  5. So the argument isn't for the REMOVAL of the feature, but for which should be the DEFAULT. I'm going with the devs' decision on this for now, since I happen to like it. Archers aren't realistically used for taking down buildings. Siege Weapons are used for that. So the Capturing mechanic makes sense to me. I might consider voting for Attack-by-Default when Beta comes out... by that time, many people already know of the feature. But if I want an argument for it: make soldiers attack by default and then provide in the FAQ if people want to know "How do you capture buildings?". Sound fair enough?
  6. 2 - No, I meant that FORMATIONS are broken. That means that putting your units in formation doesn't improve any of their attributes (attack/defense). But when it comes to unit imbalance, pleae provide the specifc unots in question. For all weknow you must've sent 3 skirmishers against 2 spearmen... Or even against champion u its. 6 - It's part of the game to catch up when you're behind in technology. Either you employ a Rush Strategy (and get the exp that you wanted) or choose between quantity (producing more units) vs. quality (Blacksmith techs). 8 - You're not the first to comment about the Citizen Soldiers. It's one of the features that make 0 A.D. unique from other RTSs, so I want to keep it. The Tech on Women can be found in the House (The Loom). I'm not sure about the comment on "adding scouts" since there are horsemen already.
  7. I made a similar question once, but it was about AppImage. The real benefit I could see is that if I have an Internet Cafe filled with Linux machines, then I could just download 0 A.D. once and just slap it anywhere rather than download it for each machine. But I'm just settling on 0 A.D.'s DEB files for a workaround: download once, install in every Xenial Machine.
  8. Capturing was nerfed because it was too strong in the previous Alphas. The lower the health of a tower, the easier it is to capture... No matter how many soliders are in it. That's why Siege Weapons play a more important role in Capturing/Destroying buildings.
  9. 1 - I believe that charging (and trampling) mechanics are being planned. 2 - Ctrl + 1 3 - I have no problem with unit imbalances unless the difference is too significant to ignore. You might want to specify which Roman units you were using and what Persian units you were fighting against. Also, formations are broken (I think we have found another FAQ). 4 - I agree with this one. Maybe the towers should shoot arrows the same way the warships currently do? 5 - Dunno about this. More like a TBS mechanic. :-P 6 - Units chaning appearance is part of the level-up mechanic. 7 - Eye Candy suggested 8 - Women generally can't build military structures. They can only help. 9 & 10 - Suggestions that I can't comment upon.
  10. Yeah, but you have to disable me from building Mauryan structures when I convert Mauryan units for example. But for now, those sarissas still look weird standing up like that.
  11. I didn't mind when I was gained 2 subscibers, but I didn't know it would hurt me when I lost one. Do Youtubers really get this kind of feeling... even for JUST ONE?
  12. These are two separate issues, but I'll just post them in one. Please tell me you're no longer planning to implement this... even for 2000 Metal. This is just me. Capturing structures is fine, but converting units isn't. I really hate those... to think that Rome is strong enough already. I didn't notice that some death animations can't properly handle all kinds of props... until it came to those long pikes.
  13. Formations are currently broken. What you've experienced also happens to ground units... units with ellipse-shaped hitboxes (e.g. boats and ships) are the most prone to getting stuck.

  16. This is a good idea. But on the programming side, it could mess everything up. Alpha 21 had a Release Blocker that would make you train units that you you're not supposed to. In effect, you get to build things more than what your faction has.
  17. Let's be honest and say that Empires Apart is 0 A.D.'s proprietary twin brother... which makes me think of 0 B.C. Isn't that the sister project?
