Problem with User-created Maps and LAN Multiplayer Game
phosit replied to 0adler's topic in Scenario Design/Map making
https://gitea.wildfiregames.com/0ad/0ad/issues/7682 There was a problem in 0.27.x with so that it erroneously loaded "Acropolis Bay (2)". It's related to the filter. Removing the keyword of your map should solve it. When i read correctly, you edit the map between the save and the load. That isn't supported. -
petrabot Hidden map and "fog of war" for Petra AI
Perzival12 replied to CheckTester's topic in Applications and Contributions
Yeah, the reason Petra currently needs to see the entire screen is because it decides when to launch an attack based off of the current number of buildings, units, etc. that it's target has, as well as where they are. The hard part would be naval maps, where it would have to sail around with a ship (which it currently only builds fishing boats unless it is attacking) until it found your base. And, on maps with large islands where you are not visible by a ship sailing around you, Petra would have to be coded to land on an island, send soldiers to find you, then get back in then ship and sail back. Another reason Petra can see the entire map is so itcan change it's plans based off of what has happened since it launched an attack, i.e. to make sure it doesn't just walk past new buildings that weren't there when it ordered the attack. -
Yes. It's an exact search, looking for the text, could probably be improved yes. Could you take a screenshot? I'm not very good with responsive design, so things can definitely be improved Yeah it's running on a small server, so I didn't load too much at first. An advanced search could be nice yeah. Do note that not everything is indexed though, so I cannot search everything

The Kingdom of Kush: A proper introduction [Illustrated]
Genava55 replied to Sundiata's topic in Official tasks
Is there a way on firefox to make a clean copy-paste of a picture between browser tabs? I am tired of this unintelligent system copy-pasting the url link sneakingly, making you believe you have copy-pasted the picture itself while you didn't. I really don't want to download every pictures before uploading them, nor using powerpoint as an intermediate app.- 1.042 replies

The issue in Gitea: https://gitea.wildfiregames.com/0ad/0ad/issues/8666 -
I've checked the site, thank you for your contribution. Some things I'm puzzled. - Do I need to register a different account to enter this? I tried to input both my forum and game but it doesn't seem to work. So I registered a 3rd account, not sure if it would identify my in-game account since I haven't played Multiplayer. - The search is vague(is there a list I can input the type?), I can type name of map/player , but I can only search 1 type and not Map Name + Player name. - Also zooming out my browser(Floorp) I can see there is more to the map distribution of map names above the pie, I suggest adding a scroll. When I zoom out the, pie becomes big but text is blurred and stays small including the game section. But wait... if I zoom in, actually I can see the whole pie and map name now guess that's one solution. Some things are missing. - It would be nice if I could see more then 20 listing game, maybe set it to 50/100 then when the limit is reached input a second page to see the next 100-200 replay. - A category to filter by version, mod name, player count, civilization, date, game type. match duration, tags(like tutorial/guide/campaign/modded/vanilla) and many-many more using drop-down list.

Are you sure there is evidence of their usage by Northern Indians? Bactrian camels were used by the Achaemenid Persians and by the Indo-Scythian kingdom for war, but not in a great scale. And it doesn't seem the Greeks of Bactria used it for war, only for logistics. I think the first to introduce its use for war in Indian regions are nomads (Indo-Scythians and Kushans).

Problem with User-created Maps and LAN Multiplayer Game
Stan` replied to 0adler's topic in Scenario Design/Map making
I do not know. Maybe @phosit does. -
I really dislike formation as they are and also think they aren't really a fun or suitable thing for a rts like 0a.d.. I also disliked the video about cohesion at suggestions for 0a.d.. Not just because of the problems in the pathfinder. Formations may make sense in the real world, when armies meet on a open field with the intention to clash and end a dispute by one big fight. In 0 a.d. the units rarely fight on a open field. Units join a fight from the barracks when trained, units flee from a fight. The player positions bolt-shooters where one wants to control the map, if your enemy sees such a prepared position you better flee and make them unpack and try else where. The hunting and fleeing creates chaos, the fun in this game is to micro and position one self to your advantage in this chaos. Often there comes also scenarios where one player has some soldiers that needs to flee (where they have the lower hand) while others need to attack (where you have the upper hand) just a few houses away. Where I could see formations useful is as a short one time action as some players already use them. Just before one big charge. But then later on, first the melee gets damaged, then the healers would need to go to them. When their numbers dwindle, they need to back up behind the ranged. Or focus on a hero. I'm just saying I'm highly skeptical, but you do you.

petrabot Hidden map and "fog of war" for Petra AI

I think that would be good. I find it especially egregious when the AI settles in a region/on a continent they have never been to. -

ships Naval Boarding - seizure of ships
CheckTester replied to CheckTester's topic in Gameplay Discussion
Friends, this topic is not about changing size of ships (BTW: I am personally against reducing the ships size, it looks good now). This topic is about simple feature — the boarding of ships. It is about possibility to add any ship with garnison the ability to capture (boarding) any other enemy ship without (or lesser) garnison, lilke the capturing of building. The simplification is linked the fact that possible boarding process no need animation, only capture point bar even. Or may be with "hand-on-hand combat on ship" sounds and some some flying particles to demonstrate the process. And, may be, the separation of garnisoned units between mothership and captured ship . That's all. So, as example the trade ship with garnison will get possibility to capture "empty" enemy ship. So, trade ship may be protected by garissoned war units. And so on Why not? It was so in history... Such element of surprising! This will be wonderful and very interesting concept to improve naval confrontation. Corvus add-on for Rome Ships (with or without animation) and some advanced technologies to support or counter the boarding will be good too. But, need to understand if it is possible realize boarding (capturing the ship) itself. Please note, if it is need to create a tickets in Gitea or something like that. -
Hello everyone. Does Petra AI have a hidden map under the fog of war when such option has been turned on for real player in match settings? It looks, that Petra Bot always knows where the opponent is located and no need to find anything? The replays also demonstrate this, that the bot directs his army directly where it is needed from the beginning of the game match. How is it possible, without opened map and without searching location of enemies ? May be I am wrong, but it looks so, that Fog of War is not implemented for Petra AI. So, it is some advantages for Petra and disadvantages for real players. Hidden map should not been revealed before exploration. It necessary to fix it in this case. Does anybody made such request before ?

Greetings and salutations, have you eaten? You can call me by my user psudo-name Tapothei or Aez or Oyauzhi. Am in my early 20s coming from SEA with specialty of farming crops. I suffer from being motivationless & jobless so I'm not making use of my passion. RTS is a thing of mine, played C&C TW&KW, LOTR:BFME, COH1, W40k:DOW1, EE3, RTW1. What made me play them was the campaign and it was enjoyable. Skirmish however feels empty because at the end of the day its AI. Got bored looked at software downloader for linux games then stumbled upon this game. A development similar to DF, CDDA, Warzone 2100, BAR that akin to being alive for years to come. Did the tutorial and economy, beat the medium difficulty, going to practice more before multiplayer. Looking forward for the campaign to flesh out as well as possible conquest mode. A system following DOW:SS/EE3 campaign but with more feature. If you notice, my writing style becomes poetry, can't be helped. Staying here temporarily as is my ever case of nomadic presence. History is not my thing but I'll contribute my chaotic ideas whenever its possible.

From South East Asia(SEA) and my name I come up on my own. I actually don't remember the reference but it could be I thought of some Greek name. And just like that Tapothei, it has no meaning which makes me a forgotten being. There is more continuation to the name but I'll go make my own introduction there.
