  1. Hello everyone, This is an update on the progress of the Alpha 27 release. After extensive deliberation, the team has decided to abort the release process for the foreseeable future. As some of you know, we've been in a "feature freeze" for the past 3 months. This period, during which we halt all new code merging except for crucial bug fixes, is typically a final step before a release. Unfortunately, progress on the release has been slower than anticipated, and Alpha 27 is still several weeks away. Some of the outstanding issues include: Acquiring the necessary macOS certificates for signing the packages Completing the trailer for the announcement, and finishing the announcement itself More testing is potentially needed, and some important bug fixes are not yet merged. The balance of A27 has not been extensively tested and refined. The time it takes to actually release (uploading packages, informing maintainers, etc.) is potentially more than any of the team can commit to right now. Our current pace on these matters is unsustainable. Following a vote, we have chosen to abort the release and refocus. This decision wasn't made lightly, but we believe it's in the best interest of 0 A.D.'s long-term health. We will use this time to: Merge improvements that have been developed during the feature freeze, such as optimizations and further fixes. Identify and address the issues that have hindered the current release process, as we cannot hope to release in the future without fixing them. We will likely come back to the community with more information on this last point and potentially requests for help. We realize that this news may be disappointing. We thank you for your patience, understanding, and ongoing support. On behalf of everyone at Wildfire Games, Wraitii

  2. This is a list of GUI - related mods, each with a specific purpose. You can choose the ones you need and avoid the changes that you find ugly. All of these are lobby compatible and also compatible with both A26 and A27. You may use them in conjunction with Autociv, BoonGUI and any other GUI related mods. The titles are quite self-explanatory; betterfauna colours all edible animals pink, all hostile animals red. This can be very helpful at spotting hunt and avoiding dangerous gaia. darkmode turns the grass ground to a dark grey colour to protect your eyes and reduce distraction. It is very important on snowy maps. goldenprojectiles enlarges the size of projectiles and colour them gold so you can see exactly where the arrows are flying and where they are landing. This can be useful for some high level players @vinme largericons makes the training and formation icons larger and redesigns the bottom panels to accommodate 1080p or larger screens. The icons in the bottom panel of vanilla 0ad is very small because Stan has to cram more and more unit variety into the same panel which is designed for 1024x768 screens. loudsound is necessary because the projectile sounds in A25 and later is too quiet and it's easy to miss a sneaky attack. This mod restores A23 slinger and javelin throw sound effects and some more! rangedoverlay displays the maximum reachable range of your ranged unit so you know where to position them safely. You can disable the overlay with one button in settings page. Shavedtrees makes the trees look like purple cuboids and simplifies the berries. it massively reduces lag by decreasing polygon counts. Anyone with non-beefy GPUs and CPUs should consider trying this mod to boost your frame rate by more than 100FPS! @leopard you will need this. Finally. visible mines is for those of you who can't distinguish between the very similar-looking metal mines and stone mines. Just install the component that you want to use. I would recommend using all of them but some of you might value artistic beauty over micro efficiency. These are compatible with A27 and A28, also backwards compatible. However, some were designed for A27 so you might see a few false warnings when you try to run it in A26. Just ignore the error messages, it's always due to the new materials being implemented in A27 that are not yet available. betterfauna.pyromod darkmode.pyromod goldenprojectiles.pyromod largericons.pyromod loudsound.pyromod rangedoverlay.pyromod shavedtrees.pyromod visiblemines.pyromod

  3. Thanks for clarifying. It's better to postpone than a bad release.

  4. I personally use a complete overhaul of the GUI with all these features enabled and some more, all in one mod. I am willing to share it with you both versions: they are based on nani's autociv. The main theme has been remade into Honkai Impact style.

  7. https://www.britannica.com/topic/Yamato-Takeru This is the only info I can find on this guy. He seems to be Any other information? I'm not against using folk heroes when there is a dearth of other historical options. His Wiki: https://www.wikiwand.com/en/Yamato_Takeru, which gives a bit more detail.

  8. I support this decision. As for balancing, there is not a whole lot changed, so it shouldn't be too hard. Some things to consider: Check how the ele nerf turned out. consider removing elephant friendly fire. catapults overnerfed? if so, consider adding a small splash radius of 1 or 2 meters. depending on timing, maybe it would be worthwhile to consider @borg-'s updated sparta patch for a27?

  9. India before activating shaved trees: my PC running at 48fps since the beginning ] India after shavedtrees and dark ground: 143FPS! The fps is already nerfed by the screen capture software; it was running at 170FPS on average and occasionally reaching 200+ fps! This is a whole 100fps improvement! @leopard @MarcusAureliu#s no more lag on your stream!

  10. How about a smurf championship with a prize pool of $50? Each would create a smurf account in the game (with @Stan` permission). A person, in this case you @DerekO, is responsible through private messages about nicknames of the players, only you would know who each nick belongs to. Players wouldn't know who they're playing against and specs must guess who's who based on style and skills.

  11. @andy5995, just a random thought, might be a case of snap curl vs apt curl.

  12. Militia Axeman (Onodukapi/Onozukai), Axeman Citizen Jōmon Slinger (Isinagë/Ishinage; literally stone throwing, any better name like Tabute/Tsubute?), Slinger Citizen Revised Hero Breakdown (all choose the 3 to be recruited in Civic Center, rest can be for Scenario/Herocide): Jimmu (Kamuyamatö Iparebiko/Kan'yamato Iwarebiko), Archer Hero Keikō (Opotarasipiko Osiröwakë/Ōtarashihiko Oshirowake), Archer/Swordsman Hero? Ousu/Yamato Takeru (Wousu, Yamatötakëru), Swordsman Hero Jingū (Okinagatarasi/Okinagatarashi), Swordsman Heroine Himiko (Pimiko), Healer Heroine "Jinmu" and "Jimmu" spellings are correct, but let's leave it to the modder. Suishō or one of the above not used can be a catafalque unit. Kofun can be a separate faction, thanks for the advice. Will wait for Part 2/Delenda Est proposal(s). Can the chashi be an embassy for Ainu/Emishi mercenaries? They could be an Atlas mini-faction. Ainu Mercenary Spearman Ainu Priest Chief ("priest" that can also have a damage boost for nearby units) Ainu Champion Mercenary Two-Handed Swordsman?
