  2. @user1I have attached the replay here, when doctororgans started losing he left the game, there was no error of "losing connection to server", then he joined again and said i ddos him, which i didn't, then he said there is OOS error which was again a lie, as i didn't see any oos error. After wasting my time with his baseless excuses for 5-10 mins he said unpause when i unpaused he started playing like nothing happened, then again when i started winning, he said he won't let me get points and started making the same excuses all over again. Such a bad experience. metadata.json commands.txt

  4. Not for the moment but as I said, the type Alesia and Port helmets are from a later period. The only helmets that would fit the Cimbrian war are: - the Celtic Montefortino like those found in Förk, Apahida, Ciumesti, Moscano di Fabriano etc. Either in bronze or in iron. - the Italic Montefortino, the same the Romans used. It was also used by other people, especially during the 2nd century BC. Exclusively in bronze. - the simple Coolus helmet, also called Coolus-Mannheim. Exclusively in bronze. I would suggest you to use only these ones: Also avoid using the lenticular/almond shaped shield. I don't think there is evidence for its use by the Germans.

  7. We all know that current citizen-soldiers can work and build buildings, as well as fight. This has been a major turn off for many people who came from Age of Empires and similar games. Instead of regurgitating all that's been said in the past, I'll just post a link to a comment that described it best: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=32993448 So, I'll propose a system that's already present in some mods for the game, with a few caveats. The major changes would include the following. 1) Citizen-soldiers are no longer citizens. They are basic soldiers that can't gather any resource, but can still build some military buildings. Rationale is that this separates the responsibilities between your fighting units and economic units. This is a key trait that has defined RTS genre from the beginning. 2) Women are replaced by a "Citizen" unit that is randomly assigned a gender when created. These citizens are your economic units. They can gather resources, build all buildings, repair, etc. They don't have different gather rates, the difference is cosmetic. They cost only 50 food, so you don't waste wood on building any gatherers in the early game. Obviously, this requires a new model for male citizens. 3) Common soldiers can only be trained at the Barracks, Stables or Archery Ranges. Soldiers will not be able to build Civic Centers, nor should they be trainable from the Civic Centers. Some mercenary units that cost Metal could be made as an exception to this rule. 4) Common soldiers can still gain ranks as normal. No change is required here. Players can choose to train cheaper, more expendable units, or spend more resources for champions. I don't want to sound divisive, but the current model is very off-putting for someone who just wants to sit down and play a fun game. Different gather rates for females and male citizen-soldiers are the core of this issue. Why keep this feature and needlessly complicate the player's decision making in the early game? The player should gain options as he/she advances through the phases, builds up their town, researches upgrades. Not immediately at the start. Not to mention the balance considerations, the needless code that went into implementing a very questionable design decision. Even from the historical standpoint. Thank you for reading all this. If not, here's a TL:DR: Citizen-soldiers are an outdated concept, that has needlessly complicated the gameplay of this very promising RTS game for so long. The player must have a clear decision-tree at the start of each game, and gain options as he/she advances through the phases. The player shouldn't be punished for making gatherers (the wood cost). There should be a clear distinction between economic and military units. A new "Citizen" unit could replace the female worker, with a new male model added for each civilization. Citizen-soldiers could become just basic, expendable troops.

