  1. Chinese Buddhism and Taoism only took their prototypes in the Han Dynasty. The popularity of these two religions was from the Northern and Southern Dynasties to the Tang Dynasty after the collapse of the Han Dynasty. According to Emperor Liu Xun, the early ideology of the Han Dynasty was "霸王道杂之", that is, the balance between power and morality. Later emperors abandoned the pragmatist attitude and turned to extremely respecting Confucianism, which actually led to the demise of the Han Dynasty. In addition, the statement about Confucianism here is very stereotyped, and it is a view of Confucianism a thousand years later. The characteristic of Confucianism in the Han Dynasty is actually respecting ancient times, believing that there was an ideal society in ancient times, and the way to establish such an ideal society is Retro. At the same time, Confucianism also began to become religious, linking the destiny of the country and society with various astronomical and geographical phenomena, which was called "天人感应". Chinese society during this period was actually much flatter than later, because the social system of the Han Dynasty retained many remnants of the ancient commune system, so its class and relationship between men and women were much more equal than later.

  2. Now for something different: Tartarus... My imagination starts to roll about maybe having a secret mythologically-based campaign after you complete all of the historical campaigns (Punic Wars, Persian Wars, Alexander's Anabasis, et al.)

  3. Don't think we support inline links. Most of the time we use buttons for that. And you have to warn people they are leaving the game. Also internationalization might be troublesome.

  4. 0AD's initiative to give a historical and educational context to the game, the AoE saga also brings this feature, where AoM stands out the most. It explains every detail, technology, building and unit. The encyclopedia is included in the game. It gives a simple and short summary of the topics covered. ----- @ShadowOfHassen here is.

  6. alright, will do. Athena looks nice, but I think I might go another way and give different parts of the body different shades of golden/brown/black. It seems that new researches are saying that even bronze statues were coloured by using different combinations of metals: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Riace_bronzes#/media/File:Experimental_Reconstruction_of_Riace_Bronzes.jpg https://www.ronhenggeler.com/Newsletters/2017/11.6/Newsletter.html https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bunte_Götter_–_Die_Farbigkeit_antiker_Skulptur#/media/Datei:Bronze_head_(Glyptothek_Munich_457)_with_and_without_patina_Bunte_Götter_exhibition_revised.jpg I'll try not to make it too colourful, just a few nuances. Let me know what you think good call, I didn't even see that there is an apollo as well

  7. Wow! Thanks Stan! Was not aware at all: When I am playing, I have really PLENTY of food in the end (>10k) from 4 fields despite I train troops like hell. (this led me into thinking more fields would be a waste of resources) Most likely I could train more and at a faster rate. I never noticed it due to my questionable playing skills (but still having fun) I am continuously learning new details! Thanks a lot!

  8. You can make more fields so there are less farmers per field.

  9. It's been there since at least 13 alphas ^^ (Alpha 13) https://trac.wildfiregames.com/ticket/1318 A few years later it was added as part of the tooltip https://code.wildfiregames.com/D1803

  10. A great new feature for the localratings Mod would be to make balance recommendations in TGs.

  11. The argument is it can't reasonably be discovered and to a lesser extent the means to distributing units across fields are lacking. If those issues can be fixed diminishing returns doesn't sound bad but coming up with a decent proposal seems non trivial.

  14. Yeah, there wouldn't be external links, but internal links should be easy. The links as basically really tiny buttons that go with the text.

  15. What I'm picturing is the articles of the encyclopedia referencing each other. No external links. If that is really not possible, linking to related encyclopedia articles at the bottom and of the page seems good enough as well.

  16. Hi everyone, I have got a suggestion: Let's redefine the encyclopedia's goal, not writing an article about every unit, building, etc., but instead writing enough articles so every unit, building, etc. can be linked to at least one article. For example: There is not much to say specifically about Han sword cavalry, however, there is much interesting information about the swords they used, about Han cavalry in general, and maybe about the breeding of the cavalry's mounts. So, instead of writing a text about these exact cavalry swordsmen, I could write about the topics I just mentioned in the example which are way more interesting. And yes, I know that I've to some degree already been doing this. But if the encyclopedia ends up outside of only the unit or building overview in-game, then each article will need a title. And for example, the text for the stable describes that civ's cavalry in general. And I find it misleading and simply wrong to title this text 'stables' since the text is not actually mentioning stables themselves. I know this might seem irrelevant, but it's really not for me. That would give me more freedom, I could eloborate further and entirely leave out what would have been plain and boring texts anyway. And it would only affect only about 10% of units or buildings, and nothing needs to be redone to to fit this new goal. And we can of course still store the texts in the unit's or building's game file that will eventually link to the exact text in the encyclopedia. Do you get what I mean? What do you think?

  17. Meh. I am not a fan of scripts that automate the game as it provides an unfair advantage. The advantage here is de minimis, but I just dislike the concept. There was a player a few alphas ago who had a script that did all eco for him (made women, built storehouses, houses, built farms, directed units to all res, barracks, etc.). So all he did was micro rushes against players that were trying to do eco and defend rush at the same time.
