  1. In that case, I think Antesignanus is the way to go. I'd just need to reduce their body armor even further. Here's how they look when I had Lanciarii in mind: The "Marian Reforms" ones were the blue, but for Antesignani I think all I'd need to do is give them a tunic instead of submarlis.
  2. Indeed, I once had the notion of a <MaxAttackers> element in the templates. Maybe... <MaxAttackers> <Melee>8</Melee> <Ranged>10</Ranged> </MaxAttackers> So that if more than 10 ranged units target this unit the excess will seek out a different target. Similar to how resources have max gatherers.
  3. His pronunciation of just about everything in the game makes me wince. lol But, still a good player and good cast.
  4. Latest version of the game includes differentiation for cataphracts and chariots, but I agree it does not go far enough. We need trample component and secondary attacks.
  5. Maybe, but I wanted to make realistic first, then turn them into an illustration.
  6. There are some synthetic voices in DE already. Carthaginians, Han, and (something else, I forget, lol). They are not perfect. The Carthage voices sound synthetic and not natural, for example. There is a thread on this forum about it.
  7. The article I posted makes the same point though. Using an idealized view of Sparta for political or philosophical reasons.
  8. It's because it's talking about the modern idealization of Sparta
  9. I think the point of the articles is that mythology omits large portions of Spartan culture and history and is probably not something we should emulate in modern times.

  11. https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2024/01/sparta-300-warriors-history-slavery.html A good write up addressing the modern obsession with Sparta.
  12. Y'all act like this hasn't been solved in like 100 other games, the most applicable being AOE2, which has non-random fire and does not "break" the game.
  13. I would like this, actually. Random arrows by default, overridden by the player to target a desired enemy unit until it is dead or out of range, then it's back to random until it's retargeted by the player.