  8. Greetings everybody I'm creating this topic, because I posted the suggestion for this civ in the "Honour and Glory" forum, but I came up with so many references, that the necessity of having a topic of its own became unavoidable. Also, it came to my attention when I was collecting and searching for interesting elements, that it was more relevant to put this topic here, in the rise of the east forum, than in the millenium one, because I think the geographical area I cover, and the period too are more fitting of this mod in my opinion. Here you'll find elements of presentation of the ancient sinhalese civilization, and if someone is interested, one can even start modding this civilization. Such a mod would cover the earlier part of the period of Anuradhapura Kingdom (4th century BC to 11th century AD):https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anuradhapura First of all, I want to give you a quick introduction to the sinhalese culture. I must warn you that the sources of ancient history of the island are mostly buddhist manuscripts, which are not the most reliable sources for historians, but nevertheless integrate some factual, proven elements. Sinhalese people live in the Island called today "Sri Lanka", which used to be known as "Ceylon" under the rule of the british empire (this designation is still used on tea boxes, and Sri Lanka remains today the first exporter of tea in the world). The island of Sri Lanka is situated right under India, having the shape of a teardrop. The island has a very ancient, complex and rich history. I won't detail all of it, because it wouldn't be relevant for the purpose of this introduction, but I will nonetheless introduce some elements. First of all, Sri Lanka is inhabited by three main ethnicities (there are actually more groups, but let's not complicate things! ) First of all, it's been inhabited for thousands of years by the Vedda people (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vedda), an aboriginal culture that lived in harmony with nature, and who are not as many today as they used to be. During these ancient times, the Island was known as Trapobana (Ταπροβανᾶ) by the greeks, and was said to be inhabited by anthropophagous demons by indians (the Mahabharata designated Lanka as the kingdom of the legendary demon Ravana and his clan). Then, according to a buddhist source, the Mahavamsa, Prince Vijaya and his 700 companions set foot on the Island in the middle of the 6th century BC, the very day the Buddha died. They allegedly came from a kingdom in North eastern India, in today's Bengal. Vijaya was said to descend from a lion, hence the name "sinhalese" or "sinhala": the lion people". He founded the kingdom of Tambapanni (543 BC - 505 BC), but having no descendant to succeed him asked his nephew Panduvasdeva to come from India, and rule his kingdom after his death. However, his nephew had not arrived yet when he died, so he left his minister Upatissa to be the regent (the latter is nevertheless considered as a king, in the official list of sinhalese kings). When Panduvasdeva finally arrived, he was established as the new king and founded his own dynasty: the house of Vijaya, which was going to last until 66 AD. During the rule of the sinhalese monarchs, the veddas fled in the forests and mountains of the center of the island, and new invaders came to test the power of the Anuradhapura Kingdom, established in 474 BC, after several changes of capital cities. These invaders were tamils from Southern India. They had strong armies and superior navy, and they succeeded into seizing the throne of Anuradhapura several times during its long history, sometimes for a short period, sometimes for a longer period (some kings being wise and respected even by the Sinhalese people, as King Elara- 205 - 161 BC) only to be driven out every time by a sinhalese counterattack. However they finally destroyed and sacked Anuradhapura for the last time in 1017 AD, occupying it for 53 years. From this moment, tamils had established a permanent foothold on Sri Lanka, and founded several kingdoms. The sinhalese would never come back in their old capital, and instead moved to Pollonaruwa, during the medieval times. Modern Sri Lanka has been shaped by the turbulent history between sinhalese (roughly 70% of the population) and tamils, the last chapter of this conflict being the civil war from 1982 to 2009 between the secessionist "tamil tigers" of the LTTE, and the government of Sri Lanka (also comprising tamils in its ranks), who would finally be victorious. I'm not going to enter political debates here, I'm just summing up some facts. What distingues the most sinhalese people from tamils and other indians, are their attachment to buddhism (theravada buddhism). They always (at least since the reign of Devanampiya Tissa) have seen their island as a holy sanctuary for buddhist tradition. They possess numerous relics from the buddha (for example, a tooth from the buddha, and a sacred tree born from an offspring of the famous tree under which the budha attained the enlightenment) and feel a great pride abour it. The island remained a buddhist fortress during the times where the Mauryan empire collapsed in India (thus considering the kingdom of Anuradhapura as the true heir to Ashoka's legacy would not be inappropriate), during the Shunga, and Gupta dynasties, and even if it has been conquered since by the Portuguese, which brought catholicism, the Dutch, and the English, which brought protestantism, and also received the influence of muslim merchants, bringing Islam into the island, the inner core of the country remained the sinhalese buddhist community. It's because of this attachment of buddhism as part of their destiny, that Sinhalese were fierce and indomitable fighters when invaders threatened their soil, because they considered themselves as guardians of this sacred legacy, and some still feel this way today... Therefore, as far as the mod is concerned, my proposal would depict the Sinhalese during the time of the early Anuradhapura Kingdom (267 BC to 60 AD) which mostly covers the era of Vijaya Dynasty. It could also be possible to cover the middle Anuradhapura Kingdom (66 AD to 515 AD) which would cover the first part of the era of Lambakanna dynasty, and the rise of the Moriya dynasty. Here's the list of sinhalese monarchs: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Sinhalese_monarchs I will post more elements soon. Regards.

