  1. Probably for the best to just have it all be be graphical differences and make sure the base unit structure is balanced before we change their statlines, aye.
  2. Worked for Qarthage. Though they did keep an army in reserve of purely citizen soldiers, and they put their own officers in charge of mercenaries. Also, Champions are ridiculously good for their price, (from a combat point of view)
  3. Does it matter, if, in this case, you find multiple 0ad/mods folders, which one you put it in?
  4. Well, i run linux, and i've connected to several Windows hosts, (and visa-versa) Maybe it's a thing with mac? Or also, does the person(s) hosting have their ports forwarded? (check the lobby announcement thing on the far right for the correct one)
  5. What, everyone rushing to give the exact same answer? Puh-lease, do you even youtube comments?
  6. It's called gaia in every other age-of game though. Though, i'm sure it's called gaia in age3 too. Don't quote me on that.
  7. Someone Got it! XD went right over everyone elses heads.
  8. By all means, keep the ideas coming. The talent might read it, think it's a good idea, and implement it.3 Also, you can't annoy someone for posting new ideas every day ON A 152 PAGE LENGTH THREAD. XD by all means, make it a 200 page length thread.
  9. Playing the same map without having to FEEL like you're playing the same map..the five-hundred-and-somethingth time.. I like. And valve seems to have the exact same thought. (Dota 2 reborn is doing that too)
  10. If you think elephants are bad, try rams. cant kill the buggers unless you have alot of sword infantry, at least The big grey beasts dont have 99% pierce reduction. :3
  11. also Note;, ai players count as players, thus are not gaia. In case we weren't clear.
  12. Just thought i'd Copypasta my comment from another thread, as it's more relevant here, From this thread. Firstly: You shouldn't have to research a button just to make formations, This is silly, as many of the civilisations in the game are very formation-centric, (EG: why train phalangites, if you can't make a phalanx?!) BUT, you should be able to research different "Doctrines" - so to speak, to make your formations function different. This leads into my next point. Formations should be much more like the ones in Rise and fall Civs at War (or RaFCaW) In that you click a button, and all the selected units Form up... Into a formation. Instead of Just Grouping a bunch of units and sending them somewhere. Formations should be more like entities, EG: Instead of clicking on all the units in a formation, you can only click on said formation. Boxing 2 formations and giving them a move order will make you select 2 formations, instead of all the units, and moving them won't make them turn into 1 formation. Less frustrations For macedonians, i think. Maybe we could also make it so you can suspend formations, instead of just disbanding them, And maybe even personalize formations a bit.
  13. Oh yay, someone apart from me feels that formations shouldn't be so simple as they are. But they should have a seperate discussion. I will however voice my opinion on them here. Formations EDIT: I'll just cut this out before anyone can read it here. Read it Here instead. Trade On trade efficiency, i think it's fine being better than Resource gathering, Considering traders are difficult to protect, where miners (do you trade anything else?) can be. Maybe just have it so you get less and less the further away a caravan goes, and increase the moneys you get for short term trading? On small maps, trading is significantly nerfed. ...yeah, i don't have much opinions in this field.
  14. Or we could just entirely make forrests impassable and give that buff to them iberians we've always been talking about. Would make for fun gameplay. probably easy to achieve, too. their occlusion (is that the word?) could "glue" itself to close by trees, so you don't have to make them all bigger, thus making individual trees... er.. bigger than they look. I didn't say it was easy to code.
  15. .....Triremes DID Serve as troop transport See the battle of carthage.
  16. Like on desert maps. That might be a LITTLE BIT too complex. What happens when all the food is destroyed? Do you just.. die?
  17. At least it's in a state of Almost-Functional. (better than nonexistant) Woot!
  18. *looks for sunglasses* *puts on sunglasses* *takes them off slowly* Mother of....
  19. The advantages you speak of are practically already avaliable. ...just create an account you won't keep while you learn, then when you are ready to "go public" so to say Find a name and stick with it. -1 step isn't worth doing.
  20. Steam won't help development speed. More contributors will.
  21. If you are going to complain about development speed, Help out. That will speed it up.
  22. I was thinking more along the line of a Player vassalization. If you capture their leader, they are forced to 'ally' with you, and give you tribute.
