@ThePoshBarbarian I really like your classification of damage and types, nothing wrong with it. But, it fits more in a tactical RPG squad-based strategy game than classic RTS.

Carthaginian Italian Spearmen merc missing head on Elite rank
Deicide4u replied to Deicide4u's topic in Bug reports
We got undead Italic mercenaries before GTA VI. -
This can be a good middle ground.

Seconded. Otherwise, why even play the game if you want everything to be automated for you?

Captured CCs don't train Civilians of your civ
Deicide4u replied to Deicide4u's topic in Bug reports
As can be seen, they can build a Palace and Pillar of Ashoka is grayed out. I've constructed a Palace, but it can only research Spes. -
I am Iberians in this match. I've captured Maury CCs and they are training Indian Laborers. Screenshot attached.

Set the behavior to "Aggressive", it should attack more often and sooner. Yeah, I was also surprised to see that many units. Crossbowmen destroyed me. EDIT: Here is one for the revenge. What changed, is I increased the average batch size of units, to keep resources low. PersiaVSRome.zip

It's rather frustrating, even for not so new players. I just lost the last two matches against Medium AI. This new AI doesn't leave room for mistakes. Pretty depressing when you look back at the last hour and realize you just wasted it because none of your old tactics work. And I didn't get to have fun, either. Don't know, I'm on the fence here. On one hand, I need to improve in order to just beat the default AI. On the other, the AI now requires knowing the competitive meta in order for you to stand a chance. Here is the last match, for what it's worth. RomansVS_MAI.zip

Batch Training (The Good, The Bad and The Ugly)
Deicide4u replied to Micfild's topic in Gameplay Discussion
@DesertRose What if one decides to play without batches? How effective would that be? I imagine you would need to build additional training buildings sooner. -
Funny Relevant Videos and Memery
Deicide4u replied to wowgetoffyourcellphone's topic in Introductions & Off-Topic Discussion
No, you're not. But, "hate" isn't the word I'd use. More like, annoyed. I mean, your nation can have nice, feel good myths and legends about female empowerment (just look at the French who worship Joan of Arc, but almost forget about all those brilliant military generals who supported her). But, those myths are often overblown, as myths and legends do tend to be. -
For R29, my final suggestion would be Canaan

What Should New Players Know When Starting This Game?
Deicide4u replied to onghyr's topic in General Discussion
0 A.D. also has auto-train feature. It's marked by an infinity sign in the status panel when you select a production building. Clicking on that after you set your queue will automatically produce the queued units, as long as you have enough resources. It can help you in the mid game if you struggle with keeping up with macro. -

0ad/replays/0.28.0/some_folder should work. Are the replays compatible with your version of the game? You need to have the same mods enabled as the person whose replay you intend to watch.

Honestly, I'm all for quality maps. Random maps are sometimes too random, other times they just feel the same as the previous game. Having more Skirmish maps would be best, IMHO.

You can block mace and axe attacks using a shield, but you can't really block the axe attack using your sword. By this logic, mace is a pierce weapon and axe is both a pierce and crush weapon. See how complicated this can get? Compare that to the following hypothetical situation: All melee units have a standard "Melee" attack type. All ranged units have standard "Ranged/Pierce" attack type. All siege weapons have standard "Siege/Crush" attack type. Units can have more than one attack type, which allows elephants and other specialized units to deal some Siege damage. Unit resistances are now scaled based on how they fare against certain attack types. So, a Hoplite can have high Pierce resistance and average Melee resistance. Swordsman will have higher Melee resistance, but he is weaker against Ranged attacks. Unless he is a Roman with a very large Scutum (thus, Romans naturally have better swordsmen). Immortals, being without big shields, can have high Melee resistance, but lower Ranged resistance, etc.

Same. However, offending people deliberately and expecting no punishment for it strange. If a player targets the other player's racial, ethnic or religious background, that player should be punished. Of course, we don't have to go to extremes and punish people for saying the f-word or just calling other people idiots in a heated context.

@Tapothei It's actually funny how you can just mass hundreds of units and capture full HP CCs and Fortresses without any siege. Maybe I just prefer destruction
-
For better or worse, capture mechanic is here to stay. You can capture buildings that are not in your territory, but they will decay to Gaia over time. Unless you leave enough units inside when you capture it.

How were the units in the Civic Center chosen?
Deicide4u replied to DesertRose's topic in General Discussion
They represent more or less basic units for each civilization. There is also a balance consideration of which units are available.- 1 reply

@DesertRose, they have better base gather rates for their workers, which makes them faster. Maybe they also amass larger armies, but I'm not sure if that is true with this release. Medium AI is the only "fair" difficulty where the AI gets no resource advantages or disadvantages. Otherwise, it's not smarter.
-
Please share your replays against the AI here. Here's a couple from me. AI difficulty is Medium, but it feels more difficult to beat than even Hard AI from A27. As usual, there's a lot of floating resources around CarthageVSPersia_M.zip RomeVS_Sparta_M.zip

Civilians gather food better and wood somewhat slower than CS. My tech idea doesn't affect food and wood gather rates. It allows players to rely on civilians in the late game to gather stone and metal at equal or greater rates than using soldiers. While you already can use civilians to gather metal (and send all your CS to fight), it is not as efficient as leaving ~24 CS in your base to gather metal while you fight. You would typically try to maximize metal gathering for champions or upgrades, that's why I left stone out.

It's a general technology not unique to any civilization. So, yes.