  9. Adds a more advanced bot(based on PETRA) to the game. UPDATE: Version 0.7.1 Disabled debugging. Fixed a bug when recruiting a large number of support units. The number would be around 60. UPDATE: Version 0.7.0 Support Units will react early and move a safe distance away from the opponent's units (Ranged and Melee). Ranged Units will react early and move a safe distance away from the opponent's Melee units. UPDATE: Version 0.6.1 During resource gathering, units will be distributed more optimally, depending on the speed of gathering a specific resource. UPDATE: Version 0.6.0 Added settings for the game with a limit of 200 units. Changed settings for queue manager. Now resources can be transferred without restrictions from low-priority to high-priority queues. UPDATE: Version 0.5.5 When planning the base, buildings will be placed closer together. To reduce unnecessary movement of workers, Houses will be built near Storehouses. UPDATE: Version 0.5.3 UPDATE: Version 0.5.1 Compatible with 0.27.0 Economics When recruiting workers, mercenaries no longer belong to this class (as they do not have the resource gathering skill). Factions that have access to mercenaries will first recruit a certain number of workers from their units, then mercenaries. For faster economic recovery Added scripts that check the number of Support units in each game Phase, if there are fewer units, their recruitment priority is increased. Construction of Special Buildings: These are built as soon as they become available to a faction. For example, Carthage will build all 3 Embassies in Phase 2, not Phase 3. Sparta will build a Syssition on Phase 1 and a Senate on Phase 2, not Phase 3. Corral - 5 in total. Build from the beginning of the game. UPDATE: Version 0.3.0 For the Volatile Market mod: Added a feature for building an Embassy. Prioritize exchanges to get resources(food, wood, stone, metal). Batch Size changes depending on the amount of food resource available. The more resource available, the larger the size can be. UPDATE: Version 0.2.1 Changing priorities and some other settings. UPDATE: Version 0.2.0 Bot adapted for the Volatile Market mod. Actively barters new resources and researches technologies. Settings are more noticeable after 15-20min of play. Focused on players with experience. Bot with the same bonuses for each difficulty level as the basic PETRA. At population limit(e.g. 300) it will hire units up to the ceiling. More technology and economy oriented at the start. More active in the Market. Builds more buildings to hire units. bot_PETRA_Expert.zip

  10. Unfortunately, I don't think there is a simple and single answer. Different strategies can be used that lead to success or to failure. It is you who need to decide according your preference and according to the game situation: which civ you play and which opponents you have - also different if you fight against AI or human opponents. As an example, spamming units fast (rushing) while ignoring the economy can be risky. Turtling and not moving forward quickly enough for proper defense can also cause failure. Focussing on champions only is not a guarantee to win either. There seems to be no single strategy that is guaranteed to win - and that is actually great as it allows differnt playstyles.

  11. Updated to Version 0.6.0 Added settings for the game with a limit of 200 units. Changed settings for queue manager. Now resources can be transferred without restrictions from low-priority to high-priority queues. Some factions are gaining 150+ units each in less than 12 minutes from game start.

  14. Any suggestion? Basic units are generally boring compared to elite ones. One idea is to use some of the furs, like what is used for the wolf warriors and Teutobod. I could also give them cloaks/capes. Could you maybe draw on this .png which helmets are problematic? @Genava55 Could you also indicate which bosses are problematic? My thoughts are that simple bosses and/or no bosses would be ideal. Some of them clash with the geometric artwork on the shields. For Boiorix, I like the idea of using one of those simple iron caps (but shiny :D).
