My favorite "spy" unit I've seen in an RTS was way back 30 years ago in Command & conquer: Red Alert. To you, it looked like a guy in a tuxedo (think: James Bond), but to the enemy it looked like just one of their own soldiers. So, then you could move your Spy into the enemy base relatively undetected. The only detection methods were the fact that you couldn't command an enemy spy to do anything, even though it looked like one of your men. This would clue you into the fact that it was indeed a spy. Also, one faction had Guard Dogs that the Spy had to avoid, else they'd detect him and maul him. The Spy could infiltrate enemy structures and you could then see what that structure was doing. The Spy could also "Sabotage" the structure by damaging it by a certain percentage.

That one is the compressed version of the mod. If you want the uncompressed version of the mod, with easily editable files plus some work in progress files, downloading the Github version is better. Github version does not work with Alpha 26 though, only latest dev version. -
A tech pair would be cool. One tech affecting the player's civ and the other tech only affecting their allies.

Civ: Republican Romans

I might do it with heroes. -
I'd say make the "champ building" a standard thing. Call it the 'Academy' class building. Persia's is the Tachara, Sparta's is the Syssiton, Athens' is the Gymnasion, etc. Macedon's is the Royal Barracks. Or move Champs back to the Fortress for most civs

Anything I type here will be my own words and you can use them. In this instance, I just reworded the original passage . -

The Greco-Macedonian pharaohs of the Ptolemaic dynasty granted plots of land to all veteran Greek soldiers who would settle within the borders of the empire. These veterans and their decendants would then be called upon by the pharaoh to serve in the imperial army during times of war or rebellion. The pockets of Greek culture created by these settlements would influence and give shape to the traditional native Egyptian culture, creating a unique syncretism we today call the Hellenistic culture. -

The Temple of Apollo at Daphne, I believe. Maybe that can narrow it down? It's a suburb of Antioch. -

Similar to what the Ptolemies tried to do, the Selecids also invited Greek colonists to settle in their lands in the East. The colonists would then be beholden to the Seleucid for military service in exchange for gifts of land. -
I'd bake some subtle shadows into the texture at least, give the illusion of a little more detail. Also remember that the stele we see today are very weathered. In their prime, their details woukd be easier to see. I wonder if there is evidence of paint.

On the battlefield, the Seleucid cavalry arm was often the most successful in the army, often driving off the enemy cavalry in order to turn and make devastating flanking and rear charges into the enemy center. -

Suggestion for chariots
wowgetoffyourcellphone replied to Barcodes's topic in Game Development & Technical Discussion
Yeah, Scythed Chariots could be a melee suicide unit, basically. Brit and Maur chariots are basically missile platforms. We can figure something else out for those, like that old Briton video I posted a while back. -

Suggestion for chariots
wowgetoffyourcellphone replied to Barcodes's topic in Game Development & Technical Discussion
@ChronA I agree it's difficult to create a role for chariots with the current game mechanics. So without having to add a bunch of features, I'd say turn them into some kind of melee glass cannon. Kind of like Petards in AOE2, but only against units, not buildings.
