  3. I don't think the Stoa units should be champions to be honest. They should just be merc citizen-soldiers. I actually wish they were removed and the stoa used for something else other than just a barracks.

  8. This is an overhaul for the Scythian Archer actor file. It is based on amphorae illustrations of Scythian mercenaries, some will be armored like how it was depicted in the amphorae.

  12. Note: Feathers/Hair/Randomized Crest, haven't been applied yet because i wan't to check wich hair texture from the game looks better and find a way of make it generic and work for all helmets before starting to make the same version of the hair over and over. If someone wants to make a hair 256x128 texture both for short and long haired versions with higher quality than the ones we already have feel free, from the helmets i don't like the hair we have ingame for them. Also, it would be better if we have a new actor material working like basic_player_trans_parallax_spec using as texture all the faction colors (1 texture per faction color) and make the actor choose the texture based on the player color, this way we could use 2015+ hair texture alpha like the ones in the horse manes and tails. ie: variant name="Player1" texture: "Blue" Just in case we want to go for a better helmet hair quality.

  15. Related: https://www.zdnet.com/article/github-starts-blocking-developers-in-countries-facing-us-trade-sanctions/ However it's not GitHub itself to blame here, but US government. IIRC we ourselves have a team member from Iran.

  16. Introduce coin resource and taxation to the game? Delenda Est sure did made a good purpose for mercenaries in the game and developed a good system for it. His mercenary system functions like what it should really be, a good economy means a good coffer, you could be rich if you are abundant with something, not just metal. Carthage did had the necessities to fund mercenary armies, because they had a really good economy. That was the purpose of mercenaries right? So you do not have to force and drill the locals to muster a force, with the right amount of coin, an army could be yours in a snap. In most desperate times, you could drain your Mercenary camps could be city-phase military structures. You had to be in city-phase to access mercenaries. Mercenary Camp Requirement: City Phase To avoid rush tactics Construction Cost: Coin (1000) You pay for mercenaries to invite them to your territory Unit Production: Mercenary / Coin (100) / Limit (No. of camp available) Similar to Delenda Est to avoid spam

  30. I agree on the idea but this could be more about "regional" units than mercenaries. It could be also special abilities for some factions, like the Romans and the Persians, getting new available auxiliaries from the capture of ennemy's fortress or civic center. For example Numidian auxiliary cav when they capture a Carthaginian fortress. I think the idea of wowgetoffyourcellphone of map mercenary camps to capture is great. It creates a sense of geopolitical context between players, making also the importance to capture strategic points on the map. Yeah I used this idea to include regional units in the new rosters of the Celtic factions I suggested. Clearly Caledonian swordsman with back scabbard as the Batoros and Irish elite javelinist as the Caur. For the Gauls, I suggested to let the player unlock which regional champion he wants: Rhine region cavalry based on Belgian and Germanic items and inspired about the Tencteri and Usipetes fighting style. Aquitanian elite bodyguard inspired from the Sotiates account, with chain mail decorated with some decorated plates. Alpine axeman based on the finding from the Ticino region.

  31. Plutarch, Life of Aemilius Paullus, 18.5: "First the Thracians advanced, whose appearance, Nasica says, was most terrible, — men of lofty stature, clad in tunics which showed black beneath the white and gleaming armour of their thureos shields and greaves, and tossing high on their right shoulders rhomphaia heavy with iron."

  32. For Delenda Est, I blended these units into DE's proprietary mercenary system (accessible to players via capturable "Mercenary Camps"), and then used the Stoa as a special starting structure for the Greek civs.
