Rough_Nack
What do you "need more" in an rts game ? The multiplayer part or the singleplayerp art with story etc. ?Well ?
Ingold
I vote for single player.I can't play on the Internet so for me MP is practically useless.Except for skirmishes against the computer.
ZeZar
MP no doubt!
Curufinwe
both to me ... I need to practice on SP before playing on MP ...
Mithrandil
Well, because I suck, for me single player is better, but if I wouldn't, both would be important
Aztec_Brave
Single. My connection sucks and my skills suck, so I'm stuck playing single. Beside's most of the fun campaigns are single.
Black Op
Never played online so I vote SP.
Aeros
Both are important Multiplayer definatly makes a game live longer than 6 months, while single player enhances the experiance of a game the most.
Tonto_Icy_Tripod
Multiplayer. Ever since I got good enough to play on the net, I never went back. It's much more than just playing the game to me, it's the chat during the game, and everything around it
DarkAngelBGE
Both are important, but MP is more important in the long-term, so I voted for that.
Phoenix-TheRealDeal
Both... wrt to designing a full featured game because you are not going to know who will prefer one or the other, or do both, as we see in this thread.
King Tutankhamun
I usually have to beat the single player missions first, then I go multiplayer.
chichigrande
Mp is definitly wanted more in game by me. I wouldn't really care if all it was MP and didn't have a SP, as long at I could have all out wars with my friends.
Argalius
I voted for MP, because after a while SP will get bored. And then you want to do this:
AttilaTheHun
MP is waaayyy more important. SP lasts you until you figure out the AI's predictabilities. MP is a totally different story, because you play against people that can think for themselves making their own strategy. I couldn't play a game for very long without a MP. dathui
a game can live long by having really good gameplay, look at the civilization-games. but most games need mp to live longer than the time it takes to play thru the single-campaign. ZeZar
I dont like Civilizations Anyway, MP is important, really important. When you are sick of playing against the same cheating computer, what do you do? Go online... Or if the Singleplayer scn fails you (Like Empires) what do you do? Go online (Which in Empires totally rocked )I will as before vote for MP, if 0ad was only MP i would have downloaded it just as fast as if it was SP...Though i think SP should be in it, because its kind of silly for a new guy to start learning the game while playing against real pros, like i will be you get me i guess
phantom_rider2
SP is important in its own way, but MP makes the game for most games.
fyhuang
Both are equally important. SP is needed to 'build up' your skills, and on games such as SimCity or games with very intricate stories, SP is almost the only option. MP is important too, because human players are definately more skilled and it's a good place to socialize . However, I do lean away from MP because I suck at it, and because I have dial-up. Matei
Multiplayer, unless you guys come up with a really really smart AI . Multiplayer adds so much replay value, because human opponents adapt to whatever you're doing and come up with new strategies that the game designers may never have thought of. Plus, there's the social interaction from playing as a team with a friend, or, for other personality types, the satisfaction of smiting a live opponent .Since 0AD will be a web download, it should be targetted mostly at people that are quite "into" RTS games (the people who post at Heavengames for example), and these are also the people who really like multiplayer. Nawen
Both. Fun to play the different missions on Single Player and also fun to play with friends and meet new friends when playing MultiPlayer
Aeros
Multiplayer, unless you guys come up with a really really smart AIUnreal Tournament has a really smart single player AI that acts almost like a human. Infact if you play online against humans and computers, you won't be able to tell who's a human and who's a comp player. However, in UT I still prefer to play online against real people. It just gives so much more value to what you're doing when you know you've beaten 31 other people rather than 31 fancy computer scripts. Jeru
Single player is more important to me. I originally hail from the scenario designer community, and most scenarios are meant to be played SP, just like a good book is often best read alone. esrever_otua
Definitely Multiplayer; I would play a good RTS even if it didn't have SP, but not if it didn't have MP
Bart133
Without SP, MP doesn't matter as much, but it is a huge asset after SP is already there.
