All well known, my point (one of) being that, even when others did have weapons, they didn’t really train with them (save those who hunted, or participated in games, for example). I’m mentioning all this just because it’s just such a counterintuitive thing, yet that’s how their culture was.

Haven't watched the whole thing, but looks a bit better in some parts in the video. The rectangular merchant and circular military parts still would have the wrong orientation though. For those who don’t know, it left its mark to this day: -
After the authors have explained their idea, I want to supplement this topic, taking into account your explanation. I have to click on the barracks, not only those that have stopped, but also those that are operating normally. This kind of mechanics speaks to the sabotage inherent in the code. My clicks number in the thousands. And the further I go, the more irritated I get. I have the full impression that one of your employees planted such a pig on the team before he was fired - disabling AutoQueue. He was counting on you to fix this bug in 2 days. But you have accomplished a feat - you have preserved this bug for new generations. Who, at such a young age, encounter the sad concept of "decomposition of adequacy." Over the past 20 years, you have experienced professional brain degradation. And you think bugs and junk code are normal. Tip: Show your game to a psychiatrist from a nearby building. And listen to his diagnosis. To an outsider, it seems like wildness and incipient dementia. It's like using a slide rule instead of a modern computer. This is not a game, this is a real downgrade. I suggest placing 1 in the place of the barracks, and let the users click on this 1, it's so exciting. The first minute. The rest of the time, users will be creative (on your advice) and invent new game insults against developers.

I mean, afaik, spartans enslaved the native helots. they were scared of a revolt from helots, so they never allowed helots to fight and bare weapons. true that brasidas changed things around tho

I think you are using the words "LITERALLY" and "historically" a bit too generously. What even is a fighting class at that time? Ancient Greeks, at least until the end of the Classical period, didn’t practise hoplomachia (weapons training)*, thinking courage alone would carry the day. No, not even the Spartans, their training consisted mostly in improving their fitness, and for the other city-states, people just didn’t have that much free time. They would go from working to fighting and back to working, and only at most one third of those who were able to fight (randomly chosen per campaign, only the generals had a more fixed position). That’s maybe why they insisted on the belief that courage was enough, otherwise their impossible to train militias would be demoralised. Helots were good enough, to the point that both Thucydides and Diodoros Siculus state that those who served under Brasidas were "freed" (implying that they distinguished themselves), while the Spartans that surrendered at Sphacteria were disenfranchised (at least for a time). What is more, a helot farmer could have been more combat ready than an Athenian trader or potter. Diodoros Siculus also states that "since Brasidas had been joined by a thousand Helots and troops had been levied among the allies, a satisfactory force was assembled". Now, if you want to nerf them for some not-so-historical reason, you could think of an "enslaved" characteristic (imagining that their fear would have been greater than their courage, or something), although I don’t understand why you propose a penalty on speed and not, as I think would make more sense, a penalty on attack or defense. But still, they would have fought satisfactorily enough, their fate being tied to that of their masters in the battlefield, and although they revolted and were liberated by Sparta’s enemies at other points in time, a battle is quite a convoluted scenario for any of that to happen, and I’m not aware of any records of it happening. *Certain ranged units like archers or slingers did have to practise, otherwise they’d be useless. Same with cavalry.

Helot Skirmishers should have -8% movement speed on account of them LITERALLY not being historically a fighting class/ethnicity

Sometimes, I also resign games that are already gg, I have no chance to recover or is non-viable in any way, some think is "rage quit," but I just save my time and move fast to the next game that can work. I wouldn't worry if I was you what they think because of you resign a game, some players are over competitive in my opinion. In fact, in rated games resigning must done before leave.

Diagonalo I wrote all those off topic things there because as you can see in those multiple ss you attached, you made a big deal of me banning you and not wanting you to join my games, said I rage baited you and toxic behavior. Also you sent me the link in the game and said you made a post and I should add my comments so I did explain my actions and how got there to that conclusion. And about the game before that which taunted you "resign?" On your failed rush, which you didn't, is the main point of all these. I taunted cuz you do this a lot, resign games. And as you can see you didn't resign and your team won, made a good come back, that was cool and big part of the game. The other games that you did resign couldve turned out the same way. When you play a 8 players game you don't get to decide if it's playable or not cuz that effects other players in the game. As you can see how they were surprised, your teammates and mad at you in that game.

I think the same for the Endovelico mod. Things I need to learn to improve this mod: 1- (Some provinces are misplaced when selecting them) Nonsense, it works, but during testing I commented out the code without realizing it.. 2- I believe that at least Central Europe and North Africa should be completed by province, meaning I need to understand how these provinces are created. 3- This mod can be tangentially improved in several ways; I hope that interest in it can lead to significant improvements. For example, I managed to change the background image of the map.

@Perzival12 this thread might also be helpful for campaings in hyrule mod.

