  1. Based on my 4-5 years of experience playing 0 A.D., I have noticed that many players are either overrated or underrated, with some claiming their skill level is higher than it actually is. To address this, I propose the following ladder to categorize players' levels: Iron Level (1200 or below): These players are beginners with limited experience in the game. They are still learning the mechanics, and progressing beyond this level may take a few months to several years, depending on the player. Bronze Level (1200–1500): Players at this level excel at booming but are weak in combat and often struggle against rushers. Many prefer defensive playstyles and are not as active in offensive strategies. Silver Level (1500–1700): These players are "eco-bots" with excellent economic skills and strong armies. However, they rarely rush and lack proficiency in advanced rushing tactics. When they do rush, it is often infantry-based. They primarily prefer playing on mainland maps and are less skilled on low-resource maps. Additionally, they are vulnerable to early attacks. Golden Level (1700–1900): These players are aggressive and knowledgeable about rushing strategies. They excel at disrupting the economy of silver-level players and often dominate early engagements. Diamond Level (1900+): These players are highly creative, capable of devising new strategies for both combat and economy. They often serve as role models, with others learning from their gameplay. In my opinion, among last year’s active players, only Vali, Borg, and Vinme belong to this elite level. Note on Cheating: Some players use tools like ProGUI auto-train, hacked auto-civilization selection, or multi-click mice. While some may argue these are not cheats, in my view, anything that provides an unfair advantage is cheating. These tools can artificially elevate a player's level. For example, a bronze-level player using cheats might appear to be at the silver level. Therefore, players using such tools should be demoted by one level in their ranking.

  2. I was just passing by to share with the community that I'm having a few tough months with a lot of work and personal issues, and I'm not able to even connect to chat with you for a while. But I've noticed that lately as a community we're going through difficult times that at least I've never witnessed. This is an excellent project that has come a long way and the few active developers are making a great effort to sustain it. I've read some posts on the forum lately that have made me think about the frustration that some players may feel, and I think that, if this game and this community didn't mean something to those people, they wouldn't have the desire to share it here on the forum. Even if what they share are negative things about their feelings towards the game, it's more than likely that they do it because of the love they feel for it. Here we often say: it is in difficult times that we see the miseries of each one and also where effort is most important. It's not normal for a development like this to last so many years in the current context of the gaming industry and hyper-connected modernity. I send a big hug to everyone, even those who look at me badly for being a noob, haha Don't give up. I look forward to 27 =) PS: Here are some photos from my summer season =)

  3. It's working... Jan 6. Spanish: Saludos cordiales! Translation: Greetings! Given the flurry of news about the 0AD game, I decided to try to test with flatpak, but it turns out that the game is in the same version or almost the same as in my debian stable. Is it possible that there are more 'modern' flatpak repositories? or should I compile the game from source to see what's new? https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1BRaY2V9GZ/

  4. I'd use the small bushes then. Also, at that angle of slope, I doubt you'd see grasses like that. One thing I encourage you to do from a map design standpoint, is to think about playability and how maps should look from a video game's point of view. So, the super steep mountain sides from reality aren't so good for an RTS game. Think about using "cliffs" as map features instead of mountains, and to add dimensionality, try some nice rolling hills.

  11. You seem to have a very aggressive personality... Just to clarify, I do not wish that you would be "expelled" or "kicked out" I dont even have a problem with you. Bur maybe think about what you write before you send it a bit more. For example, what was the purpose of your first message in this thread? Who could benefit from what you wrote? You were just toxic and destructive (as opposed to constructive). Also, did you just try to threaten me? Because I pointed out your hypocrisy regarding good manners? That will surely convince everyone of your values...

  12. Ah, if that's your interpretation of wang_weis message, I can understand your reaction a lot more. I don't think he blamed "the game", though? He mainly attacked the playerbase, claiming its full of losers, smurfs and people that dont understand the game. I guess the part where he says the people are only here because they cant afford better games is an attack on the game... But I highly doubt thats why hes leaving or even an actual argument hes making. Lastly, how can you voice your dissatisfaction about being lost just after proudly announcing that you when someone calls you out for your bad manners?

  13. Missing a few years ago and old players. Our time was spent having fun, without personal attacks or anything like that. I've been online since the first lobby, where there were a maximum of 10 players, and I've been present in all subsequent versions, and I can say with certainty that this is the worst generation of players 0 AD. You've managed to divide a super small community into small groups that hate each other. Moderation was never necessary for things to go according to the rules, the fact now is that most of you are rude and can't follow the minimum required conduct. Anyway... I won't go on here, I don't usually share this type of topic, but I thought it was necessary this time. Hugs to everyone and a great year ahead.

  14. Hello everyone, Today I would like to share a project that's been in the back of my mind for a while. Sharing replays has always been a mess and annoying and I wanted to address that a bit by providing a centralized address so that all replays you want to share can be uploaded there. I made a proof of concept Using Svelte & Fastify and it's now using React instead of Svelte. I'd like to hear your feedbacks about what you'd want the UI to look like, what filters would you like to see etc, details about the match (we don't have the possibility to get all the info) Here are some screenshots (Keep in mind the layout isn't set in stone, just wanted to have a convenient way to test things out) For security reasons there will be no direct upload button there if it gets online. You'll need to be approved by me or another administrator first. One can upload a zip containing a replays or containing multiple folders with replays, or just the commands.txt or the commands.txt and the metadata.json. There is no e-mail confirmation. 15. Feature is now live This would add a significant size increase. In the replay above, it does it in loop, so garrison ungarison, garrison ungarrison and so on... Technically it's doing something ^^

  16. What purpose does this post serve? I mean, I guess its a nice idea, but what am I supposed to do with this? Also, do your distinctions even apply to 4v4 teamgames? Most of the time it's just the best play to go for a defensive eco-bot tactic, because thats just the strongest tactic in 0ad at the moment. So anyone that makes use of the tactic that has the highest probability of success is silver? Also, what do I do, now that I know King Reza The Great declared me as silver? Should I put that as a custom suffix? Well, my comment may come off as more combatative than intended; you are absolutely correct; the ratings are a very bad indicator of actual skill. But if you want a better way to rank players, why not think about how a mod could process the post-game statistics to calculate a better rating (like local rating is doing, but using better logic). If you manage to decipher which of your skill groups a player belongs to just by looking at the stats, it should be possible to create a mod that can do that aswell, which would be a significant improvement to localratings and ratings as a whole!

  18. Y? I am not politically correct, believe me, I can be worse. I don't even know who he was, it's obvious that he's upset and that he did something wrong. And if he didn't do it, he shouldn't have gotten so angry. I can vent to people, not to the project. I wasn't even upset. I was just discrediting a game, but a game is dreams and fun and someone else's work.
