Civ: Indians (Mauryans)
wowgetoffyourcellphone replied to wowgetoffyourcellphone's topic in Delenda Est
I honestly like the idea of different types of catafalques/relics for each faction and/or map biome. In AOM, each match had 2-3 different relics with different names and effects on the map that you could pick up with your heroes. So, in 0 A.D., any India themed or biomed map could have 2-3 capturable catafalques (if enabled in setup), each with different effects. Similar for any Greek-themed map, Celtic themed map, etc. If we went that far though, I'd want to rebalance some of the catafalques. Some of their current effects are quite hefty. But any chance to pack in more history and culture, I'm all for it. -

I can't convey how long it took to get the AI to output something that looked like the Alexander references we have. Instead of "generic Western European bro", like the algorithm kept trying to give me:

These are definitely for the UI. It's just very difficult to get accurate characters wielding accurate weaponry.

Civ: Ptolemaic Egyptians
wowgetoffyourcellphone replied to wowgetoffyourcellphone's topic in Delenda Est
Yeah, that's what I mean. While "Father Loving" is the most "accurate" translation, "Father Honoring" seems more in-line with context. But yeah, the original "Philopater" and "Soter" etc. might just be easier to go with. -

wowgetoffyourcellphone replied to wowgetoffyourcellphone's topic in Delenda Est
Yeah, so I felt it was a bit redundant to have two heroes in a row with the same epithet. I think "Philopater" loses something in the translation to English for sure ("Father Loving"), and is a bit awkward. Do you think "Father Honoring" sounds better? Yeah, AI. Whatyagonnado? The ancient and Renaissance sculptors sometimes added unrealistic musculature to their male figures, so I'll go with that. -
