  1. Almost always have been (10 years ago) #1960 ([PATCH] Elevation advantage for ranged units) – Wildfire Games

  2. Relevant suggestion, but ... Even though the comment section of both sites is synchronized, I found it a bit enerving, to have to search for it and to have to realize they are both the same. I would have appreciated an URL. Here for everyone else: https://www.moddb.com/games/0-ad and https://www.indiedb.com/games/0-ad per above: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cDcSXqlDcbA&lc=UgyAAw44faDgLNCEpbx4AaABAg (comment is highlighted)

  4. They have bonus range because the windows are x meters above the ground. Its default value defined in templates. Also note thats not flat number but calculated by parabolic arch depending on window high (template value)

  5. 0 A.D take the history in your hands! I wish: More technologies for early and second phase. more cultural and religious background.(Bonus in stats and HP, XP). More units. new sub classes. ( Differentiate units with little armor and with a lot of armor) More maps. More interactive things for maps. New modes. (sacred Sites) More differentiated factions. (assymetrical) More strategies. More Eyecandy More Zoom. New GUI Features. New Gameplay Features: new mechanics. people always ask for more factions from the mods.

  7. Well there hasn't been any significant change in the AI in the past five years (other than the emergency manager) so that's why I suppose. I guess you might wanna look at the diplomacy manager in simulation/ai/petra/

  8. Also covers the user provided mod case, where one doesn't want to go through mod.io for other concern yet still wants to have a preview image.

  9. An image can be packaged into the mod as well, no need to fetch it from somewhere else. If the mod is signed so is a bundled image. This covers the mod selector. So this leaves what to do about a mod.io browser, relying on mod.io having the necessary tools and report mechanisms sounds good enough for now.

  12. Another suggestion: in view of all the efforts to balance the different civilizations present in the game and the eternal dissatisfaction of some players, since they have different expectations due to their "game style", my suggestion is that there be the possibility of choosing "balance profiles" in the GUI of 0 a.D. The game could, in all its future versions, always seek a balance between civilizations, but at the same time offer the option of using other adjustment sheets, including the much-loved configuration of 0 a.D 0.23. From what I understand, these tweaks are like numbers in a spreadsheet, so it doesn't seem like a challenge to me to allow players to able to choose between some "balance styles", such: balanced play, more aggressive play, more AoE style play, and so on.

  13. By the way, I did a mod a while ago (50% slower fire rate, iirc) to test that and I really didn't see an improvement.

  16. I suggest that conquered buildings show the flag of the conqueror, not that of the builder.

  17. Shocking discovery: the Gymnasion doesn't have an "occupied" flag. When it gets one of course it would be cool if it showed the banner of the current owner, not the original builder.

  18. I believe they have a bigger hit box. One more thing to their disadvantage.

  19. Given how toxic the chat becomes, I'm pretty sure it would be way worse with vocal chat.

  20. My idea. Let's keep it simple, shall we? To differentiate the Epilektos from other champion spearmen, let's make them have -1 all armor types, but +10% speed, +20% attack range, and +10% attack. I can make a slightly longer hoplite spear for them and also resize a smaller aspis for them. I don't think a champion needs to necessarily look more armored than an elite citizen unit, especially since if they historically did not necessarily wear more armor. If you want to change the name, then I am open. In the old days we had to make it simple, and the "Ekdromos" didn't seem like a good fit for a champion, hence the genesis of the Epilektos (and the Marine) which combined the aspects of the Picked Hoplite and Iphicratean reforms.

  21. Elite Infantry Spearman on the left; Epilektos Champion Spearman on the right.

  22. About the Athenian champions, here are my ideas: Hoplite Champion Epilektos is a good name, IMHO, but I agree that "City Guard" seems much too generic and not very accurate to the Greek word. A Logades was more of an officer or something, right? Regardless, I don't think the Athenians need a specific analogue to the Spartiate. The Spartiate should be the heaviest infantry in the game. A Logades for the Athenians would just feel like Spartiate-lite. Iphicratean Reforms IMHO, should be a special tech that reduces armor of your infantry, but increases their speed and maybe range (melee). Put it early, at Town or even possibly Village, so the player can make the choice, "Do I want faster infantry for raiding or heavier infantry for slugfests?" Marines I feel like these should just be a "bonus" for Athens on water maps. Part of their suite of Naval bonuses. Training from ships feels weird to me. I'd prefer trained from the Dock. I wish this could be something special, like training a batch of mixed troops: light swordsmen, dudes with naval pikes, archers, etc. There is a patch for this. @Freagarach Cretan Archers Just make them a merc trainable from the Barracks.

  23. when we have the patch for 2 types of attacks (secondary attack) it will no longer be necessary.
