  1. I think just a "collapsed" version would be nice. The pieces can all be props so that they conform to terrain. Can make it a collectable ruin template (metal) too.
  2. The image is okay, but the texture has to be 512x512. So, the bottom (512 - 384) pixels of the image will be transparent.
  3. My slow descent into madness playing against @borg- or @ValihrAnt
  4. The actual tooltip images are a 512x384 image on a 512x512 texture. Reason it's a 512x512 texture and not 512x384 texture is for maximum graphics card compatibility (some newer cards are ok with odd-sized textures, but most older cards only want ^2 resolution textures). We went with 512x384 px images instead of perfectly square for aesthetic reasons. The rectangle shape just looks nicer to the human eye in this context, similar to the ratio of an old CRT TV or computer monitor.
  5. You were absolutely correct here. I inverted the Green channel in the normal map and now it looks 100% better. I'd say my favorite detail by far is the added realism of the "banding" of the metal texture in the normal map. That's a great nod to realism that sets this one apart from many of the others you'd see. Great job! And I'll probably pick a different texture for the base pedestal, but you did a good job there too. I believe the descriptions do say the base for the statue was octagonal. Know what would make a really awesome detail is if we had the ability to slowly transition between textures, so that we could slowly convert the shiny bronze look to a greenish duller look as if patina is slowly being applied by the environment. Maybe make it take about 10 minutes of game time. That would be cool. But as it is, I'd love to actually implement a "Capture the Wonder" mode for the game. Would it be the most popular mode? No, but it would add some nice variety and would add more options for campaign maps or scenarios.
  6. Hard to tell from the posted images, but I tested it in-game and it looks pretty good. I might re-Map the pedestal, but the statue is pretty awesome
  7. Would love to add this to DE. Or just add it to base game so it can be used elsewhere.
  8. Beautiful reconstructions. Very evocative.
  9. No one is, as far as I know, currently. But they've also been a desired civ for the A.D. segment of the game. Would be cool to see some concept work for them though.
  10. The massive swing between easy af to capture and then suddenly to impossible to capture is not balanced. Might be useful in general, whether we agree about the other balancing issues or not.
  11. I'd actually like to see fewer chaotic 3v3 and 4v4 games and more intimate 2v2 games where teamwork becomes yugely consequential. But 2v2 seems like the least popular setup in most RTS games.
  12. With some tweaks it can be alright. I don't mind quirky techs. HARD AGREE. Defensive buildings are way too easy to capture, for example. And people really don't want to have to garrison and ungarrison units all the time to keep these buildings whole and useful. I know it brings a level of skill to the game, but couldn't that APM be used elsewhere?
  13. Nice, I was going to post this. Basically the only Lex Fridman interview so far I've been able to stomach. Not a fan of Fridman, but he does well here to let the expert speak. 3.5 hours of captivating stuff. Watched the whole thing yesterday.
  14. Doesn't seem that difficult. just cut down the number of buildings inside the parapet, etc. Just giving the general impression. Hell, an actual "Roman Army Camp" to scale would cover the entire screen if we didn't just pare it down to its essentials.
  15. In this case, I see no problem with the sounds occurring at the same time.
  16. errrr Complete disagree. Why would they play simultaneously? Almost every game I've played has a rally point sound.
  17. No, I don't hear one. Maybe we're mixing terms. I meant rally point. there is no flag planting sound.
  18. IMHO, user input feedback is crucial. So whenever a player clicks something, be it a UI element or initiating a command in-game, it should usually have some kind of sound. Yes, but that was more of the specific sound, rather than the notion of a sound at all.
  19. As an aside, the game really is missing quite a few little UI feedback sounds. For instance, a sound for planting a waypoint.
  20. Hmm, so the sword's design is legit. That part checks out. Doesn't mean it's not a reproduction. Hard to believe the bronze would not have corroded, and the design of the arrowheads is still suspect to me.
  21. I'm thinking more like the "FWWWOP" sound from AOE3's "Enemy Sighted!" notification.
  22. Can anyone tell me if this find is legit? https://www.smithsonianmag.com/smart-news/bronze-age-sword-germany-180982399/ The sword looks suspiciously well-preserved for a 3000 year old piece of bronze. The aesthetics of the sword's design also look too fantasy-ish to me. But maybe I'm being to incredulous. And the arrowheads look suspiciously modern for being made in 1000 BC Germany.