Akentas most of what you said is off-topic since we are talking about whether the attached replay was a loss for my team/what is the consensus for resigning early. Also may I remind you, literally in the TG before the one in question I had a good infantry rush opportunity (on you in this case) but I failed in the end with a terrible loss of all army with a similar position as to this game. At which point you taunted me to "resign ?". I didn't resign because I knew the game was still playable and we won in the end. Also your in your screenshot you can see your very talkative friend agree with me and ask how my team could win when his and Saidrdz K/D was so good and how Saidrdz can just go to the other side with champ cav.

@Dunedan @Chasca @Atrik Let me know if there any tools to keep prevent these DDoS or losing my account to brute-force password thing. As a not very technical on this matter dude i am a little paranoid.

Hello! so i guess i gotta clarify and since its a public post people should know what went down and how things turned into this. so First of all, people who regularly play with us know we make rules like banning units, either host or by making polls. so like every game i said i stated rules before the game NO RULES, all allowed multiple times and all agreed. game played out and it was very intense, all players were deep in it. Then diagonalo lost a battle and resigned suddenly. Here is how his team mates and others reacted after his sudden resign attached below. His teammates Decger and i_am_groot was shocked and not happy as u can see. wrote "why i keep letting him play", because this isn't the first time. there were games he will rush and do bad then resign min 4 or 5 wasting other 7 p[layers time. Doing bad is not a problem, team game people helps each other out and its part of the game doing something and failing. In this game, Decger even said "dont let him play" you can see in the ss. After he resigned eric the other team player said he will go afk and we tried to make 3 v3 work but the game, intensity dried out, ruined the game. SO THIS IS THE CONTEST ON THAT GAME. In his screenshots you can see i banned him and told him not to join my game cuz i dont want to waste mine or other players time, just wanna have good game and enjoy my off time. He can also pick and chose who he wants to play with, i dont see how i rage baited him or did something toxic. In that game that moment what he did, i did not like him. And there are some reasons why i banned him and told him not to join my games. Let me explain below this ss with another 2 other ss. So diagonalo had his issue with erictummy everyone knows some market exploit thing some drama on and off. So 2 or 3 days ago, Diagonalo joined a game and said to me he is quitting 0ad because of my toxic friend(i guess meant eric) and left without any explanation or which friend or why telling me. Then after a while he was playing a game then i asked about his quitting and this was his reply below. Then this week diagonalo really did took Erics 2nd account "Banality" and pretended to be eric and was acting weird then eric told me it was him and he also confirmed. So this guy, Diagonalo, Quits game as he wishes in 8 player team games, He says he brute-force passwords and DDoS lobby, stole some ones account, I just personally don't find it very cool. And on top of that, He claims i am rage baiting him, i am toxic. I find it very energy draining and frustrating to deal with this type or people, that's why i told him no to join my game. And to you man, Diagonalo, I am not the center of the world, please leave me alone stop joining my game or make it look like i'm the bad guy and you are the victim. Please enjoy your game time and let me enjoy mine. And to the 0ad community, i don't know how brute-force password or DDoS work, most of the games we played yesterday and today, was lagging and people kept dropping one by one, which doesn't or didn't happen recently, like units were stuck not moving. So, with his words and the game situation sudden crazy lag, please let me know how i can prevent this such attacks. Thank you!

@wraitiiHey man, I hope you're doing well. I've always thought this mod was really cool, and today I decided to try and fix it and its compatibility with 0ad 28. Luckily, after a lot of head-banging and nonsensical Chatgpt responses, I managed to get something playable and error-free. I believe now only some provincial localization issues and things like that remain.

Hello I played a game today in which against commonplace rules where champ cav (and naked fanatics) are banned there were no rules. It turns out Saidrdz with Persia who is one of the best players with this build was going for champ cav. In the first fight we managed to capture the cc of the first player but then we got sorrounded and our army died. This was a terrible fight for us and my pop was very low and while I wasn't quite 0 pop I knew my eco was weak and would likely die in the next 2 minutes. So I decided to resign. What would you have done in my position ? Keep in mind Saidrdz is still spamming champ cav and also I wasn't aware of whether we were winning but in when I watched the replay after it seemed to me the enemy still had potential with Saidrdz and Daky playing cavalry. Next thing you know you get banned. I don't really mind the ban which I think is ok if you resigned too early. Anyway the following are not really on that topic but for context. commands.txt

In Age of Mythology you can command units while paused. I searched for a mod and found this one: https://github.com/lebarde/activepause But he is not compatible with 0.28 Or maybe I can't config. Linux is hard for me. Also in Age of Mythology you can make the mini map big for a moment. It wold be awesome to have a possibility to do that in 0 A.D. In Age of Mythology there is a random map called "Ring of Ice". If someone could make it for 0 A.D. I would be gratefull.

yup, all those errores were fixed, thank u, but... Q.Q there is a feature that is not working in this version, the "easy placement" of buildings (idk what to call it), it used to rotate and find the best location for buildings.

Using those values for the function I proposed (rounding): G(200)=2, G(300)=3, G(400)=4, G(500)=5, G(800)=8. Would seem the behaviour is obvious, but, as expected, G(1000)=10, G(2000)=16, G(3000)=20, G(4000)=22 and G(5000)=24, for example.
