  1. I will consider your proposal. It's not what I have in mind right now though. Most of the RBs have fixes that are waiting to be committed by their respective owners which are sometimes not active. My plan is to commit them ASAP and to release a RC3. Wait for some testers to make sure it's not broken still. Then publish the announcement and the trailer. Moving the deadline and lifting restrictions could be done but it has implications for translations and stability and the people that are currently active now are not the ones that would work in balancing. So pushing the release two months from now with no proof that anything of value would be done seems a bit dangerous to me.

  2. It has been like... 10 years? I clearly remember the first prealphas, and then the first alphas. How the game started to grow, Civs, AIs, MP. I was 18 at the time, holy jesus. I did a trip around my country that year, I remember checking 0 a.d progress when I was bored in libraries. The thing is that I got older, I'm trying to spend less time in front on my computer, AoE have been remade (and now I have money to buy it), and I feel that 0 A.D got stuck on the gameplay. Anyway, I think is one of the most amazing open source videogame projects, with a lot of potential and hard work behind. As you noticed, this years I have been less and less active. I put that everything because I spend a lot of time here, and have some emotional value. I probably will look from time to time to the new versions, but overall I'm saying goodbye. Stay safe, enjoy what you like. PD: rename that Skiritai Commando to Skiritai runners or ekodromos, "commando" is a modern military notion! Just for real now, logging out!

  3. Sounds like some bones are not define in the skeleton file or they are not written well. I recommend to use this python script for generating the skeleton file:

  4. Turns out I'm free today, so I finished the custom template. Here is the patch if anybody's interested: https://code.wildfiregames.com/D4196 Basically with this patch, introductory tutorial would be less cluttered as units and structures can only build/train/research what is required by tutorial and not much more. There are some teasers though (Healers and Storehouse wood gathering tech are unlocked even though not required by tutorial). For those more interested in testing it as a mod, I have attached it below, A25 only. The next step would be to fix some tutorial language as some are referred by incorrect name (Xiphos/sidearm tech in Forge is referred as Infantry Training by tutorial instruction). And then my plan is to divide the tutorial into several smaller missions as per syllabus to ensure learning players can skip any stage. Please let me know what you guys think! limited-introductory-tutorial.zip

  5. Came back recently and from what i can tell the game isn’t as popular as it used to be, at least at 1300+ level. Often no one is online and it’s difficult to find people to play with so I made this discord with hopes of making it easier for those who want to play to arrange and organize games be it 1v1 or TG, set up game times with others. Can be used for other purposes as well like general discussion, posting 0ad related videos or other media, organizing tournaments, Ect. Main goal is still finding games. Goal is to keep the discord clean and organized so it’s not a mess and finding games is simple. requirement to join is that one must be 1300+ Come and get verified through your in game account and get your rank. Ranks (appropriate color): Gold:(top 3), Silver-(1900+), Bronze-(1800+), Iron-(1600+), Pleb-(1300+) there is also a separate channel category for anyone Iron or above for improved ease of finding challenging opponents.(just to clarify there is a single separate category encompassing everyone 1600+ therefore they can use both the regular channels and the "high level" ones.) https://discord.gg/2q9mj9Bue2

  7. The multiplier in A23 was not existent. SP player want bugger turn rates and actually welcomed the change while MP players want it gone. The reason it's there to prevent dancing. Since it's been lowered again by @wraitii i suppose dancing was somewhat restored which IMHO is a big regression.

  8. Okay, so I have been trying to mod in a new unit with a custom model, skeleton and animations into the game for a while. I have created the actor file in the mod directory and the subdirectories for the mesh and the skeleton but everytime I try to load the new unit in Atlas it outputs: error: art/meshes/skeletal/argonian_militia.dae: Assertion not satisfied (line 393): failed requirement "recognized skeleton structure" error: Could not load mesh 'art/meshes/skeletal/argonian_militia.dae' error: CObjectEntry: :BuildVariation(): Model art/meshes/skeletal/argonian_militia.dae failed to load I'm kinda clueless on what may be causing this. Can you help me out?

  9. There are two sides to everything. For pros this is good news but they can also use this dancing to troll less experienced players. So it is extremely difficult for nubs to progress, a bit like A23. People will get really confused by the change. In A24 units are quite reluctant to turn, move and attack, but in A25 suddenly all units charge like crazy, which can upset some medium level players. Also, the balancing issues that arise from charging (OP melee, OP javelineers, useless archers and slingers) means less fair on certain civs like Carthage, meanwhile Macedon and Seleucids are absolutely OP.

  10. what's your point? the kushite temple should have people painted in red? anyway, the time reference for the kushite faction in 0AD should include the 25th dinasty and the meroitic kingdom I suppose.

  11. It worked, thank you very much, Atlas imports the rigged mesh properly now. I have also tried to bake and export the dae animations from Blender as suggested in the AnimationExportTutorial and while the animation loads, it looks completely deformed. Is it a problem with the scale of the mesh or is the baking process that's messed up?

  14. Sorry for the late reply. The forum shows "You have reached the maximum number of posts you can make per day." The left ctrl problem seems to be a result of the "show cursor" functionality of gnome-tweak. I turn off the option and the game window just capture my left ctrl correctly. Also, I use a browser to test if it captures left ctrl key press. It turns out that neither does my browser capture left ctrl if "show cursor" is enabled. Therefore, this is not a bug of 0ad. Maybe add this strange behavior in FAQ or elsewhere to help others deal with this problem. @LetswaveaBook the attachment is the screenshot of my mods. I downloaded and enabled a mod to provide zh_TW translation. However, I still use the default language (English). I think the crash on map selection isn't related to mods in my case ...

  15. I also what thinking about doing at that some point. But yeah, I was looking for excuse to be lazy and postpone it. A25 being around the corner seems a fair excuse. So if you post such a video, I would gladly see on your way of explaining. What might also be nice is to show how to add technologies, change phase requirements or create units similar the the women_house file. One of the benefits of the 0AD game engine is that practically anyone can make mods to test balance changes.

  16. Thank you. I am also planning to make tutorial videos teaching people how to make mods, so that they can experiment with their own balancing ideas.
