  1. I was hoping for the flat range, but the towers do seem to help with recognition. I suppose so.
  2. @stanislas69 You're good with this one, I think i was in the middle of integrating this when I got distracted lol. If you feel ambitious, a few shields or something on that back wall would be welcome
  3. Shields on top make it look a little too defensive, als the stone walls in the building itself are still paper thin so how's your subterranean geometry? I don't see any in the sketchfab model
  4. Here's the thing with towered Carthaginian elephants, i think we had a discussion of how the north african bush elephant was too small to bear a tower, except hannibal's own, which was an Asian elephant itself.
  5. lol these crazy illustrations are only related in setting to these mods, I just thought I'd share to get the ah... 'inspiration' moving
  6. I would agree with toning down contrast for the most part, Semitransparency will apply player color at differing intensities, so you can get consistency between player colors. The real punchy contrasting elements should be used to highlight distinguishing features between different troop types, if at all
  7. Oh hey, would you look at that? Only little gripe I have with these new skins is the discernability between ranks and unit types. Wackyserious certainly knows what he's doing in terms of design/materials. I would echo his request for useful references, perhaps have a discussion regarding the unification of say, the swordsman line and easily distinguish it by rank, and from similar spearman textures at a distance.
  8. lol cowy shield. Love cowy shields. I can't use this as a menu background because it doesn't tile. Right resolution though lol. I'm worldbuilding for a game I'm pretending I can make.
  9. k a little heavy on the whole... exaggerated everything
  10. Think the royal cobra would work better? The colors would be more solid and bright, and we could make the rest of it shiny gold
  11. I'm glad I didn't skimp out too much on polygons, those low angle shots look nice. lol I haven't even played as the Kushites yet in any capacity
  12. You'll have to ask one of the programmers about that, I just know from my Ponies ascendant armor experiments. Takes a long time to put knights down with archers lol
  13. noooooo thats how it's done in AoE but not here
  14. looks a lot better in theory than in practice I haven't seen hairdos like this since I left art school
  15. i think 'pebbles' underestimates the size of sling stones, or the weight of leaden bullets. If I'm not mistaken Xenophon recorded how Persian slingers would regularly hurl stones the size of a man's fist, and slingers were a staple of Celtic siege warfare on both sides. If the argument was to nerf their ability against buildings and siege sure, that can be done easily enough with multipliers. also in that scenario, 300 Persian slingers would be throwing as much rock as a 6 talent caliber Roman ballista, so keep that in mind lol also keep in mind that 6 talent roman ballistae dont exist and that we don't have Persian slingers so more like 15kg of stone or lead at the small end of things. Still 32lbs. Thats about cannonball mass still
  16. ah, I wanted to talk about that. For some reason I cant commit to the art repo anymore(yes i tried). Is that process different since the switch to phabricator?
  17. As far as I know neither Age of Mythology nor Age of Empires 3 had solved this issue either; you may be waiting for some time for a solution for this, gameboy. Enjoy the silly awkward nature of it in the memetime.
  18. My favorite description of a giraffe has to be "cow dinosaur"
  19. How can a game that looks so much better than Age of Empires be a ripoff also not really a problem, if we believe what everyone says about us we're ripping off every historical RTS ever
