I got all my humanoid biped animations in and they all seem to be working. I now have the first fully animated model in the engine: Hopefully in the next week I'll have some more interesting units to show.4 points

The balancing is tuned for experienced players. So it's like survival of the fittest for the bad to mediocre players and the better ones will overcome gaia eventually and be able to defeat their enemy. When testing, the AI often succeeded surviving gaia, but sometimes was completely crippled by stupid things like a tower of the stronghold reaching into the territory and the AI suiciding every unit one by one into the fortification. The lag is definitely increased, both graphical (many actors) and simulation (unit spawning). There were lag optimizations (not using the TriggerHelper function which uses the slow Footprint component to check for irrelevant spawn positions). Not sure how much it can be improved, but it didn't seem too bad to me. > had to be a couple thousand or more gaia units roaming That should (TM) be impossible. Should be 50-100 if one side of the river is wiped out. The gif at D204 is expected be representative. The ships stop ungarrisoning units on that side of the river, if that side of the river is wiped out. However looking at the code, it seems that that the civic center attackers don't have that check. In that case: Fail. Should only run into that situation if there are more than 2 teams at least. Here the exact, hopefully very easily understandable manifest of how many units spawn at which time: Since I'm really into Danubius replays: Can I haz?2 points

Construction should be similar to the carthaginians, its a stone/ mud brick wall with a plaster finish. its not particularly realistic since it usually showcases different parts of the building at different stages of construction. Greek temples' blocks are a little different, they have iron ties fastening together the stones, and the drum-by-drum construction of a column would be interesting to depict as well2 points

One issue with this map is that gaia seems to not have population limit checks. I was playing with 5 or so computer players. I couldn't understand why the lag was so horrible because I often use 5+ computer players on maps. When I was declared the winner even though I had not attacked yet, I checked the other side of the river and there had to be a couple thousand or more gaia units roaming around and the river was filled with their ships. I know triggers can ignore population limit rules, but I think this map should only produce gaia units up to some predetermined limit. (The limit could vary depending on number of players, max pop limit size, map size, etc.)2 points

Yeah for the love of god I don't know why these guys like to delete perfectly good models.2 points

Here you can share your replays of games. There is no limitation regarding multiplayer, single player, with or without mods, but in case some piece configuration is funky, include it in the title. The title should contain the name of the map and the number of players at the very least. The top post should include the necessary files (commands and metadata) for starting the replay. It is not mandatory to spoil who won or anything else, do as you prefer. You can add a screenshot to attract people Important: Like everywhere else, but especially here, insults towards other people are not tolerated. This is only a game, even though it has a special place in our lives. Regarding reports of bad conduct: Lobby moderators should be contacted directly in case of misbehavior (disconnections, insults in the game chat, cheating,...) but here is not the place to post replays proving that.1 point

Yeah, I also think it is some driver issue… Had similar issues with another application (although a completely different area), see this issue. I could reproduce the issue generating a random game against KI (but I think the settings do not matter, also happened in multiplayer in the past). This time I could get past the loading screen and it even showed me the initial view on the CC, Music kept playing, but I could not move my mouse and also no keyboard input seems to be considered anymore. Logs attached. (Note that one successful game against KI offline is included, incl. win) But the logs seem to be useless, interestinglog was even empty. freeze.tar.xz1 point

Following up on this thread to advertise that Alpha 22 Venustas is now available in the Ubuntu store as a snap package. All that's required to install and run it is: snap install play0ad snap connect play0ad:process-control :process-control play0ad.0ad Feedback welcome!1 point

Units getting stuck happen many times. I would suggest the developers make provisions so that when this happens the player becomes aware. Like maybe blinking. RoN has this blinking on units when they are stuck. You will be behind a couple unit production when this happens. I remember spectating a decent game and around 5 citizen soldier/women can't produce in a minute because one woman got stuck.1 point

No formations IIRC. And yes, may also happen with rams and yeah, boats are also a very difficult thing for the pathfinder as it seems. So this is not limited to any specific object/animal/…, but rather a general problem with the pathfinder… Sometimes also other things just "got stuck" somewhere or so. Such donkeys!1 point

So many units just can't find their way through but normally they should be able to. It's just a matter of putting extra effort or making constructions right especially if your units are big. This should not happen if maybe path finding is better or in case of structural obstruction corners should be made in radius. Maybe the unit feet or whatever you call that can't be a polygon. I experienced 3 elephants can't go thru structures but the gaps were enough. With patience I was able to get them through though I was playing with the bots. If you're in multiplayer it's either you delete the obstructions or the units if it's not possible.1 point

I should while I'm at it huh? Wont be simultaneous of course, different actor paths and all that1 point

(Plural word for entity) with oblong hitboxes (Rams, and especially Boats) are notorious for ruining the pathfinder. It's not just limited to Elephants.1 point

Read: "How to open an app from a unidentified developer and exempt it from Gatekeeper" on that page: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202491 If you have to pay for your antivirus updates and you don't want to, uninstall completely your antivirus and enable Windows Defender, the one that is bundled in Windows 10. It is as efficient as other freemium antivirus and the updates come with the Windows ones. Also make sure you perform those updates regularly. The popups are not here for you to ignore them, securing your PC is important1 point

In others classics rts games is: Spearmen = Anti-cavalry (some "special" units can tank also) Swordsmen = Anti-Spearmen (some "special" units can kill ranged) Ranged = Anti-Spearmen and Swordsmen Cavalry = Anti ranged units (kill some light infantry as Swordsmen due to its higher hp)1 point
