  1. I disagree nearly completely, fiasco. I think that it should be an option for people to choose from.
  2. Imagine trying to aim with a leaf on the arrow tip. It isn't that easy. The same goes for fire except that you would risk burning your bow too.
  3. I agree with Mythos' view on the matter. Typically, when you try to span ridiculous time lengths, you will merely find people complaining because A, there will be complaints from people who dislike the fact that they have never heard of the Hurrians nuking the Canadians while the latter civilization is stuck in the Iron Age, or B, this game was not able to frame the epic timespan of history, and has too few cultures. Age of Empires tried something like this, and it wasn't quite successful in my opinion. There were too few ages to cover about ten thousand years. Even then, it seems likely that all that will happen is the project will be aborted with as much work as would have to be done.
  4. Perhaps the key could be "a"+right click like in Company of Heroes.
  5. Well, I would say that if it takes eons to build a house, try having a larger builder team. As for hunting, just use ranged units and its pretty simple.
  6. Sciritae, who were just as epic as the Spartans due to the fact that they took the left flank of any battle line and during marches were always at the front. The First Minnesota also was an incredible unit that showed exceptional discipline under the most dangerous circumstances. The First Minnesota never retreated without orders, and when they did so, they were very orderly. They also unfailingly were put at the end of any army due to the fact that they were considered to be one of the best regiments in the Army of the Potomac.
  7. I personally think that the main deal that is really important though, is the economic side. If there were any complexity I would have for the warfare, it would be adding the need of supplies for your troops
  8. Maybe the reseeding of the farms would be costless and automatic. The only downside would be the fact that it would lower the produce collected during this time and in farm to zero food.
  9. Oh, by the way, speaking of main menus, it might be nice if the face for the Spartan to the farthest to the left to be a bit less yellow. At the present moment he appears quite ill.
  10. I actually think that the Celts are seriously underestimated. Practically every building they have gives an extra two population.
  11. Maybe the elves could have no siege unit. That would solve the problem very easily.
  12. As for the Jews, to be honest I think that they should not be implemented unless the game is set back another few hundred years with the days of David. The only other relatively significant part to mention for them would be the Maccabees. And even they existed for only approximately 107 years, nothing to match any of the other powers already planned with their longevity or strength. But when they were around does not fit well with either the first part's focus or the second's. The best way to have them be implemented in my view would be as easter egg units if anything.
  13. Also, is there any use to the Iberian monument structure?
  14. Also, David was a king. I do not think that he would require such things. Either way, these are my thoughts. It might be better to do the first temple as it was destroyed only around 576 B.C. making it fit a lot better with the time frame of the first part. I can see the second temple much more functional in part two. As for units, the Israelites were not the sorts who mainly used guerilla warfare unless you are speaking of the Maccabees and the Zealots. The Israelite's backbone in their army was in infantry, consisting of swordsmen, and spearmen. Slingers were used but not as frequently. Javelin throwers are not mentioned very much excepting with Joshua and the destruction of Ai. Later on though, the Israelites did use chariots and archers in battle.
  15. I think that farms should actually require food to be built. It seems quite ludicrous to think that actually wood chips would be capable of growing wheat. To balance this, you could make the gathering rate of farms a lot slower. As for taxation, I would only have such a system be used if there was a plan for happiness being an issue.
  16. Thinking of such, it might be good to have basic and advanced infantry be slightly more effective while by an elite or champion unit of their class is in proximity to them.
  17. Actually, I grew up with them. I suppose that my ignorance of some of that stuff is because I don't really take the time figure it out.
  18. I have had a bit of trouble playing the game. I am using Mac OSX Lion. The game runs really well at first, but once I select the citizen soldiers, everything freezes. As I am unable to get to the windows mode, (My keyboard lacks the alt key.) I have to shut down the computer as I have no way to force quit it.
  19. It would be pretty nifty if you could actually change the hot-keys to your liking. I think that a revision like this would be great.
  20. Well, you can match that by training your units in fives. That's the way I like to play as it makes it more logical to actually train the women first for their economic use.
