not).

Lastly, keep in mind that Norse couldn't have known if you intended to "keep on going from where you left off" and make his life hard, or if you intended to leave the past behind and be involved in 0ad in a productive manner, before he started this thread. He most likely just wanted to inform players about a well known former member of the community that rejoined under a different name, which is not bad in and of itself.

This is wonderful. I applaud Seleucids for coming clean. And I applaud NorseHarold for their implacable dedication to exposing the Yekaterinas in our midst. With this triumph, your years-long quest has been utterly vindicated, and a final solution to the crisis has been revealed. Now is a time for all of us, Yekas and non-Yekas alike to come together in solidarity and thanksgiving.

For a lasting community reconciliation, I propose making a bot account whose function will be to periodically scan any ongoing conversation and proclaim who is a Yekaterina using our demonstrably infallible Yeka-detection algorithm. It's not fair or healthy for Norse to be solely responsible for providing this vital public service, plus Norse is only human and therefore must take periodic breaks from Yekaterina detecting duty in order to eat and sleep. A bot could provide for our Yekaterina seeking needs 24-7, thereby ensuring that no one is ever again left in the dark that they are talking to a Yekaterina.

You could call it IAmYeka.

@Seleucids you gave enough reasons for @Norse_Harold to be proactive against you, don't deny it. @ChronA may be you can be a bit more respectful.

I know Yekaterina was angry at the bureaucracy in 0 A.D., but he should have shown more respect toward the developers. 0 A.D. is not just a hobby project; it is a flagship project for free software games.

We often blame everything on the developers, much like Software Test Engineers blame developers in tech companies. If you don't understand how it feels to have your work insulted, you've likely never written code for anything serious.

Exposing vulnerabilities and taking advantage of 0 A.D.'s limited manpower to fix issues is irresponsible. Treating it like child's play damages trust. If I had to resolve such issues under a tight deadline, I wouldn’t trust someone who exploited the project's limitations, ever.

I hope you both get along well.
But that's just my opinion. I know you both personally, and you know the real person behind this account. You are both very smart people. I believe the generation gap might be the issue here, which gives @Norse_Harold more responsibility in resolving this conflict.
I've been in fight with teenagers and crazy people like shyft and geriatrix,

Firstly, Geriatrix is French and I am Brit. You can verify this by IP, language etc

Secondly, the UK has ~65 million population. That is more than enough for a few 0ad players emerge. I and Shyft are not from the same city, and again you can verify that by IP. There are replays where we did an op teamwork to beat Geri on the flank (so all 3 appeared in one game) and another one where I played against him and knight. I find it insulting to be equated to that guy, even though his behaviour has improved.

You wouldn't be happy if I claimed that you are a smurf of Jagsus and 0AD_BOSS and Groot just because you are all from India.

this confuses me. Are those people you after all? It seems like it from this. In any case, those people didn't help. But still, nobody is stopping you from contributing. You could make a pr right now, you could help me with the one i showed you in the autosnipe thread.

The main thing I see being prevented is this remarkable, intricate web of different accounts XD.

No they are not. Norse Harold has no evidence, only intuition and assumptions, but he claims he knows everything. He cannot produce a single log extract or screenshot to prove any transgressions from these people or their link to me.

 

It's time to stop fuelling this troll thread. The author has not replied to the topic. He was not active in the lobby while I am there, so I don't know what inspired him to come up with this topic.

The accusations @Seleucids makes about @Norse_Harold's behavior in the past had been investigated back then by WFG staff, without finding evidence of misconduct by @Norse_Harold. On the other hand it's been proven that @Seleucids/@Yekaterina did commit serious violations of the terms of use back then, which did degrade the experience for other players.

@Seleucids: Please stop repeating these accusations over and over. If you believe there has been misconduct by @Norse_Harold ever since, report that privately and with proper evidence.

With that said, I'm locking this thread now, as any further discussion is unlikely to have a positive effect on the community.
