  1. @Angga Hermawan Are you creating stories out of a normal game? Now THAT'S some scripting talent, there!
  2. I don't know, but basing on the posted replays and my own casual games against the AI, there's just some things I find intuitive about the percentage bonuses: Quality vs. Quantity - I believe that the Citizen Soldiers'strength in numbers can make up for their weakness in damage bonus. This is base-stat (no level up) argument for now. Yeah, there's a champion that had its attack raised to 220. But did you consider putting him against 2 units x 110? How about 3 units x 110? This is emphasized on Point 3, but how fast can you spam out 110-damage units vs 220-damage units? Benefit of Phasing Up - It might not be worth it putting the effort of phasing up and then building structures so that I could train champions if the aura bonus isn't that significant. For me, Percentage buffs to widen the gap is one of the key factors that separate a player who is in Phase III from the one who needs to catch up. Asides from Fortresses and Siege Weapons, I won't think it's worth the effort of reaching Phase III if the damage gap isn't widened. Train Time - Even if we grant the aura buffs are too wide between units, you must consider if you're willing to wait for them getting trained. I believe this is one of the developers' best decisions in balancing out the champions. Even I don't see myself spamming them out as much as before because the long train time. How could I make an emergency defense if these units take SO LONG to train?! Economy Bonus - I'm assuming that this bonus issue is specifically for the military, and not for the economy (gathering/mining/trading/population). But this is the part that makes percentage bonuses intuitive for me. If the military bonuses should be static, then shouldn't the economic bonuses should be as well? I'm quite happy with the current (%) bonus system. It's these rush strategies that I find scary. I even tried the Gaellic Slinger Rush against Hardest Petra, and I was like "Who needs siege engines and towers if I have these bad boys?"
  3. @jonbaer I'll summarize what I think of Empires Apart. I love it because it tries to bring the old-school "Age of Empires" style game into the modern era of games. I hate it because it's a competition to 0 A.D. ... specifically on the Open Source vs. Proprietary Development Models.
  4. Two comments about this game: Without Tributes, the player who gets his Civic Center knocked out early is next to useless. The Trading Dock was the only team benefit I could see. I'm seeing now that the Slingers' Crush Damage is the defining attribute that is making it OP in large numbers. Is lowering their rate of fire a good suggestion?
  5. The lower right part of the GUI. You can see Upgrade/Tech Icons when you select structures. Make sure that the requirements for the techs/upgrades are met.
  6. I kind of agree with this. One axe added to the storehouse for each "Axe Upgrade" for example.
  7. I just remembered. Home Gardens is one of my favorite universal techs, and I want to keep it that way. Still, I hope these apartments will find their place the game.
  8. @Juli51 Nah. That concept would ruin game balance. And there was a decision not to visually change a structure in-game unless you're upgrading it (Sentry Tower -> Defense Tower). But, who knows. Given enough time and effort, maybe your suggestion might become a reality... except when giving players the ability to build Fortresses on Phase 1.

    Them Them

Pike Infantry is available to Epirotes. Who's that?
  10. So, let's see: borg- is one of the players who you don't want to build a 2nd CC. Vercengetorix_ likes Carthage (just my assumption). Fire Ships make naval warfare exciting. And I'm just here with my popcorn and soda. Oh please keep 'em coming!
  11. @MrHammy Mint 18's base is Ubuntu 16.04. So it doesn't share Mint 17's build problem.
  12. The City-phase Market - Yeah I know. I can dream all I want.
  13. The base of Mint 17.x is Ubuntu 14.04. The broken 0 A.D. build is one of the release blockers that the developers decided to skip when releasing Alpha 21. Upgrading Mint is the most recommended solution. I didn't think that this particular defect would raise its ugly horns like this. I even had to address a similar complaint in the Mint Forums.
  14. Because of this thread I have come to love watching replays. But as an observer, I would love to know what a structure is currently producing/upgrading without clicking on it. Just to know what the strong players prefer to produce, what to upgrade, when to upgrade them, etc. I suggest that it should look like this (I can immediately see the player producing 10 women without clicking on the Civic Center):
  15. In this forum it doesn't. I just don't like Youtube confusing 0 A.D. the game with "Zero Ad(vertisements)".
  16. I was about to share your video here when I saw it. A bit rough on the camera movements and English grammar, but I'm looking forward for your content to mature. It's still a good script. Thank you for the effort on the English translations.
  17. Vulcan - The Roman god of fire and smithing. For our mesh smiths, and (since fire destroys) giving levels of destruction. Vista - I'm expecting a lot of eye-candy "to view" on this next Alpha... Even the menu has new backgrounds. I just hope that Microsoft didn't patent the name. Personally, it's very difficult to find non-Roman related things since not even Greek has a real "v" in its alphabet.
  18. Breaking News: Remains of Carthaginian Buildings Found! Rome would've been disappointed.
  19. Maybe the smiles (even on the horse) are too big.
  20. There goes my Varus and Vesuvius. XD
  21. About that. The discussion seems to revolve around written language. How about the spoken one? For example, there's debate on how Julius Caesar pronounced "Vici". Was it "vichy", or "vicky", or another variation that English has trouble putting into paper? The game seems to use the Erasmian pronunciation system. But, is there a way to know how the ancient Greeks REALLY pronounced their words?
