I have already been experimenting with giving the game a much needed update to the terrain textures. I have been exclusively using assets from this website here, licensed as cc0: CC0 Textures - Public Domain PBR Materials We could contact this gentleman and ask for his assistance in creating new assets if his site currently does not have them and WFG could even become a Patron (his highest Patreon level is $5/month). Even if we don't try to partner with him, we can still utilize his excellent CC0 assets and ask him to check out how we're using his stuff. cough I am very keen now on using CC0 or CC-BY-SA materials. eh hem. And so far the results have been better than I'd hoped. EXAMPLES India: Desert (using assets from the India biome) Alpine-Polar (I think these 2 should be combined) Pros for updating the terrains: The game's current terrains are inconsistent in quality and scattershot in style. A new set of terrains can unify the quality and style. Terrains take up a massive amount of screen space, or what the player sees, so improving them gives a large boost in visual quality. The current terrains don't fully take advantage of the graphics engine's capabilities. A new set of terrains can do that. Improving the terrains can bring the look of the game closer to modern expectations. We can reduce the sheer number of terrains by half, which comes with the benefit of visual consistency and ease of use for mappers. Cons for updating the terrains: It will take considerable effort and take attention away from other possible tasks. The new textures will be on average 4x larger than the existing textures and will add normal maps and spec maps where previously there were few. Will increase the graphics memory load and possibly push out those with low-spec computer rigs. ?1 point

Tangentially related since this has nothing do with 64 bit builds, but wdbg code is written in a really old win api and has not been updated since it was written more than a decade ago. Better ways to get a backtrace are now available in the win api. Someone should really refactor those early 2000's code.1 point

Proposal for differentiating the civic centers ('Forums'): As you might know, the actual Roman CC is based on the Basilica Julia (built in 46 BC, built by order of Julius Caesar). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basilica_Julia However, I think all civs should have at least 2 characterizing (different) buildings; CCs and Wonders. I propose a Romans (Principate) CC based on the Basilica Ulpia. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basilica_Ulpia 'The Basilica Ulpia was an ancient Roman civic building located in the Forum of Trajan'. https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basilica_Ulpia From the Italian entry; 'La basilica fu costruita tra il 106 e il 113' (AD). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trajan's_Forum 'Trajan's Forum (Latin: Forum Traiani; Italian: Foro di Traiano) was the last of the Imperial fora to be constructed in ancient Rome.' (Built by order of Trajan). Historic reconstruction: https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basílica_Ulpia#/media/Archivo:Foro_de_Trajano-planta.png https://www.pinterest.es/pin/78179743511997614/ Artist reconstruction (taken from; https://www.altair4.com/en/imperatori/traiano/): https://www.altair4.com/it/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2017/01/roma_tempiotraiano_rid.jpg1 point

The two actors of the day, the indo-greek mercenary swordsman and the bactrian cataphract that has a small issue: From left to right: 1 basic, 2 advanced and 2 elite. The "small issue", the mask clips through almost every helmet and the new mask model is the one that clips "less". I wish there was a way to make the mask go just a bit lower.1 point

I will give you some hints on how to start the first minute and what you should aim for. The idea is to pump out units initially as fast as possible. You will outproduce the very easy AI. I would suggest doing these moves at the start, which work on most maps. 1. Click on your Civic Center. Then press ctrl+z to train a batch of women. We train batches of units if possible, since training in batches speeds up the production and allows to produce more units per minute. 2. Order your women to gather berries and your camel rider to hunt chicken 3. Order 2 of your men to build a farmstead near your berries such that your women gather more efficiently. The other 2 soldiers can build a house and a storehouse. 4. Click on your Civic Center again. Press ctrl+1 to put the CC on a control group. When the CC is selected click on a tree to place a gather point. Once the women are created, they will now directly go and chop wood.. 5. Wait until the women are nearly ready. When they are, press the shift button and use the mouse wheel to change the batch size. You should set the batch size such that it is the maximum batch size you can afford. 6. As soon as the farmstead is build, you should do the berry gather upgrade and move the infantry that build it and order them to gather wood. The idea is to train the maximum batch size you can afford. Also make enough houses to be able to support the population. In order to do so, you need to press 1 (assuming you set the civic center on control group 1) and see how long it takes before you need to order a new batch. At some point, your berries run out and you need to think of a new source of food income. To keep your Civic center producing constantly, you need around 10 farmers or 4 berry gathers After some time, you can afford a barracks. Again it is the idea to put the barracks on a control group and constantly produce. You need to remember that once you get the barracks, you will need more food income to keep it running, so you probably need to add 10 farmers. The more units you produce, the more resources you gather and thus the more you can spent and the more barracks you will need in the end. Strategies can vary, but you will most often need at least 2 barracks before going to p2. Once you are thinking about going to p2, you have more freedom to decide what your priorities will be. The key is to adapt to your resources. If you are floating wood, you can spend extra wood by building pikemen from your CC, construct buildings and do the upgrades. If you are short on wood you probably make mainly women from your CC. Also if you can move camel archers and do economy at the same time, you can do a camel rush. However as a new player that might be too taxing on your skills.1 point

batches of men during booming, single men spam from barracks during battles. In this second case I sometimes use autoqueue (from autociv), but you need to deactivate it as soon as the battle ends, to return training in batches.1 point

I would choose to click 5 times. This is more flexible than setting the batch size to 5, so if you are rich then you train more than 5 in a batch and if you are poor you train smaller batches, but either way your barracks would not be idle. When you are booming, always train as much as you can actually afford. Never stockpile on food and wood, unless your strategy needs it. When you are fighting, spam barracks and train units one by one from them, so that you are always reinforcing your front line and never outnumbered. Don't train in batches when you are fighting! Therefore I recommand spamming around 3-5 barracks near the front line, if it is attritional battle then you need more. If your whole base is under attack and you can't fight back, garrison all units first, then train the largest batch. Once your big batch is out, release all of the garrisoned soldiers as well and fight the enemy with all you got. Enable loom tech and use women as anti-ram. Set women on violent mode; they are also decent anti-archer meatshield.1 point

no it is, but if the player gets a banned sim, he is forced to chose one yes allowed up to 2 times he will have 15 minutes to join back, if that is not met he will forfeit that match, if this is done on the second or first match, he is given another 15 minutes to join the second/third play-off. if he doesn't come then he automatically looses the match. Hope that answers your questions man!1 point
