  5. The game would benefit if it had an option to turn eye-candy object off. They do not affect the state of the game and are limiting vision and it can't be good for performance.

  6. IMHO you have a problem with IPv6 addresses. Try: ping -4 svn.wildfiregames.com If it ping work, try: sudo sysctl -w net.ipv6.conf.all.disable_ipv6=1 sudo sysctl -w net.ipv6.conf.default.disable_ipv6=1

  7. [14476] Finished packaging "delenda_est_A25.pyromod". Debug View was definitely essential for me to troubleshoot archival failures. Had about 8 or so issues which caused the archiver to fail and Debug View's interface allowed me to see what the problems were.

  8. Add a hotkey for "Push order in front" Queue up some orders e.g. gather berries, build a house, ... Press the key combination and select something that needs to be done NOW. The units will do it and still remember all the unfinished orders. push_order_front.mp4

  9. Due to the recent increase in interest for mods as well as the relative simplicity with which you can install them (either through .pyromod files or mod.io) I decided to make a little guide to explain how to package mods. It's a relative tedious process when you are not familiar to it, so don't worry if you do not get it right the first time. Requirements: You need to have the package_mod installed First go to 0 .A.D.'s root folder (This the one that contains the binaries folder): In the adress bar type "powershell" A wild window will appear. (Notice the path is correct one): Type or copy paste the following command, but replace "{yourmod}" by the mod folder name, for instance, terra_magna, delenda_est, milleniumad binaries/system/pyrogenesis -mod=package_mod -mod={yourmod} -archivebuild="binaries/data/mods/{yourmod}" -archivebuild-output="{yourmod}.pyromod" -archivebuild-compress You should have something like this after copy pasting/typing: It will take some time to compile the modfile. For Ponies Ascendant which is like 300MB big, it takes like 5 mins. Optional: You can monitor the output of the packaging in Visual Studio or using a tool called DebugView by SysInternals (Recommended as fewer setup steps are required) Open the zip and double click on Dbgview.exe: It will open a window like this, and the output will appear when you run the packaging steps above. Hope it helps.

  10. Github repo: https://github.com/Mare-Nostrum-0AD/popup_choices Zipfile: popup_choices.1.zip Hey everyone! Here's a new feature I've been planning to create for a while. It allows Scenario designers to include "popup choice" menus in their trigger scripts. These popup choice menus can have up to three buttons, with each button (optionally) triggering a function when it is clicked. This allows you to create scenarios with storylines and more interesting scripted events, and also to display information to the player during gameplay (i.e. a "Historical Background" blurb at the beginning of the scenario). The instructions for how to use this are contained in the README.md of the github repo and zipfile I linked to above. I included an example script at maps/scenarios/demo_popup_choices_triggers.js. To try out the scenario, go to the Scenario selection menu, filter by Demo maps, and look for DEMO: Popup Choices. You'll have to know at least a little JavaScript to use this feature, of course. I know a lot of you here aren't coders, so I'll try to build a "template" scenario script and a library of functions for simple use cases to make this as accessible as possible to everyone. I'm also willing to help people build their scenarios, as long as it's just a small or medium sized project. I'm also including this feature in my other mod, Mare Nostrum, from now on. I hope y'all can make some interesting scenarios with this!

  11. Played a wild lake map last night that most of the apparently open area around my CVC was the tall grass. Women farmers literally disappeared in the grass and foundations were not visible at all. Even the completed farms were indistinguishable from the grass (perhaps erasing the grass when the foundation is laid would help?). The last straw (no pun intended) was when I heard ram attack noises and found essentially invisible Iberian rams attacking my civic center, who I only could locate by hovering the mouse over the area with my selected soldiers. Its ironic that I could occasionally spot something in the grass if the actor was passing by an adjacent tree by the colored silhouette. It would be nice if the grass had the same effect but I suppose that would totally remove the total immersion effect. I think I may have seen random references to this effect on the forum, but this was my first major taste. Also those tiny shrubs that sometimes count as 'wood' were scattered in the grass making placement of large buildings difficult. End rant

  12. I was involved in some 1v1 small mainland games and it was time to get an overview on the different biomes. I hope this video makes you think about which biome suits competitive play best and it informs about you what to expect from each biome.

  13. Hey there, Indeed it's strange. There have been some issues with Spanish ISP in the past months which was a bit strange. They decided to block all wildfiregames.com websites. Can you try to use the Google dns see if the link works ? If that's the case it means your ISP if not we'll see if we can diagnose it.

  17. commands.txt My Lobby Name: wXOOP Other Player: Benvryl This isnt a player report, Benvryl did nothing wrong. But for some reason, after he resigned, my rating didn't go up. This was in fact a rated match, and was completed from start to finish. I've heard of other peoples ratings not changing as well, not sure why. @user1

  18. We need to make constructed buildings/foundations remove eyecandy actors, such as grass and small bushes. AOE games do this. @Freagarach is there a ticket?

  19. I recently had a Wild Lake map with India biome which I eventually abandoned. With the oh-so-ineresting terrain (cliffs) and the shrubs I couldn't build sht, with the biome I couldn't see sht, and I guess tigers were spawning (couldn't find them on the map in the replay) and I lost a bunch of women (didn't notice any attack alarms). What a joy to play. Not.

  22. GitHub wants all users to start using a personal access token rather than a password to authenticate. The "brownout" is a temporary insistence (a few days) on setting up a personal access token so that folks can do it before they insist on it forever after August 13th. How to set up a personal access token: https://docs.github.com/en/github/authenticating-to-github/keeping-your-account-and-data-secure/creating-a-personal-access-token GitHub announcement with August 13th deadline: "Beginning August 13, 2021, we will no longer accept account passwords when authenticating Git operations on GitHub.com." https://github.blog/2020-12-15-token-authentication-requirements-for-git-operations/ Cordially, Jski
