  1. Sometimes I feel like calling it free to play seems to imply there is something to pay anyway :P, maybe the lag is the price.

  2. I haven't seen it posted on the forums, and I thought the devs should know.

  5. I think the reason might be, even though Petra has gathered resources, it does not know how to spend it properly. Therefore, we need to tweak other parameters in the attack plan.js and buildplan.js and config.js Another thing is, if you decrease the build time for the AI that will allow it to boom a lot faster.

  6. AFAIK, max. zoom is higher ("infinite") in Atlas editor than in 0ad. Can it be increased for the latter? Where would I find code for this? I'm never able during gameplay to look her into her beautiful eyes.

  7. What 0AD lacks is the possibilty to simply load a match. That way the crashed games would not be totally destroyed but they could at least be loaded. It would not solve the issue completely but if we assume that people are behind the "ddosing" it could demotivate them a bit, maybe.

  8. Yea, it is getting pretty consistent. It's like they know when we are having a good time.

  9. Playing the Athenians, finally got a stalemate. Successfully killed elephants. End score favored the AI, but they were not able to get inside my defenses. I was slowly expanding my controlled territory. Called it quits when the dinner bell rang.

  10. zoom.min = 50.0 Is what you are interested in. Zoom max is dezooming not zooming in. https://github.com/0ad/0ad/blob/master/binaries/data/config/default.cfg#L565

  12. I think you need the semi-colon sign at the end of each line. If it still doesn't work, maybe insert the local.cfg at where you found default.cfg (0ad/binaries/config)

  14. I believe for linux, it is at: ~/.config/0ad/config/ For windows, Appdata/local/0ad/config or Appdata/roaming/0ad/config (Again, I haven't used windows in a long time so I don't know for sure, but if I remember correctly they were in appdata) You need to create the file by yourself. It is not included by default.

  15. Trusting people to try their best is certainly good. Trusting people are born fully fledged coders and knowledgeable of the ins and outs of the project is bound to not work. The first thing about git is branches are very cheap, commits are very cheap. To test or review I don't need anything committed to master to reduce workload, so there is no need to commit anything to master either. At one point you will have to look at what was done either way, so commits to master can't reduce your workload only increase it unless you don't care about the master branch in the first place. Anyway good to run into such issues now, so you can ponder a workflow for in case of migration.

  16. Well from the height of the map depends on how much of the bottom of the sky you'll see. So yes, it's definitely suboptimal, and the in the worst case terrible.

  17. Yes you can. You can create a local.cfg in your config folder. Then type in zoom.max = 500; Or max.zoom = 500; (Sorry I can't remember which one exactly, just try both and see if one works)

  20. Those are the only two occurences of that sprite. Not sure where you found it in modmod.xml.

  21. Yeah, but spread the trust between many people. Checks and balances. Nothing gets committed (to main) without review of someone. More eyes are always better.

  22. Well yeah. I tend to trust people. But I shouldn't. I hoped stuff could work without micromanagement.

  25. Isn't that the reason for the git-flow and branch logic? Nothing makes it into the main branch without review. @Ceres the github repo: https://github.com/0ADMods/han_china

  26. No there have been so many changes in the mod that I can't keep track. Some of them were good and the others were pretty weird or bad.

  29. To reply the post "Balancing the Han civ for A26" Cant reply to the balancing thread like above. Han dynasty often use "戟Jǐ" (English translation as polearm/halberd) which makes them develop "手戟 shou ji" (hand halberd for direct translation), weapon for melee or throwing which became very popular during the late Han "three dynasty" period as most of these weapon were recorded on 《三国志》san guo zhi. Another weapon which very similar to javelin is "鋋chán" used in melee and throwing, but clear evidence for its used as javelin were very had to find....so I will just skip it on here. So, for the mid rage unit I am agree with @wowgetoffyourcellphone using the crossbow. Like other civ, javelin and sling are usually one of the starting infantry (mid rage citizen solder). For a normal crossbow could be easily used by citizen compared a bow which need much more training. For the question: "4. Switching champions - a fun idea, but might be a bit too expensive to unlock" Would it possible to make the second weapon unlocked by "gaining exp/ ranking up" through dealing damage and garrison in barrack/fortress/tower/town hall ?

  30. Since I can't post in the balance thread about this: The Chinese had sling staffs in the 900s but that is probably too late. There is documentation of javelins in extensive use(30000 soldiers in an army with 30k crossbows) as far back as 600 during the Sui invasion of Goguryeo I believe the 3 Kingdoms exhibit at the Tokyo national museum had what they claimed was a Han Dynasty javelin but I can't read kanji so I dunno their legitimacy.

  32. If you see an elephant coming, send a few spearmen (10 should be enough) forward to block its path, then target all of your slings at the elephant. It will die pretty quickly. If you really wish to play Athenians, you can use some cavalry javelinists to chase after it. Use 10-20 and the elephant should be dead in a few seconds. Alternatively, use Iphicrates and some mercenary javelineers in a formation to target the elephants 1 by 1. The champion archers are also a good option to snipe elephants from a distance if you can afford significant numbers of them (15-30). If you find Athenians difficult to play with, then choose another civ.
